Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk 50 Grand Finale

It's hard to believe a whole year of Scribbled Lives 2020 is over... Looking forward to 2021 starting the 1st week of January. This piece was out of my comfort zone for the background. I used a credit card to make the abstract marks and then diluted the look with a watered down wash of all the colors. I'm happy with the results.

I'm also using my Brody pen for the 1st time. VERY NICE. On par with my Dreaming Dogs ruling pens.

Anyway, click on any image to see more details and descriptions etc. Enjoy.

Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk 49 - Weathergrams

Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk 49 - Weathergrams. This is the first weathergram I've ever made... I even hung them on my bare lilac tree. When I took the pic, they weren't very cooperative.

I love this one. I altered a previous piece that wasn't working by adding a lot of water and making it bleed all over the place... I then used the edge of a paper towel to soak up excess water before sprinkling with salt. I loved the paper towel after drying...

Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk 46 - Rosie Kelly - Tagore

Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk 47 - Rosie Kelly - Tagore.

We were asked to create something on Paste paper which is what Rosie Kelly liked using for here books... Sorry don't have any, so wrote my quote on one of my geli print pieces I recently created for my poetry mini books...

I'm using Uncial lettering style using a parallel pen and Sumi ink. I like the way this turned out.

Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk-46 - Hats Off - Gentlemen

Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk-46 - Hats Off - Gentlemen. I was a little too busy this week to get this piece done...

On white Staples 110# cardstock stamped my lady (Kanban "Molin Divas - Belle Femme"). Colored the hat with a red Prisma colored pencil. Wrote out the upper text in my funky curly alphabet  and the lower text in a narrow monoline using a pointed pen and Sumi ink with Schminke gold powder. Colored the upper letters with a red Color Brush.

Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk 44 - Fall Colors - Autumn Is A Second

I pulled out some rubber leaf stamps from Rubbernecker. Sprinkled my silicon mat with Bister powders, misted with water and press the stamp into the wetness and stamped. Wrote out the quote with a "B" nib and Sumi ink. added some acrylic gold detailing.

Scribbled Lives 2020- Wk 42 - Indigenous- When Your People

Scribbled Lives 2020- Wk 42 - Indigenous- When Your People

I'm taking a ZOOM class with Amity Parks using the humble pencil so decided to use the pressure/release technique for this week's challenge, which I love but something I haven't used in eons. It's clean and honest.

Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk 41 - Shel Silverstein - Runny Babbit Returns

Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk 41 - Shel Silverstein is this weeks theme... He has some fun quotes/poems. This one is kind of long for me. I usually prefer doing shorter quotes and stuff... I tried doing it with various nibs in various styles of lettering and on various hand made backgrounds. Ugh to all of them. I finally just went on plain cardstock, my small B-5 nib and Vermillion Sumi ink in my funky monoline stle lettering. I'm content... Added the spider web and spider being it's close to Halloween I thought it was appropriate. BIG GRIN.

Scribbled Lives 2020- Wk 40 - Inspiration - What Lies Behind Us

Scribbled Lives 2020 Wk 40 - Inspiration. We were to almost copy something from our group that inspired us... There were a ton of options, but I chose something created by Gerry Heidi Stolp. What I loved about this was the colors that made me smile when I saw it as well as the graphic look to it. Right up my alley... I probably should have made my squares larger, but c'est la vie.

Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk 39 - Boustrophedon - Life

Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk 39 - Boustrophedon - Life.

Boustrophedon is an ancient way of writing manuscript and other inscriptions in which, rather than going from left to right as in Modern English, or from right to left as in Arabic, alternate lines must be read in opposite directions. The name is borrowed from the Greek language.

Staples 110# white cardstock spliced. A funky style of monoline I came across (no attribution) done with a Zig Writer using both ends. all the decorative inserts are cut from a Geli plate print made with Bister inks and misted with water on Bee Super Deluxe paper, cut or punched out. I adhered AB nail art rhinestones on the cover word

Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk 36 Etigami - Achieve Grapeness

Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk 36 Etigami - Achieve Grapeness

the popular Japanese art form known as etegami (e= image; tegami= letter) has captured the interest and imagination of artists all over the world. The simplest English definition of etegami may well be “Japanese postcard art.

I created mine as 4" x 6" on white cardstock and only using a #4 Taklon paintbrush, except for the outline detail. Never heard this term. Seems there are a lot of terms I learning this year...

Scribbled Lives 2020 Wk 35 - Alphabet - Destiny - and another month has gone by. Sheesh these months are just turbo flying by.

We were asked to design an alphabet and then write some words using it. It's a simple alphabet, but I will probably use it.

Wk 34 - Recipe - Swagger

http://www.yogiemp.com/Calligraphy/Artwork/ScribbledLives2020/ScribbledLives_Aug2020.html
Scribbled Lives 2020 - wk 34 - Recipe. In one of Julie Wildman's classes there were these really funky letter forms and then I came across them again in the latest John Neal's Letter Arts Review, so decided to try creating them... I used Bister ink then dropped in Dr Martin's concentrated watercolors and sprinkled with Schminke gold powder. They look so good in real life...

Scribbled Lives 2020 Wk 31 - Notan - Sometimes

http://www.yogiemp.com/Calligraphy/Artwork/ScribbledLives2020/ScribbledLives_July2020.html
Scribbled Lives 2020 Wk 31 - Notan - Sometimes. Interesting theme but for some reason I just wasn't in to it, maybe I'm burning out. There are days I just feel like doing NOTHING...

Notan is a Japanese term which literally means "light dark harmony". Artists use "notan studies" to explore different arrangements of light and dark elements in a painting, without having the distraction of other elements like color, texture and finer details.
In practice, this involves painting the darks with black and the lights with white (known as a 2 value notan). Sometimes, gray is also used as an intermediate value (3 or 4 value notans). A notan with more than 4 values is pretty much just a value study.

Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk 30 - Panagram - Water Drops

http://www.yogiemp.com/Calligraphy/Artwork/ScribbledLives2020/ScribbledLives_July2020.html
This week on Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk 30 the theme is  Panagram. I was in a mood to write my own... While looking for ideas I came across an image of a branch with water droplets and the rest evolved...
