Rocks In Its Bed

size: 7"w x 3.25"h
I had this end piece of St Armand w/c paper and just started doodling rock shapes using a ZIG Writer and graphite 2B pencil with paper stump. Text written with the Juice Up pen.
words: If it wasn't for the rocks in its bed, the stream would have no song. Carl Perkins

Doodled Leafy Vine - String Along And Play

size: 8"w x 7"h
I loved Helen Williams artwork... and then... years ago...she stopped posting. Have no idea why. I resurrected this leafy design from my stash while looking for something else... I can't remember whether it was my design or something I copied from Helen... but decided to finish it.
On St Armand w/c paper painted the artwork and added some doodling. Painted the stems with gold paint. Added the text in a funky style and then filled in the sections with line work using a Juice Up pen.
words: string along and play with me.

Shades Of Blue - Learn To Surf

I was in a mood to some kind of blending w/c and this evolved...
size: 6"sq
On St Armand 140# w/c paper. I mixed a large batch of diluted Daniel Smith Phthalo Blue (green shade) with water. Painted the whole page with that color, then painted over it with the same paint mixture leaving one section untouched (that very light blue). Repeated about 7 times before it wouldn't get any darker. I like doing this technique... It reminded me of the ebb and flow of waves.
Added the text using a pointed nib and Bleed Proof white in a loose script style.

words: You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf. Jon Kebat Zinn

Spritz Bkgrd - The Richer We Become

I was in a mood to do some w/c spritzing... so pulled out my Tim Holtz and Dylusion sprays which I haven't used in eons... Wet my St Armand w/c paper and sprayed with various colors. Blotted some areas and let dry. I really like the results. BIG GRIN and then I came across this quote by Martin Luther King Jr. while surfing the net and it just spoke to me.

size: 8"w x 9"h

I used a Bone lettering style and a Zebra pointed pen nib with a funky inky mix I made a long time ago... (Holbien Burnt Umber, Pearl Copper, Dk Green and N.E. Copper). Crazy mix I know...

words: The richer we become materially the poorer we become spiritually. We have learned to fly in the air like birds and swim in the sea like fish, but we have not learned the simple art of living together like brothers. Martin Luther King Jr.

Made Up Word - Nohowzaway

BVCG November Galleria topic is "Made Up Word". This is so not me... But one of my calligraphy friends (RW) gave me a boost and got me thinking... In the middle of the night I woke up and this word popped into my head. I immediately opened my iPad and wrote down the word because I know 2 seconds later I would have forgotten what word I just thought of... old age is no fun...
size: 9.5"w x 7"h
On Canal St Armand paper drew out the word "Nohowzaway" using a Zig Writer in "Inside Curve Variations" taught by Heidi Stolp. Colored with Kuretake "Gem Colors"  Used an HB pencil and paper stump to shadow the letters.  The rest of the words "no way no how I don't believe u" in "Blue Rider Typeface"
words: NOHOWZAWAY no way no how I don't believe u.
