Continuing playing with these Art Nouveau style letters on black cardstock using various coloring mediums trying to find something that really speaks to me... I really like doodling on them...

Last evening the Bow Valley Calligraphy Guild hosted Tamer Ghoniem teaching "Circles On Steroids". I love Tamer's Blackletter work, but since I'm still working with Italic this month I thought I'd do my piece with that hand... Only a slight miscalculation with my circle size - sigh!!

PS don't look at my calligraphy - that's atrocious...
The top images of black Sumi ink in my pen with Kuretake Silver or Gold Mica ink dropped in the hole. I LOVE the results...
Then I said to myself why bother having ink in the pen at all... Just drop colors into the hole... I started with deAtramentis Pearlescent ink Magenta Red/Gold and then after a few letters dropped in Cyan Blue/Copper, Then when I got to the "Y" I dropped in more of the Magenta. The change in color is not as visible in the image as in real life. I love the color in the small "i". It really has a blended merging of color. Will need to do more experimenting... and neater calligraphy.

Who Me? Not Thank You!
This is another piece I made for Our Guild's (BVCG) next ZOOM Galleria in January and the theme is "In Your Own Words". Definitely not my favorite topic...
I really
love Liesbet's type of lettering... The way I painted them reminds me of prehistoric lettering...

I continued to play after watching Jeffrey Olson from Royal Talens on Texas Lettering For Holiday Projects use watercolors through a stencil on black paper.
The holiday greetings card uses the leftover pieces...

And the "JOY" card I mentioned in my ATC post recently. Since the "J" on it's own didn't make a great card... I created the "O&Y" and cut them out and pasted them to the Illuminated piece. The card is a beautiful off white pearlized cardstock. I'm happy with the way it turned out...

For my last 2 of the 10 triptychs I needed to make, I thought I'd do some on black cardstock using my Kuretake Mica inks.

The one below was the first one I did and when I started reading it to write my post I realized I made a mistake - sigh. So did the one on top next. I'm OK with both but I really like the one below more. love the vertical stripes.

Scribbled Lives 2021 - Wk 41 - Discipline - Choosing Now Over Want.
I just bought a bunch of Atramentis Pearlescent inks. They are absolutely gorgeous. The ink is mixed with either a gold, copper or silver. They do need constant stirring but well worth the effort. I used "Cyan Blue/Copper" and a touch of "Magenta Red/Gold" without cleaning my nib between colors giving a nice variegation.

The image below is prior the gold shadow lines.
Further to the class I took on the weekend with Ann Purdy "Pencil To Paper" I had created a "J" that was too large for an ATC - sigh, so that one became a greeting card which you'll see in another post...
So then I created the "O" the right size...
I also caught part of Cheryl Tefft's Illumination ZOOM class held by the Edmonton Calligraphy Society - it was held during my in person class... so couldn't really catch it till I got home and watched the last hour. So decided to combine the 2 techniques. I really like the results of this set of triptychs.
