Art Of The Fold - One Page Booklet - Think Green

size closed: 2.75"w x 2.25"h x .5"thk
Our AofF for May is anything using 1 piece of paper. I've done a few of these but this time I decided to glue some of the pages and create pockets so the booklet opens like a normal book... I love the results and decided I wanted an all GREEN theme...

I used my Guild's Genoa Bond paper, folded to create 16 sections. Cut the paper thru 1st & 3rd lines from the left edge thru 3 sections, then from the right edge thru the 2nd line thru 3 sections, and folded starting at one end till the end.

Glued a very thin line wherever needed to create a page/pocket and then punching a semi circle either at the edge or top depending on how the page was glued. I reinforced the glued edges with a very thin piece of geli print scraps.

Used various gel pens and Clean Color pens for the colored text.

Created tags to fit the pockets with the Genoa Bond paper and then adhered a piece of a dark green heavy paper. Wrote in green color names using a Gelly Roll white gel pen.

Art of the Fold - One Page Booklet - Flower Circle - Blossom

size closed: 2.5"dia

Our AofF for May is anything using 1 piece of paper. I've done them in square shape where it opens and lays flat again. But this time I decided to glue some of the pages so the booklet opens like a normal book... I love the results.

I used value pack black cardstock which is medium light weight. Folded like a normal construction (fold in half (landscape mode) and each section folded in half again and repeated in (portrait mode.) getting my 16 little squares.

Cut the 1st and 3rd score lines from one edge to the 3rd score line. Repeated from the other edge and cut the middle score up to the 3rd score lines. Then start accordion folding from one edge to the end. You should have a nice little booklet.

But you don't have a NORMAL booklet... so start gluing to make them pages...

Draw a circle that's larger than your folded booklet and cut the corners away to give the illusion of a round booklet which will keep your spines safe.

I used geli prints, pink and blue cardstock using a floral punch and adhered them to each page alternating color etc. Then cut smaller flowers and Peel Off glitter centers.

Added text to the geli print flowers in a funky hand with a gold gel pen.

words:  Blossom (on the cover) and Blooming (on the inside - 1 letter per page).

Weave - Black Border

size: 7"h x 5"w
I started weaving some pieces and then decided to create a book with them using 2 for the covers and then more for some dividers. Haven't decided yet what paper to use between the weaves...
I raided my scraps for all the strips of geli print paper I have (still have a few left...). I'll be making at least 2 more I think. I want a nice sized booklet.
I adhered the weave to some white Staples cardstock then added the black border.
Time will tell what else I'll do...

Origami Booklets - Geli Prints

size: 4.5"w x 5.5"h x 1.5" thk.
size: 4.75"w x 4.25"h x .75" thk

I made a pile of geli prints at my last gals get together and created Origami Booklets from them... Nothing inside them yet.
The green one has 18pages including the covers. It's the largest I've done one so far. I reinforced the spine using 110lb cardstock and then glued a geli print onto it.
The orangey one has 10 pages including covers.
Both sizes are made from 8.5 x 11 paper depending on the orientation of your folds you can get either size.

3 Page Geli Print Card

Size: 5"w x 6.75"h
One of our Crafty Dozen gals made a card like this and brought it in to show us. She'll be showing some of the gals at the next Wed get together which I won't be at. I only go to P&I for the past while... So thought I'd give it a try on my own. I love the results but left it without words since I have no idea whom to give it to...
It almost reminds me of a baby card...

I used Value Pack blue and some pale pink cardstock and my geli print paper.
The card base is folded with approx 1/2 gutter in the middle for the middle page to fit in and have room for the embellies.
Rounded the corners. Added the pockets for the bookmarks to each page.
Raided my boxes of pre-die cut or electronically cut butterflies and flowers etc. When everything was glued down... I added some mini rhinestones or butterflies made from woven threads.

Origami Booklet - Beyond The Horizon

size closed: 3.75"w x 3"
I was creating this little booklet at my Guild's play day this past Saturday. I love making these little guys... I'm using one of my recent geli prints I made. Added the text in a style with a ZIG Writer.

Origami Booklet - Green Geli Print - With Buckle

size closed: 5" sq
I was in a mood to create a square booklet so pulled out my recently made geli papers. I love making these little booklets... I'm using one of my recent geli prints I made.
Was rummaging for something and came across this molded buckle type thing - I again made eons ago... so thought I'd use it on this belt.
No text in this one yet...

Funky Card - Life (Art Of The Fold)

Size: 6.5"w x 8"h
This is a weird evolved card - bottom image... it started out with the left (top to bottom) piece which was homework for our next Art Of The Fold meeting using double tab accordion. Then I played with one with single tabs (which I like better), both using my geli print paper.

I had set it aside to work on this other structure that sounded interesting... the blue square section which had interlocking and cut sections. I had adhered it to the orangey piece and then said it would make an interesting card... Then I needed something more for the inside, I used my Art Of The Fold homework pieces.

But of course it didn't stand so had to put the bottom frame on it... and a card is nothing without some calligraphy so added the quote with a black ZIG Calligraphy pen and then added the white highlight using a Gelly Roll 08 pen.

Since I had the inside done I needed something for the front... So tore apart and adhered the marbled rice paper piece from eons ago. I had adhered only the right section, but I had a leftover piece so added it to the other side of the front and wrote in the letters for LIFE with the other end on the calligraphy pen.

I don't know when I had such a convoluted way of making a card...

Monday Creativeness - Geli Prints

I was running low of my geli prints... My immediate area of my craft table was finally free... so decided to make more. I have LBS End paper which I cut in half. After about 4 hours I came away with 31 prints (12" x 14"). I printed on both sides, basically the main paint on the front and whatever was left over on the geli plate was spritzed with water and another print pulled. Love them all especially the top batch.
It was a productive day.

