Art of the Fold - One Page Booklet - Flower Circle - Blossom

size closed: 2.5"dia

Our AofF for May is anything using 1 piece of paper. I've done them in square shape where it opens and lays flat again. But this time I decided to glue some of the pages so the booklet opens like a normal book... I love the results.

I used value pack black cardstock which is medium light weight. Folded like a normal construction (fold in half (landscape mode) and each section folded in half again and repeated in (portrait mode.) getting my 16 little squares.

Cut the 1st and 3rd score lines from one edge to the 3rd score line. Repeated from the other edge and cut the middle score up to the 3rd score lines. Then start accordion folding from one edge to the end. You should have a nice little booklet.

But you don't have a NORMAL booklet... so start gluing to make them pages...

Draw a circle that's larger than your folded booklet and cut the corners away to give the illusion of a round booklet which will keep your spines safe.

I used geli prints, pink and blue cardstock using a floral punch and adhered them to each page alternating color etc. Then cut smaller flowers and Peel Off glitter centers.

Added text to the geli print flowers in a funky hand with a gold gel pen.

words:  Blossom (on the cover) and Blooming (on the inside - 1 letter per page).

Art Of The Fold - Circle Flag Book - Dragonfly Floral

Our challenge for our  November 12th meeting is to create a Flag Book. Then one of our members created a circle one. She gave us a diagram with 32folds which I tried but couldn't get my sections folded equally and got frustrated... So a few days later, mulled it over and decided to try one with less folds and this is the result. I like it but it doesn't have the same interaction I get with the original folding.

Size open: 9"dia including letters

Since we're continuing with our goal to use what we have... I raided my off cut papers... and geli print stuff I made. so this one is made of all scraps.

I cut my circle to 7"dia from heavy weight copy paper, folded in half both ways to get a 90ยบ fold, then measured from 1 point  to the next quarter point and divided that into 4 sections and scored through the center point, repeating until all sections were divided. Creased the fold lines. It doesn't show in the image but the sections are slightly raised.

Created the black cut into a partial circle and adhered the 8 sections to every other folded section.

Die cut the letters Sizzix Alterations Bigz XL Word Play Alphabet from a piece of white cardstock I had sprayed with Distress Spritz (Peacock Blue, Worn Lipstick, Weathered Wood & Fossilized Amber), love the shimmer. Final touch added a small punched out heart between the words.

All the other items were cut with various size punches from geli print papers. I added a 3D pearl sticker to each floral center and glitter to the dragonfly wings..

MC Mar/16 - Easel Flourish Emblem - ECD Birthday Wishes - When I...

http://yogiemp.com/HP_cards/MiscChallenges/MiscChallenges2016/MCMar16_EaselFlourishEmblem_ECDBrithdayWishes_WhenI.html
Card Closed

http://yogiemp.com/HP_cards/MiscChallenges/MiscChallenges2016/MCMar16_EaselFlourishEmblem_ECDBrithdayWishes_WhenI.htmlI really was in a mood to create a feminine very involved card... I kept adding and playing... Love the way it turned out.

I'm using a couple dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs "Birthday" (from "Happy Birthday" 2pce set) and "Wishes" (from "Best Wishes") also available on Quietfire Design Here and Here. Also using the Anemone die set and soft finish cardstock.

And while I'm using bits and pieces I decided to do the same with the quote and make one all my own BIG GRIN. Using the main part from Quietfire Design "When I Saw This..." and the little word "made" from "If I Had a Star..." using a stamp positioner.

I'm also using a bunch of various elements from my stash and some quilled elements from my last quilling session.

So to see all the details and descriptions and more views, just click on any image. Enjoy.

And it fits for these challenges:
Crafty Calender Challenge  monthly Mar  Special Female
Dies R Us  #44  shaped card

I'm really enjoying making easel and multi fold cards lately... So here's another easel card, but this time as a window.

