size closed: 4.5"w x 6.5"h
mechanism: 2.5"w x 4"h (closed)
opens to 2.5"w x 2"h x 2"dp approx with 5 windows plus the door.

Mary one of our Art Of The Fold members showed us a video clip from Kit Davey with this finished structure... no details... I looked at it and said OK... Next thing I new I was creating one with my made up dimensions... as you can see it worked... so I'll show it at our next meet (Feb 2026). raided my Joanna Sheen artwork pads (I have several with different themes...) and cut and spliced.

A circle at the top to keep the mechanism closed.

Basic white card base (9"w x 6.5"h) folded in half, covered with one of my marbled papers from eons ago...

Created the mechanism basic shape 8.5" x 2.5" scored at 2", 4", 6", 8" with a 1/2" end to glue to create the box.

Cut the windows in the main structure before gluing.

For these dimensions cut 3 more widows  2"w x 3"h. Note: the 3" h section is scored 1/2" on either end to glue to the mechanism after windows are cut out.. Glue to basic box. Add images either before or after gluing, I did it after...

Glue half a circle to the card to keep the mechanism closed.

 

MC Nov/14 - Pop Up Starburst - XOXO Those We Love

I came across a fabulous paper engineer - Peter Dahmen - from Germany. He has several pop up videos on You Tube, and this starburst one.

I think I'll give this to my baby sister...

MC Oct 14 - Side Easel Quill - A Friend is Someone HB

From the simple to the complex... My thought process was a simple card, then I started adding things, then it became complicated... I had to step away from it and read my book for a while... came back to it and added more stuff... so slept on it and finished it off this morning... I've got to say I like the way it turned out. BIG GRIN.

The quilling is something I came across that inspired this card. You can see the two toned cascading loop flower tutorial here by Noor Azlina Abdhul Samad K.

I'm using Quietfire Design quote and sentiment stamps.

MC June/13 - Quill - Dahlia Easel - HB

A friend recently received a card similar to this structure, and when I saw it, I really wanted to make one... Her's was done with hearts, each one in front of the previous one. I did mine a bit different, using the Dahlia die set and off setting each flower.

MC Jan 12 - Pop Up - Butterflies

I love these new butterfly/quote word stamps from Quietfire Design too much. Sheesh - so had to use another one...

I was checking Amazon and came across a pop up book by Jackson Paul, and on the cover is this beautiful, yet very simple pop up card of a dove flying off the top of the card. It spoke to me... had to try and make one using a butterfly.
