BVCG Lettering Challenge Day 1 - 4

We've started another month's BVCG Lettering Challenge. This one is all about COLORS... right up my alley. BIG GRIN.

I thought I'd add some artwork about the color, and in this case a few gems/crystals.

Floral - Georgia O'Keefe - I cannot Sing, I Paint

Our Guild (BVCG.ca) has a theme of pick an artist, create some artwork in his/her style and then do something calligraphic with that style... I love a lot of Georgia's paintings especially her large abstract florals. I created my own over sized floral painting - not sure if it's more a rose or a peony. I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to the details of flowers.

BVCG Feb Lettering Challenge - Trendsetter and Unbutton

 

 I thought I'd do something mosaic style this time using my Daniel Smith watercolors. A little tedious but fun none the less.

For the "unbutton" I used one of my geli plate backgrounds from eons ago... They seem to be coming in handy lately... then added buttonhole dots to the circle centers.

Feb/20 - BVCG Lettering Challenge - Literally and Mammoth

Another 2 days worth of words... Day 12 and 13 of the BVCG Feb Lettering Challenge. 

I'm using my Daniel Smith watercolors and my Parallel pen for the "Literally" adding a black line and white gel dot doodling.

For the Mammoth I had written the word with my Bister inks and a 6.0 Parallel pen. Didn't really like the results, so MISTED with water. I like what happens when I don't like something and then just spray it to death... When dry, wrote in my word with Bleed Proof white ink and a smaller Parallel pen.

 

BVCG Feb/20 Lettering Challenge - Hitchhike & Illuminate

Day 8 & 9 of the BVCG Feb/20 Lettering Challenge. Some of these words are really long, so I've been having to use smaller nibs or scrunching the letters...

I'm using a semi dry brush technique o Hitchhike ad my Daniel Smith Watercolors.

And a gold gel pen and Stickles glitter on Illuminate.

Jan/20 - Watercolor Lt Pink Peony - And The Wind

And a 3rd watercolor flower - a peony. I think I like this one the best so far... I outline the flower using FW acrylic white ink. And I'm doing more of the pointed pen lettering.

Jan/20 - Watercolor Yellow Rose - What's In A Rose

As mentioned before I wanted to do more water coloring this year and decided to do a bunch of flower images... For this one I'm using a Kit & Clowder free rose image that I altered slightly

And since I'm taking a pointed pen class taught by Kerri Forster this month thought I'd use that type of lettering...

and here's a pic of how I store my Daniel Smith watercolors. I've got more than 100 of them and needless to say normal palettes won't hold all my colors - so have improvised... I'm waiting on delivery for another set of 2 palettes coming in a week or so so I can put the rest of my paints in them. They've got a magnetic strip under them to hold them in the palette. Works really well for me.
