香菇鲜味饭

had a lousy day with a broken heart
broke a vase n got my hand cut
3 super urgent last minute work requests in a row
~>,<~.
not enough ingredients to cook...
not in a mood to cook...
i made this 1 pot Mushroom Rice
.
ingredients:

shallot, ginger, garlic, dried shrimp,
chinese mushroom, dried oyster, rice, water
.
* fry everything in shallot oil

*season with brown sugar, salt n pepper
*cook rice as usual

Mie Sedaap Asli

although Mie Sedaap had been in Malaysia for so many years
this was my 1st time dealing with it
anyhow... it still cannot replace the status of
Indomie Goreng in my heart
.
the texture n the taste was okay
but i dun like the biji-biji thing on top
so disturbing loooo...
on the packaging it says extra 50% of bawang goreng
but those things look more like coloured popped rice to me

n i really really dun like to cooking process
so mafan need so many steps
n the packaging for all the FIVE seasoning
were so difficult to open lo...
i failed to tear with my cow strength
so i used scissors lo
it was soOoOOOOOooooo messy de lo!

Kembung Asam Tak Pedas

was wandering in the super market's fish section for very long
because i saw a lot of very fresh fishes!
Snakie once mentioned he like Kembung fish
i was very undecided because no one there
to help clean the fish ~>,<~
okay lar... for Dec sake~
for he had a bad week sake~
brought the fishes home
.
1st time cleaning up fish in my whole life again
shivering hands... was holding my breath all the time...
closed my eyes while taking out all the bloody organs
kept mumbling sorry n RIP to the fishies... >,<"
poor fishies...
i've been asking around on how to cook them too
seems like everyone dun usually cook fish at home
haaaaa...!
special thanks for Kittymiao for the inspiration
.
went online to check on recipe too
but sadly~ my kitchen lacking of a lot of ingredients
so i simply hantam my way again
i used:
shallot, garlic, ginger, lemongrass, lime leaves, chili,
tamarind (assam) paste, brown sugar, soy sauce
fry all the dried ingredients till fragrant

pour in the tamarind juice n a bit of water
then slowly put in the fishes
cook for 5 minutes on each side
season with brown sugar n soy sauce

not enough time n not in the mood of decorating it
look ordinary but taste superb
snakie finished his big big plate of rice ^^
i wish i could have fresh fish sauce n some lime
it would be perfect ^^

for those whom wish to hav extra uuumph
u may add some chili padi in too~

Dinner Delight

in the mood of trying new recipe
so i played these:
.
a dish tat i've eaten in Taiping Lang few times
n i love it~ since i hav Heh Bi Hiam mar~ 
*let the 4 angled bean be raw
*boil the whole lady finger for few minutes then only cut

Miso Tofu
sauce: miso 2tsp, sugar 2tsp, mirin 1tsp,
soy sauce 1tsp, water a bit,
sesame oil a bit, lemon juice 1tsp

Pu Er Tea Rice
i added 1 tbsp of Pu Er tea leaves
together with the rice before cooking *nyumph*

A Little Special...

Grilled Salmon with a lil' garlic n soy sauce
since it's so fresh~ why not enjoy its original taste~

Burdock Soup 牛蒡汤
noticed my Snakie like to order this
whenever it appears on the menu
especially in Purple Cane Tea House
.
picked up 2 batang from the supermarket
n did some reasearch on the soup
the ingredients are a lil' extraordinary than my norm
.
it uses Burdock (lightly scrub out the skin),
carrot, chinese dried mushroom (soak to soften),
red date, honey date (蜜枣), spare ribs
*boil everything for ard 2 hours
*season with salt

Dried Shrimp Sambal

the very first sambal i made all by myself!!!
(usually my papa will make a big bottle for me)
.
*soak dried chili until they soften
*blend chili (u may add chili padi for extra umph),
shallot, garlic, ginger n dried shrimp into paste

* use a little bit of oil to fry paste until it's so fragrant
tat it make ur neighbours jealous

* add a little bit of water, sugar n salt
*fry till it's dried up

*wait till cool, keep in clean container
gee... i feel so proud i made this ^^~♥

everything is super filling

this cup of chilled chocolate + hazenut coffee drinks is superb~
i got addicted to it liao...

