Scrap'n Stamp ~ Summer Fun Instagram Hop

Today we're celebrating all things summer over at Scrap'n Stamp — from sunshine and sandy toes to sunsets and sweet treats! ☀️🌴

For this hop, I embraced the vibrant colors of summer and created a card that’s all about chill vibes and beachy dreams. I used the Altenew “Spectacular Adventures” stamp set and built my card around a colorful sunset scene reflected in some stylish shades. 😎

To set the stage, I created a bold and bright rectangle panel using a rainbow of Catherine Pooler Inks: Glitz, Tiki Torch, Tutti Frutti, Samba, Oh Boy!, Fiesta Blue, All That Jazz and Aquatini.

These inked panels were die cut using one of my favorite dies—Prism Studio’s “Nesting Stitched Rectangles”—to give it that crisp and finished look.

For the background behind the sunglasses, I added a bit of sparkle and texture using a deckled rectangle cut from glitter-embossed cardstock. That was made using the Aall & Create “Polaroid Pop #089” die set, which added just the right amount of interest without overpowering the focal point.

To tie it all together, I colored the sunglass lenses with Copic Markers, echoing the same dreamy sunset tones from my inked panel. As a final pop of dimension and detail, I added a few Spellbinders “Tone on Tone Teal” Dimensional Dots.

The sentiment “you’re too cool for the summer” captures the whole mood—laid-back, colorful, and cool.

PLUS... we're having a SALE!  Make sure to check out the SHOP for all the summer fun!

Chibitronics ~ Slide Switch Sunset Sunnies *Video*

Happy Wednesday!   Today I'm sharing my latest Chibitronics creation that I've made this week.

This card features cool paper circuit products including the Craft With Lights Kit - Color!  We're going to use all the light sticker rotates through the rainbow of colors from little kit today!

I started today's card by stamping the sunglasses image and sentiment from the Altenew "Spectacular Adventures" stamp set on a card base.  I used 5 Catherine Pooler Designs inks, Chiffon, Bellini, Pucker Up, Serenade and Garden Party, swiped in rows on some white cardstock and then I cut a whole bunch of the glasses shapes using the "Pet Specs" Dies" and adhered to a frame.  I also added some retired MFT striped patterned paper to the frame on the inside.

I also stamped the sentiment and the sunglasses outsides on the inside of the card base to build my circuit upon.

Next I laid out the position of my LED Lights.  I decided to use all 6 colors of lights from the Craft with Lights Kit - Color. I used my Craft Stencil to trace out the 6 shapes onto the inside of the sunglasses lenses.

Next I drew in all the aspects of my circuit.  I used a circle to indicate the location of my battery and then I drew in the location of the negative side of my circuit (in blue).  Please ignore the blue lines below the 6 strips of Conductive Fabric Tape at the bottom of the circuit... I mistakenly added these in but didn't apply any tape to them to create the Slide Switch.

Next I applied a light blocking panel behind my sunglasses image.  I hand cut out the lens shapes so the light only passes through the sun glass's lenses.

Let's finish the circuit!

Next I added the battery, holding it down with the starting end of the Conductive Fabric Tape for the positive side of the circuit.  I made sure to take it down to the location of the LED Light Stickers.

Next I added my six colored LED Light Stickers: yellow, orange, pink, red, blue and green LED Light Stickers.

I folded down the switch panel and closed the top of the card and then tested out my switch...

The way the switch works, is as you slide your fingers down the sentiment, pressing down, you complete the circuit underneath each light sticker so the lights light up!  Fun right?!?!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have a wonderful week!

Snow Happy ~ StampNation Fun!

Every month over at StampNation, as a member, you can sign up to participate in the PenPal swap.  Each month there is a fun theme that inspires the participants to make a card for their assigned PenPal.

This month, we have this adorable group of photos to inspire the participants... a snowy inspiration for January...

I was inspired by that adorable little snowy fox and the beautiful blue background so I started by stamping this adorable fox from Altenew's "Modern Fox".  I added some Catherine Pooler trees from the "Evergreen Woods" stamp set using the Tranquil and Stone Blue inks.

For the back ground, I used the Cover Blue and Stone Blue ink and blended it with darker corners.  Then I used Dreamweaver Pearlescent Embossing Paste through the Simon Says Stamp "Falling Snow Stencil".  I love how shiny this paste is!

Today Catherine is celebrating StampNation's 11th BirthYAY!  We have some wonder birthday card challenges already posted plus we'll have 2 live card making events today over in the StampNation forums plus some fun video tutorials.

Get Your Sketch On at StampNation!

Over at StampNation today, the Dream Team are revealing their challenge creations for this week; it’s a sketch challenge!

Here’s a quick sneak peek at all of the amazing card creations this week…

I always love a good sketch and this week’s sketch by Maureen is no exception!  Here is another card I created using her design…

I first created the unique rosy back ground using the gorgeous 3 step stamps, “Painted Flowers” by Altenew.  I used one one ink colour for the blooms and another single ink colour for the leaves.  I first stamped off the ink on to a scrap of paper to achieve the lighter tone of both colours.  A fun technique!
To add a bit of shine, I added some Sakura Glaze pen to the title and some fun sequins from Pretty Pink Posh to my sentiment.

Thank you to Altenew for the opportunity to use your stamps!  I thoroughly enjoyed using them this month.

Hope to see you at StampNation!

Let’s Get Graphic!

This week at StampNation, the Dream Team and I are going graphic!

We were challenged to create a card using this photo as our inspiration…

Check out this week’s sneak peek of all the Dream Team creations…

I thought I’d share another graphic beauty with you here on my blog too.  StampNation is being sponsored this week by the amazing stamp company, Altenew!  They have an amazing array of stamp sets and I love how they stamp.

I first started my card by creating my harlequin back ground.  I used a “harlequin” mask from Tim Holtz and I air brushed my rainbow effect Copics across my stencil.  I wrapped my two silver ribbons around the end of my panel and attached it to my card front.

For my flower, I stamped the image from the AltenewHennah Elements” stamp set using Memento “Angel Pink” ink onto white cardstock.  Then I coloured in my flower with Copics.  I added the stamp stamped image right over top of it, using Versamark ink and white embossing powder over top.  (Copics don’t get along with embossing powders very well!!!)

Then I stamped two of the fern-like leaf stems onto vellum and embossed them with white embossing powder and added some silver pen to the ends.

Thank you to Altenew for the opportunity to use your stamps!  I thoroughly enjoyed using them.

Hope to see you there!
