DT Apr/13 - Modern Grid - Friends Are Those

My turn on the Quietfire Creations Blog today and I'm taking up Holly's challenge to try the Modern Grid technique. It's a fool your eye technique where the background appears to recede.

You can see Holly's version HERE.

I stamped the Gingko (Quietfire Design) leaves all over my white 5"w x 7"h card front using Versafine "Smokey Grey", then colored with Prisma colored pencils.

Die cut a bunch of Spellbinders "Basic Matting" rectangles from regular cardstock and used them as masks to color and draw the outlines. I sponged Pan Pastels.

Stamped my quote and sentiment (Quietfire Design) with Black Onyx and used the rectangles to outline the text. Colored with the pencils.

I then drew my inner square details and colored with blue pencils.

I added vein lines in the Gingko leaves with a Quickie Glue Pen and sprinkled with Glitter Ritz "Peridot"

I filled in the area of the plant word with Glossy Accents.

A one layer card with a lot of faux dimension.

And it fits for these challenges:

DT Jan/13 - Quill Weed Love

inside card
My turn on the Quietfire Creations Design Blog - 1st for the new year... Hope you had a Happy New Year and a wonderful holiday season. Now back to the grindstone. BIG GRIN

Thought I'd do a simple quilled project for a change. These coils are the most basic coil in the quilling repertoire - no quilling tools required, just some nimble fingers and a pointed tool like an awl point or pin point, a dab of white glue and some paper - either quilling strips if you have them or just cut some strips from copy paper 1/8"w.

Anyway you can see the details and descriptions on the Quietfire Creations Blog or on my web site here. You can also click on these images for a larger view.

Enjoy and I hope you try  your hand at making these coils.

DT Nov/12 - Quill Flower - With heart

It's my turn again on the Quietfire Creations Blog and I've created a simple quilled flower as the focal point and die cuts to go with the beautiful sentiment stamp. The quilled flower is made from some custom cut paper strips, a Cuttlebug "Quilled Flower Daisy" set (can also use other brand dies to cut the strip of little petals), a Quilled Creations "Fringed Mum" die (there are other brands that make fringing dies or cut it by hand with little pointed scissors and a bulldog clip - very easy).

Click on card image to see all the details on the Quietfire Creations blog or click here to go to my web site

And fits for these challenges:
