Doodle - Not Everything Counts

I was in a mood to play with black paper again... so opened my Strathmore Black Field Drawing book and started adding wavy lines.
size: 4.5"h x 6.25"w
Then coloring with Prisma colored pencils, then played with some Uniball metallic gel pens, then decided to put some gold leaf (Mona Lisa Variegated Green Leaf). This time I used a good bottle of Gerry Tresser Gold Size Gilding Adhesive. Text in monoline with a white Juice Up pen.

words:
Not everything that counts can be counted and not everything that can be counted counts. William Bruce Camero

Doodled Squares - Gilded Tedious

This took waaay longer than I expected to create it... a lot of manipulating  my ruler to draw straight lines. Hence the word
"Tedious".

On Edge Mixed Media paper created my square design using Juice Up pen, colored with Posca colored pencils and  Gansai Tambi gold paint. Word done in a funky style with variegated gold leaf. Small gold and silver mini rhinestones glued to the centers of the squares

Gold Leaf - Blossom & Flourish

size: 6"sq
Mentioned in my previous post haven't gilded in years... I used a different needle nose bottle (I think a smaller nib hole but can't tell by eyesight), but my lines are slightly thinner. Still getting the blobs at the junctions... practice...

On Fabriano 1264 paper gilded my design using US ArtQuest Duo adhesive in a needle nose bottle. Gilded with an unknown brand of imitation gold leaf. Painted with various brands of watercolors.
Text written in Dot Lettering style with a mid tone blue Juice Up pen

words: Our souls cannot be forced to grow, but like flowers our spiritual selves can be nurtured until they blossom and flourish. James Van Praagh

Gold Leaf Flowers - Your Future

Since I haven't gilded in years... there's a lot to be said about this piece... I'll need to practice a bit more BIG GRIN (or maybe a lot more)

On Black Field Drawing paper gilded my design using US ArtQuest Duo adhesive in a needle nose bottle. Gilded with an unknown brand of imitation gold leaf. Colored with Black Edition colored pencils. Added some pointed pen leafy images using Kuretake Gold Mica ink.
Text written in Gwen Weaver style with the Mica ink and the pointed nib.

Gilded the center ovals with Roberson's "red gold"23K gold leaf and the rest with Mona Lisa Red Leaf using a Designa Size Quick Pen gold leaf adhesive.
Colored the knot work with Black Edition colored pencils. Added some holographic gel glitter in the 3 dots.

Jurgen Vercaemst - Day 4 - Color Is By Day

As  last exercise Jurgen created a monoline piece of this quote. There were aspects of it he didn't like so I thought I'd try doing it as well. I'm very pleased with mine. The bottom image is the trial piece on regular calligraphy paper. The image above is the final piece with some 23K gold leaf.

Jan/21 - From My Heart To Yours

The heart with the swirls is something else I recently saw and wanted to mimic. The card I saw had the swirls over the whole card, I decided less is better... I also changed the look of the heart.

This one has 23kt gold leaf which I tooled. It's going to someone special...

Nov/20 - Shalom - Happy Hanukkah

And continuing on in Julie Wildman's class day 3 (Nov 6th) I created this card for my aunt who asked very nicely last year if I would make a Hanukkah card for her. I said yes and almost forgot...

I'm using 23kt gold leaf on the flames, and I really like the way I used the Shalom word to hold up the Menorah. The Shalom is written with Walnut ink with a B-4 nib and sprinkled with Schminke gold powder.