I asked Suzanne from Quietfire Design to make a calligraphed "Spring" word to eCut. Love what she came up with. I put it into a frame on my electronic cutting mat and welded the elements together to create the word/window.

Anyway, you can see all the details and descriptions by clicking on either image. Enjoy.

I'm also using a sentiment and quote stamp from Quietfire Design.

QF Rubber - Happy Family Days - HB

ID: QF Rubber - Labels 1 - HB
You can NEVER have enough "Happy Birthday" stamps... and I'm so glad Suzanne from Quietfire Design  came up with another one for my repertoire. It's paired up with a beautiful flourished frame that fits Spellbinder's Label 1 die (5 stamps on the "Happy Family" set). Love it, Love this card, it makes me sooooo happy (pun intended) love the vibrant colors and fun-ness of it.
side view - you can see the score lines

I stamped the Flourish Frame along left and right side edges of cream cardstock using Versafine Black Onyx, embossed with clear embossing powder, colored it with Prisma colored pencils and a Lyra blender pencil. Used my Scor-it board and made vertical score lines every 1/2".

Layered my panel onto a bright red cardstock, then a side folded cream card (5"w x 7"h).
Stamped the sentiment and Flourish Frame with the black, clear embossed, die cut with Spellbinder's Label 1 and sponged Distress Mustard Seed and then some Wild Honey around the edges. Adhered to card with 3D foam tape.
Punched out a bunch of small and medium sized Sakura blossoms (Carla Craft) from decorative paper that had the same colors. Die cut the leaves (Dee's Distinctively "Large Green Leaf") and added some Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils to the green decorative paper I used to give it a more Limey color, wet with my water brush. Adhered the elements, then added matching small and medium rhinestones in the centers of the flowers.

Punched out the butterfly (EK Success layer punch) - another piece of decorative paper (my stash is very slowly dwindling...), applied glue and sprinkled with Stampendous "Crystal Snow"

Click on images to see larger versions etc. Enjoy.

MC May/12 - Red Leaf - Thanks

It's been a while since my last post, but that's not saying I haven't been creating. I worked on and finished my 2 calligraphic pieces I'll be entering into this year's Stampede contest - but I can't upload them till June 27th - Sigh!!

This card was made specifically for a friend who just got back from a European cruise and stopped off in Amsterdam and bought me some "Neuhaus" chocolates - absolutely delicious. Yum!!

I was inspired by these red leaf, white blossomed flowers that are growing in my condo complex. They're just so pretty. So a little calligraphy, a little punching and a little die cutting and voila. Anyway to see more details and descriptions, just click on card image and enjoy

MC Mar/12 - Scroll Frame - Just Because

I had another friends play day yesterday and we had a great time. She was playing with my newest punches while I was slaving away with her taxes... ROFL.

Anyway one of the punches was the EK Success Scroll Pattern which I love. I've done a couple cards using it already, so thought I'd see what I could make using my electronic cutter and a scanned image of the pattern. I've got 3 variations from the same cut out. Two other cards will come at a later time, one uses the cut out as a stencil, another thermal embossed the positive piece which had all these nice colors on it from using it as a stencil and the this card which uses the negative pieces left on my cutting mat.

So to see more details and descriptions, just click on card image and enjoy

MC Mar/12 - Positive Negative - T of Y

There was one challenge I really wanted to do and have left it to the last minute... The challenge was to use the positive and negative of a punched or die cut element. I love using both parts of punches, die cuts or even when I use my electronic cutter.

I'm using my electronic cutter for some of the petal shapes in the bottom flower. I wanted 4 sizes of the same flower shape...

Anyway to see more details and descriptions just click on card image and enjoy.

I'm using a sentiment stamp from Quietfire Design

And it fits for these challenges:

MC Mar/12 - Tim's Tech - Mosaic A Smile

Tim decided this year not to do the 12 Days of Christmas in December, but rather to do a tag a month. I'm still trying to decide which method I prefer. The adrenaline rush of working every day on a different tag/technique, or leisurely working on 1 per month...
He started the 1st one in Feb, which I did not work on... This is Tim's 2nd technique tag. The Mosaic technique is really nice and quite adaptable for all kinds of projects.

