Drum Leaf Binding - Words To Live By

I came across this DRUM LEAF binding on Vintage Page Designs Facebook Nov 4/24 post and decided to play with it…click HERE  for the post

Cut my 5pcs of white Stonehenge paper to 5"h x 10" w and one larger one for the covers. Sprayed with various colors of Distress Spritz (Fossilized Amber, Peacock Feathers, Peeled Paint, Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Twisted Citron and Walnut Stain). Sprinkled with Coarse salt and then sprayed with water. Let it dry completely.

Fold the pages in half and  the back side of one folded piece to the back side of the next folded piece until all were attached to each other. Used binder clips to hold the pages together and applied glue to the spine - let dry. Adhered the cover to the first page creased for my spine and then adhere the rest to the back page. Adhered the belt to the front adding a piece to slip my end into for closure. Added one of my wax seals as decoration.

Die cut the large letters using Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations "Vintage Market" alphabet from pink cardstock. Rest of the text was done with a Zebra pointed pen nib in Bookhand style using Holbien Jet Black gouache.

Accordion - Removable Spine - Green - The Garden We Grew

Since the 1st one I created was for a client and I really loved this structure and poem... I had to make one for myself.

Created the text on I believe copy paper that I had pre-cut eons ago... so thought I'd use more of it.
Wrote out the text using a Zebra pointed nib and two colors of green gouache (Holbien Terre Verte & Cypress Green) in "Bullet Rider Typeface" style and trimmed down to 5"w x 4"h.
Cut several strips of this pale green colored Mi-Tientes paper to create the accordion giving me a border of 1/4" all around the text piece.
Created the covers using some of my gelli print paper (front and back of gelli print) around some white cardstock, then slipped the ends of the accordion into the cover and held everything closed with the spine insert (the whole thing is removable if desired)

Black Is Magical

I haven't used Gouache in years. Not my favorite medium - can you guess...  but I've been seeing so many posts with people using them so I pulled mine out and put them in a a multi hole palette with a label on the cover so I'd remember what colors are what...
Size:  6"sq
On Canson Mixed Media Paper double loaded a Simply Simons #6 Chisel paint brush and dipped into Lukas Ivory Black  and Pebeo Helliotrope. I really like that combo. Graphite and paper stump shading and white Gelly Roll highlights. Rest of the text with a Juice up pen in serif monoline style.

words: Black is just no beautiful it's magical.

Doodling - Funkiness Exudes

I doodled the center floral stem first and then the rest just morphed into a design... and it just looked funky... and since I was outside playing with double loading gouache on a Simply Simons #6 Chisel brush I used that for the title...

Size: 3"h" x 8"w
On Canson Mixed Media paper using various colors of Juice Up pens created the funky floral design.

BVCG Play Day - Mar 16/24

Since I didn't have any direction I wanted to go in... I just wrote and doodled what crossed my mind... Since I had brought one of my glass pens with me I started with that.

Except for the alphabet piece done on Bee Super Deluxe paper, the rest were done on our Genoa Bond practice paper.

As written testing my glass pen using Sumi ink and then using gouache. Since I'm notorious for spell or leaving letters out... this was no different. Forgot the "u" in gouache so added it under the handle of the "a" and repeated with the "h" to make it like it all belonged...
Then was doodling the bottom area and testing another nib and then felt like writing the word "Happiness"

Black ZIG calligraphy 3.0 pen

continuing with the Black ZIG calligraphy 3.0 pen

Then I started with that curvy line, creating it on each turn of the paper. I love the look of this. Put initials in them and some colored pencil.

Then I was playing with gouache trying to get the effect that Loredana Zega does - nope didn't work but still had paint on my brush so created the linear design. Then wrote the funky alphabet and the text below... and of course another mistake... yourself should be one word but put the "e" after the "r" instead of the "s"... so created a little doodle... Ha Ha

Art Nouveau - Who Hates Speeding Tickets

Day 3 of Ewan Clayton's Art Nouveau ZOOM class.

I really like this piece even if I did misquote the quote and it could be a bit neater... but I was having problems with the flow of my Bleed Proof white (thickness versus opacity...). Anyway that last word should have been "foot" instead of "hand"...
