Scribbled Lives 2022 - Wk 11 - One Word - Unstopable

Scribbled Lives 2022 - Wk 11 - One Word - Unstopable. I know I spelt it wrong, so now you know it's definitely mine... It just looked so right and balanced on my paper...

I used Glossy Accents which is why I included the 2nd image. Love the texture of the paper shining through the glossiness.

BVCG July Lettering Challenge - Day 21 & 22.

Something a little different for me- writing on very rough watercolor paper. I like the effect I got for "thunderstorms". I'm also using one of my Dreaming Dogs ruling pens. LOVE them.

BVCG July Lettering Challenge - Day 15 & 16 - Week 3 is here...

Mostly Bister inks on both pieces. A bit of glitter in the ocean piece. Still loving my Dreaming Dogs ruling pens.

The haiku is hard to see in the night sky piece...
Haiku: Lying in the grass
reaching to touch the soft sky
white splatters in night.

Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk 24 - Shared Quote #3 and #4. After seeing the results of Nancy Hayes Hills lettering I was so inspired to try something similar...  Hers was totally AWESOME... but I'm content with mine. Need to play some more... which I did the next day and created #4...

Akim with Julie Wildman - Enjoy Your Day

http://yogiemp.com/Calligraphy/AkimWithJulieWildman.html
Day 2 of the Variations of Akim class with Julie Wildman. Lots of stroke practicing with various tools. I NEED A LOT MORE PRACTICE...

But then I was in a mood to do something we'll be playing with tomorrow... I love the vibrancy of the Pit Pastel pencil coloring against the black and the Bleed Proof writing. I'm using my favorite brand of ruling pens "Dreaming Dogs" although I must admit this is one (Little Lie) of the least favorite of the 6 I have.. But it worked well with this style of writing.

BVCG March Lettering Challenge Day 23 & 24

http://yogiemp.com/Calligraphy/Artwork/BVCG_LetteringChallege_Mar2020/BVCG_LetteringChallengeMar2020_Week4.html

BVCG March Lettering Challenge day 23 & 24.

Wrote out the word with a Parallel pen and Winsor and Newton watercolors. Shadowed with a Micron. Added the hanging flowers with a pointed brush.

I used Calligraphica Crystals "Nickel" which in real life has a silvery look to it. I thought it was a nice grey which is what Xanadu is... Love the word too... Used a Dreaming Dogs ruling pen, but can't remember which one...

Bister Ink Experiment

http://yogiemp.com/Calligraphy/Artwork/BisterInkExperiment.html
(water logged letters still wet)
I really love Bister inks. Easy to use and vibrant or muted results can be achieved.

http://yogiemp.com/Calligraphy/Artwork/BisterInkExperiment.html
(used the left over powders and still more powder left over...)
I recently saw a piece done by Carol DuBosch using them sprinkled onto rough watercolor paper and then writing with a wet tool.

You may have seen a previous piece I did using the Bister inks but dropping the powders into the wet letters (see HERE) which I did for a challenge on the Scribbled Lives 2020 Facebook page. So I thought I'd try the way Carol described it. I'm definitely going to do more experimenting.,,

Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk 10 - Texture - The True Worth Of A Man

http://www.yogiemp.com/Calligraphy/Artwork/ScribbledLives2020/ScribbledLives_Mar2020.html
We're in to March challenges for the Scribbled Lives 2020 Facebook group already. Time is just flying by...

The theme this week is creating texture with letters and it's my 2nd entry BIG GRIN.

I looked up texture quotes and came across this one about the worth of a man and the rest just evolved. I used my Dreaming Dogs "Little Lie" ruling pen and a funky monoline for the left side of the background and a thick funky bold style using a 6.0 Parallel pen for the right side of the background. The center text is pointed pen.

wk 2 - Rivalry - K Gibran 1 & 2

http://www.yogiemp.com/Calligraphy/Artwork/ScribbledLives2020/ScribbledLives_Jan2020.html
2nd week of the Scribbled Lives 2020 and another of choices... with or without the red band??

I used my new Dreaming Dogs "Aldus" ruling pen and various FW acrylic inks. Click on either piece to see more details etc. Enjoy

Personally I like the one with the red band. I think it has more of a contrast and tension.

Wk 1 - Kindness - Challenge

http://www.yogiemp.com/Calligraphy/Artwork/ScribbledLives2020/ScribbledLives_Jan2020.html

I joined a weekly private Facebook Calligraphy Challenge and the first week is the word Kindness.

I scanned the plain one to see if I wanted to add anything more to it and decided I wanted to add the orange fill areas. It seems so far the consensus is the plain one is preferred... C'est la vie - I like the colored one more - it's more alive.

Which do you prefer??
