MC May/13 - Bugaboo Easel - The doors We Open

card closed
I'm a guest designer over on the Quirky Crafts Challenge Blog this week. The challenge being Black & White with a touch of red. I was also given this graduation digi image from Limited Runs.

So I enlarged it and cut it out with my electronic cutter, creating an easel card. Then I started a piece process to add interest and texture to the black & white.

Cut the cap from black cardstock and embossed with Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder. Added two types of ribbons to dilineate the edges, and the side seam.

side view
Stamped the word "Congratulations" (Quietfire Design "10 tiny words" set") on the rolled document using Versafine Black Onyx.Scribbled some text under that to look like a written document...

Used white Puffs for the icing and heat activated..

Sponged Distress Black Soot using a crafter's Workshop "dots" stencil and clear embossed it. Did the stripes at the bottom with a black Zig Writer, and a mix of Copic White with water and a pointed pen nib for the white areas.

Die cut the lady bug (eCraft Designs) from black and red paper and glued the elements together then onto the card. Added the star on the cap.

I covered the floor with a black textured paper. Stamped the quote (Quietfire Design) with the Versafine black on white cardstock, clear embossed, then die cut using the drop out section of a Memory Box "Palace Oval frame" set. Adhered to card with 3D foam squares. It acts as the stopper.

MC Apr/13 - Fairy Dust Digi - A Journey Shoes

I was asked to be a guest designer on Lexi's Creations with a theme of lace/ribbon. I was also given a choice of a digi image and I thought the Vintage boots (Fairy Dust Crafts) would be just right for lace and ribbons. BIG GRIN.

I printed it out on 110# white cardstock and cut out the upper section so it stood above the card fold. The card is 8.5"w x 4"h.

Colored the shoes with Prisma colored pencils and a Lyra Splendor Blender. Printed the shoe image again from regular cardstock and cut out the brown area to use as a stencil to stamp a background stamp (Impression Obsession "Flourishes") decoration on the shoes using Versafine Vintage Sepia and embossing with a rusty brown embossing powder.

Taped the cut out back onto the shoes and then cut out around the whole shoe design to use as a mask for stamping my background using the same stamp as above with Perfect Medium and clear embossing. Sponging with Distress Antique Linen & Spun Sugar.

Stamped the quote (Quietfire Design) with the Vintage Sepia and clear embossed.

Stamped the lace edging (Kaiser Craft) with Perfect Medium and clear embossed.

Punched out holes around the background and threaded a burgundy narrow ribbon. As a final touch, added Liquid Pearls "White Opal" for the faux buttons.

It fits for these challenges:

Jan/12 - Bugaboo Digis - Let Them Eat Cake

I was asked to be a guest designer on Quirky Crafts blog challenge and to use a Bugaboo digi stamp. The theme is "Food Glorious Food". As it turned out I got two digi's. I wasn't that intrigued by the first image, so got one that was more "me". The funny thing is, when I printed the images out on my white card, I really liked both of them, they were clean looking, so hence I made two cards - Big Grin.

The first image I got was the chick holding the cake, and while I was percolating what to do with her, I decided to go "French" and use Quietfire Designs French phrases, Flourished Eiffel Tower & the quote stamp from the Let them Eat Cake set. I paired it  up with a new stamp from Old Island Rubber stamps, the Cafe chair and table (it has two chairs, but I left one off). Everything was stamped with Versafine Black Onyx. I only colored the digi with colored pencils so it would stand out. Added teardrop green rhinestone earrings and green Stickles on the shoes (she definitely needed the glitz BIG GRIN) I liked the clean and fresh look of the white. I added just a touch of edging with Distress my dirty red sponger.

The second image is one I chose and love the quirkiness of the chick... Again I kept the card simple, only coloring the digi with colored pencils and adding a piece of aluminum tape for the stove outline. Used a couple sizes of an alphabet stamp set (Just Rite "Brayton") to stamp the "Let's Celebrate" along the side. The blurb is part of the digi set and then I punched it out with a jumbo Fiskars punch, sponging some Dusty Concord around the edges.

And it also fits for these challenges:

Cute Card Thursday  #197 Happy New Year