And on another note, went over to Paper Pastimes (my main rubber stamping store in Calgary) yesterday for a quilling afternoon with friends. Mari, one of the ladies showed us how she made a two colored petaled flower. Pretty. We all worked diligently making them. When I got home I finished it off by adhering it to a base circle, adding the texture gem in the center and then adhering it to the tattered flowers.

I'm also using a Quietfire Design quote stamp

MC Jan/12 - Cone Flowers - Love

Sorry that it's been a while since my last post, have been busy at work - tax time...

Today's card is another "Love" card, using a new petal shape for my cones. Usually I just fold my sides of the circle over once, but this time I used a scalloped circle and folded them back to create a little ruffle in the petal. Will do this again, love the look.

It's also the first time I've ever made a frame around a punched out tag.

MC Sept/11 - Sapphire - Let it Snow

Well I picked up these decorative petals at Michael's the other day - regular $16.99 and got them for $1.69 - what a great deal for 300 petals. Half were a metallic gauzy type and half were a creamy white with pink splotches. Why cut your own petals when you can get them for this price. So out came the low melt glue gun and voila a flower emerged. BIG GRIN.

Now you may have noticed some snowflakes on the card and the stamped sentiment saying "Let it snow...", but then when you get to the bottom of the card that's where it says, "I've got spring in my heart", and with that I can handle the winter that's around the corner.

There's lots of bling in the ribbon (metallic & glitter)

This week's theme over on Created By Hand and Quietfire Creations is "Sapphire"

Anyway to see more details and descriptions, just click on card image and enjoy.

MC July /11 - Metallic - Flower Sampler

I've been wanting to make a flower sampler for a while now and after finishing this one, realized I can make at least one more if not two... So this may become a series. Sheesh. Really like the way it turned out.

There are so many varieties of hand made flowers out there that it's hard to keep track of them. I make them, sometimes come up with twists and then go on to the next one and before I know it a couple months have gone by and I forgot all about the first one I made that I loved....
No more, now they'll be a gentle reminder on my wall. It will be framed in a black metal frame as soon as I get one this week.

And the theme this week over on Created By Hand and Quietfire Creations is Fireworks or Metallic - I guess i went with metallic, although originally I thought the fireworks word said flowers. Oh well, it manage to work out anyway. BIG GRIN.

Anyway to see details, descriptions etc, just click on image. Enjoy
PS I also managed to sneak in a rubber stamp from Quietfire Design - one of the Quote Marks stamps that I love.

And it fits for these challenges:

Revolving Center cards

So had a wonderful play day with some friends. First got the serious stuff out of the way (auditing our Guilds financial stuff, then got into show and share and playing...

I've done revolving center cards before. I remember making a birthday card for my aunt eons ago. I'm so glad my friend re-introduced me to them today. So click on the card at left to see how we made the flower, which she also taught us today, and some closeups and more details etc.

Then I got a lesson on using Pen Score - moldable foam, something else I've had for eons, tried a couple times and then just left alone - didn't like it. I like it now BIG GRIN. The background for this card on the right was made using that material. It worked so well. Thanks Fran.

So you can click on the card to the right to see more details and descriptions for that card too.

PS both cards use the latest Quietfire Design rubber stamps. The one on the left uses "Invisible tears..." and the one on the right uses "How old would you be..." they also both are using a quote from the Friendship set.

Enjoy.

MC May 11 - Just Because

I got my new rubber from Quietfire Design last night, but it was too late to play with it other than cut the stamps from the sheet. There were over 20 stamps - sentiments like the 2 on the front of this card, and quotes like on the inside of the card. They're just gorgeous.

Anyway to see close ups and details/descriptions, just click on either card image. Enjoy
