And another 3 letters bite the dust. Only 4 more to go and then I have to figure out how to bind them... And love all these mini nail art rhinestones - Thanks Heather Victoria Held for introducing them to us in our recent class.

 Love using the instacoll for a raised gilding look. And love tooling my flat gilding.

Thanks Gemma Black for the great Retro Deco class and loving using those roses you showed us how to create. Something so simple...

Show Me Sunday on Suzanne's Fan Group - Foiling

This is what I posted on SHOW ME SUNDAY on Suzanne Cannon's Fan Group Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/Suzanne.Cannon.fan.group/).

I just got a Foil Quill gadget for my Silhouette Cameo machine. Works really well. Having fun with it.

I'm using the "Flourished Heart" from Suzanne available on Silhouette onLine store. The 1st image is the basic foiling with the largest tip. The 2nd image is the same heart but the negative space colored with Twinkles H2º "Solar Gold". The 3rd image is the same heart but filled with a sketching stroke. Now all I have to do is figure out how to get a totally solid foiled image... PS I keep all my scraps to use with my battery operated foiling tool (not available as battery any more only electrical).

And for those of you who don't have either of the above tools... these images are done with an iron. I placed a pad of paper on my desk, then a silicon craft sheet, then my die - cut edge facing up, then my foil - colored side facing down, then my cardstock, then a very hot iron - no steam. PS I taped my cardstock down on one edge so I could lift it to check if all was foiled and continue foiling BIG GRIN.

MC June/18 - Alcohol Gold Foil - ECD Special - Let Your Heart - HB

I've recently been seeing a lot of images using alcohol ink and gold foil, so you know my reaction... had to try it too. I was putting it off until I cleaned off my desk a bit and found some rubber gloves... but then said the hell with that and just did the technique with the few bottles I had lying on my desk... I was extremely happy with the results, so will play with it so more when I find my gloves ROFL.

I recently acquired a Go Press And Foil machine by Couture Creations. It works well. So I used it to create the word Noel and used one of their metal stamps to create the Holly cluster

I seem to have made so many Xmas cards this year that I never got around to posting this one... So I figured I'd better get to it. BIG GRIN as today is Christmas. Have a Merry and Safe one.

MC Dec/15 - Merry Christmas Tree - Gold & Green Foil

 

I mentioned a little while back I came across a blog post using the Minc machine for foil application... and I had said it should work with my hot laminator. And it does.

You do need a really good laser print (so I bought a new printer... cheap on Amazon.ca), and good foil which I purchased from Texas Craft "Papilio" in various golds and colors. These two cards are a couple more of the results. These use my own calligraphy for the tree which I mimic'd from something I saw on line.

MC Oct/15 - ECD Best Wishes - Foil Edged - Blessed By The

I got my new laser printer the other day and have continued to experiment with foil and my laminator... Love the results from this card. Nicely aged look to the foil...


I used the Elizabeth Craft Designs "Berry Branch" to create the negative and positive foil edged pieces on the front, as well as die cutting it from fun foam to use as a stamp on the inside.


Also used the "Sea Glass" embossing folder for the edges and the "Best Wishes" die (also available on Quietfire Design HERE)

And quote stamp by Quietfire Design - "Blessed By The Christmas..."

MC Oct/15 - ECD Season's Greetings - Winter Scene - Xmas Waves

I got this new stamp from Impression Obsession "CAC Winter Scene" and of course had to use it right away... On the front it's painted and on the inside I used colored pencils.


PS: this card uses the gold contact paper and not Becca's technique...

Then there's that gold border around the circles... Becca Feeken from Amazing Paper Grace blog was using a Minc machine to get great gilded borders around open work die cuts... You can see her post HERE. I knew in the back of my mind my hot laminator could do something similar, so I went about testing it out... Yes it does do the foil technique but definitely not as good as Becca got...

Basically you definitely need a really good black and white laser print. My printer is old, the rollers are grungy and my cartridge is over 3 years old... So I've ordered a new Laser printer hoping to get really good prints. I'm going to try printing something at work and also doing a photo copy to see if those will work better with my laminator. I have a GBC 9" Document Laminator. So I will continue to experiment...

But for my card I used shiny gold contact paper I picked up in one of those dollar stores eons ago (ps it cost more than a dollar...) and the Spellbinders Standard Circles small and large sets. Love the results.