Origmi Booklet - Thoughtful Words

I did a Google search of "Origami" on my website and came up with a bunch of stuff and this structure was one of them which I did in 2015... I said perfect since I only had 4 words for a booklet.

I used scrapbook cream and deep brown cardstock for the pages, covers and inserts

INSTRUCTIONS:
No glue or adhesive of any kind and no cutting other than to make sure all your pages are the same size and your links/spine are the right size

My booklet starts out as an 9-7/8" x 6.25" piece of paper and ends up being approx 4.75" x 3.125"

BOOKLET CONSISTS OF:
Covers - 2 sheets
Spine - 1 sheet
Pages - a sheet for each page (my booklet has 3 pages)
Links - same quantity of sheets as number of pages + 1 sheet for the spine.

All sheets should be the exact same size. Each page in the booklet will turn out to be 1/4 the size of your sheet. So an 8.5 x 11" sheet will give you a page size of 4.25”h x 5.5"w links/spine size of 4.25 h x 11” w - or page size of 5.5”h x 4.25”w and links/spine of 5.5”h x 8.5”w
Note: Use decorative papers for the covers, spine, pages and external links. Inner links can be any paper since they are basically hidden.

Fold (top to bottom) in thirds (doesn’t matter if the thirds are equal as long as the edges meet) - this will be the height of your booklet. Fold pages (left to right) of paper so edges meet each other (this will be the width of your booklet).

Cut your spine pieces and fold in half and slip into folded page slots - one side into the right folded page and the other side into the left folded page.
When all pages are slipped in, use your spine piece to slip into both cover pieces.

Basic Weave - Funky Weave Cards

I took an online class thru Edmonton Calligraphy Guild On paper weaving with  Suzie Beringer. She had an abstract w/c piece done on Arches Text Wove. She then printed out some text, overlapping and repositioning the copy to get a more textural look to the words then cut strips of it and wove it thru her w/c piece in one area. Striking.
Size: both 5"w x 6"h
While she was working I was doing basic weaving using geli off cuts...  On black textured cardstock, in a greeting card format, created my weaving cuts (one with basic straight cuts the other with a wavy cut) and inserted strips of the geli print papers. I like the results. Added some text to finish of the card. Just 4 U on the straight cut card and Hello on the wavy cut card. On the inside of the wavy lined card I colored the visible strips with a black ZIG Writer. The basic weave on the other card I left as is gluing down the ends for neatness.

Rotating Spinner Card - BFlies - Just 4U

The mechanism is the aqua blue circle scored to create 24 sections and a 1.25" circle in the center, then 7 sections cut away including the small center circle. Accordion folded both ways to make the mechanism very pliable. (the 1st section will be glued to the card base at the end of construction).

Cream squares glued to the mechanism, then the butterflies punched out of geli print papers and adhered to the squares.. Added glitter to the body area. This was then mounted to a pearlized metallic cream cardstock and then mounted to the blue textured cardbase.

I created the Happy Birthday words  on another geli print, cut out/pasted to the inside.

ECS Env Exchange - Jan 2026- Edwina Klein

Using my cut off ends of a bunch of Geli prints created the envelope. Drew out Edwina's name on a yellowish cardstock, outline with a black ZIG Writer and cut it out.

Card was also made with geli print ends and words done in shadow lettering style...

Art Of The Fold - Spinner Card - From Me To You

size closed: 5.5"sq
The challenge for our next Art Of The Fold Group (Jan 2026) has us making a spinner card and this is my 2nd card...  couldn't resist trying to make one that didn't catch when opening the card and since Valentine's is around the corner... figured hearts was appropriate.
Again I used scraps for the card. Basic white card base, then I glued the red paper to the card base.
I used various punches and dies and did a bit of gold painting on the Spellbinder dies using US ArtQuest Mica Color Metallic set.

I LOVE doing "Shadow Lettering" and did that on this card using both a ZIG Writer or a Gelly Roll white gel pen.

Star Fun Card - Happy Birthday

size: 5"h x 7"w
I came across this structure on Facebook by The Serene Stamper (Tina Zinck)

I used my geli printed paper: 6 pieces (5"h x 4"w) - score and fold 4 pieces (.5", 1.5", 2.5"& 3.5")
score and fold the other 2 pcs (1", 2" & 3"
Glue the 1/2" sections to the card base starting at the left edge and snugging the 2nd 1/2" section of the 1st piece to butt against the 1st glued piece. Glue the 2nd piece butted against the 1st piece. Repeat on back side of card base.
The other 2 pieces - one gets glued  between the 1st 2 sections on the front. Glue the ends to either side of the already glued down sections. Repeat on other side of card base.
These pieces will fold flat to become a 5 x 7" card.
Add words or whatever to the remaining card.

Art Of The Fold - Spinner Card -My Wish To You

size closed: 5.5"sq
The challenge for our next Art Of The Fold Group (Jan 2026) has us making a spinner card. I like the idea of it but not so much the construction. Will have to mull it over for a while... And on my theme of trying to use things up it was made completely from scraps except the base which is basic white cardstock.

I raided my geli print scraps, mainly cut of ends from other projects... and glued them to the white cardbase. I like the results...
Die cut circles the appropriate size. Folded the mechanism and glued to the inside, then glued the circles onto it.
Link Spinner Card base Instr HERE
Raided my florals/leaves and BFly stash and adhered them making sure everything rotated properly without sticking... Added rhinestone gems to flower centers.
Used Shadow lettering style for the words.