Stir-Fried Kailan Stem with Lap Cheong

Brinjal + Enoki Mushroom + Dried Shrimp + Oyster Sauce

Pork Curry


whenever mentioned about curry
my big head will only link to chicken...
until i was flipping a recipe book in Popular last nite
only i remembered there's Pork Rib Curry too!
adui... doink doink betoi~
.
used a piece of lean meat to try this recipe
it was superb!
i made it Dried Curry version
.
ah yan simply hantam punya recipe:
*cut pork into bite size strips
*marinate with mirin, pepper, worcestershire sauce
*saute smashed lemongrass, chopped shallot n garlic
*mix curry powder with some water to make paste
*put curry paste to fry till fragrant
*pour in marinated pork
*sprinkle some sugar n soy sauce
*add some water n cook for 20 min

Red Bean Soup


tak sampai hati to let my Snakie
hav cornflakes for breakfast again
used slow cooker to make some Red Bean Soup
.
before going to bed~
*wash red bean n put into slow cooker
with plenty of water
1 dried orange (桔饼)
1 knot of pandan leaves
*put to Low mode n cook
.
next morning~
* add a few tablespoon of brown sugar
*turn to High mode n cook for a while more
.
steamed some Mantou to pair with it
nyumph!

Sweet n Sour Hash Brown Rice


yes u did not hear me wrong...
this is Sweet n Sour Hash Brown Rice
.
1 last piece of pity Hash Brown
has been sitting in the freezer for quite some time already
so i turned it into my comfort lunch
since i had a not so nice day
due to my own silly mistake done last week
tat has caused my whole day plans ruined

T_T
.
*cut hash brown into 8 small pieces
*fry them for a while until crispy - set a side of the wok
* throw in few big chunk of shallot & chopped garlic
*sprinkle some sugar - for comfort...
*a few drop of soy sauce
*a dollop of tomato sauce
*make sure all coated with sauce
*serve warm ^^

Yam Cake

this happened in Sep...
but it was a failure
T_T

preparing ingredients
fry yam cubes to let them stay in shape
stir... stir...

continue to stir until it harden a little

then put into mould


steam for 30 min

Earl Grey Cuppies once again

after 1year 3months n 11days
of my last experience on this Earl Grey Cupcake
i finally challenge it again
this time finally a success!!! *phew*

by using the same recipe book
throw away the cheat-method on the book
plus my 1year 3months n 11days of experience
i've made these most-self-satisfied cupcakes of the year

ah yan sendiri add-minus-plus punya ingredients:
100g butter
80g sugar
2 eggs
120g fine flour
1 pinch each of baking powder & baking soda
2 Earl Grey tea bags (i used Mark & Spencer's)
80cc of hot water (add a bit more to make sure u hav 80cc of tea later)

* whisk butter & sugar until they turn white n fluffy (medium speed 15 mins)
*soak 1 tea bag into hot water to make 80cc of Earl Grey tea
*add in egg 1 by 1 n continue to whisk
*pour in tea n n continue to whisk until all mixed well
*sift flour + baking powder + soda + 1 packet of tea leaves
(cut open)

in few batches n slowly stir (not whisk) until no lump
*pour into any desired mould n bake

(i used 160'c - 30 min - made 10 cupcakes)

Chicken Curry Rice Platter

it rain a lot lately
triggered my gloominess timm...
.
let's play with spices
since there's a packet of Maggi 'Kari Ayam' paste
sitting in the cabinet for few months liao

i skippied the santan again
as it's already very aromatic liao

snakie says it's nice but just a little too spicy
n the amount of chilli oil
 that came with the packet is excessively too much
no matter how much i scooped with the oil remover
>_<"

made Turmeric Rice to go with the curry
yum~♥

p/s:
another bloody tragedy happened in the kitchen again
the blood splashed every where
while i was chopping the chicken
wahhhhhhhhhhhh....
dun like~ dun like~ dun like~!!!

Microwaved Pop Corn

last time i said i wanna try to use microwave to pop my corn
so i did~!
.
use microwave-defrost mode to melt some butter
add in some sugar
throw in a handful of dried corn
mix well
put everything in a big bowl
cover with a plate
on high fire for 1 minute
n another 1 minute
n another 1 minute
n another 1 minute
... ... ... ...
until no more popping sound in there
.
so simple with no mess~
love it!
