Scribbled Lives 2024 - Wk 44 - 1 Word 5 Ways- Color

Oh this was a fun exercise Beth Lee. Thanks. Couldn't resist using the word "Color" Big Grin
Size: 7.5"sq
On Canson Mixed Media used some gouache I had laying around from a project a while back... It's extremely rare I use gouache I prefer watercolors...
1: Copic wide 1st double dipping into 2 colors. When dry outlined with a med blue Juice up pen.
2: Pointed pen, Zebra nib into Kuretake Gold Mica ink.
3: Blue Parallel pen into the darkest of the 4 colors I had mixed.
4: Zig Writer in the multi colored work in one of Violet Smythe's funky styles and painted with the gouache.
5: Pointed pen in Dot Lettering as taught by Mina Taylor and dots created with the embossing tool into the rusty orange gouache.

ECS - Rainbow - Flag Booklet

I'm doing this project for 2 challenges...one for the Edmonton Calligraphy Society where the challenge for March was anything "Rainbow", and also for our Art Of The Fold Facebook group for April 6th meeting. We decided to do more flag books for our next meeting or/and plus anything you'd like to do...

I'm really pleased with the outcome of this flag booklet. All my pages finally lay flat when stretched out so everything can be read.

I'm also using some of my cherished Ruche (very heavy/thk) paper which I bought when Scrapbooker's Paradise was around... for the decorative elements. And for the main "rainbow" word I inked a Copic extra wide modified nib with 3 colors of alcohol ink.

ECS Challenge - Rainbows -Friends Are Like

ECS March Challenge - Rainbows -Friends Are Like. Thought I'd do this months Edmonton Calligraphy Society challenge... Rainbows are such a nice topic.

I altered a Copic extra wide pen to do calligraphy with it, and altered it again to create my "rainbows" word. I'm happy. I'm going to Kensington Art Supply on Monday so will splurge on a bunch more copic stuff... It should come in handy for a Copic ZOOM class I'm taking on Saturday (6hrs I'm going to be pooped...)

Anyway click on any image for more details etc. Enjoy

BVCG Feb Lettering Challenge - Vacuum & Wellness

http://yogiemp.com/Calligraphy/Artwork/BVCG_LetteringChallege_Feb2020/BVCG_LetteringChallengeFeb2020_Week4.html
http://yogiemp.com/Calligraphy/Artwork/BVCG_LetteringChallege_Feb2020/BVCG_LetteringChallengeFeb2020_Week4.htmlAnother week to go and well be finished with February's BVCG Lettering Challenge - sigh!! Today I'm showing days 22 and 23.

I love using the Lyra graphite pencil. It was trick Kerri Forster from our Guild showed us, to use a sharp blade to create a broad edge tool from a regular pencil shape. I've shaped a lot of pencils since then BIG GRIN

I also had fun with the broad Copic marker...

BVCG Dec Lettering Challenge - Day 11 & 12

http://www.yogiemp.com/Calligraphy/Artwork/BVCG_LetteringChallenge_Dec2019/BVCG_LetteringChallengeDec2019_Week2.htmlDay 11 & 12 of the BVCG December Lettering Challenge(Check the BVCG.ca website on the Calendar page for the December word list.). Copic markers on glossy photo paper. I'm not a Copic fan... so I probably won't play with them again in the near future - only when I forget about them...
http://www.yogiemp.com/Calligraphy/Artwork/BVCG_LetteringChallenge_Dec2019/BVCG_LetteringChallengeDec2019_Week2.htmlMagic Color inks are acrylic and I tried them on Glossy cardstock with a couple sizes of "B" nib. It's a flat round shape making the start and finish of the letters rounded. I remember a class I took with Betty Locke using the "B" nib.... Was very interesting.

A Way With Words - ECD - Congratulations - Reminding One Another

http://yogiemp.com/HP_cards/MiscChallenges/MiscChallenges2015/ECD_Congratulations_RemindingOneAnother.html
Welcome to A Way With Words!  Each day during this event Quietfire Creations will be sharing projects made with the brand new Elizabeth Craft Designs  (ECD) word dies.  All these designs are from original hand lettering by Suzanne Cannon and can be found on the Quietfire Design site.

I received my sample dies recently and couldn't wait to use them BIG GRIN. Today's card uses "Congratulations" (at Elizabeth Craft Designs and at Quietfire Design)

Quite some time ago I created glue gun stencils... finally I'm using one of them again. I also recently acquired the Copic attachment for my airbrush machine and used it to color my stencil. Love the soft look.

http://yogiemp.com/HP_cards/MiscChallenges/MiscChallenges2015/ECD_Congratulations_RemindingOneAnother.htmlAnd I also decied to try something I recently saw by Jennifer McGuire, die cutting fun foam and then shrinking it with a heat gun.. The word "Congratulations" was done like that.

Anyway you can see all the details and descriptions by clicking on any card image. Enjoy.

I'm using a quote stamp from (Quietfire Design)

And fits for this challenge:

MC Jan/11 - Yellow - Words of Love

Well I think I started off the year yesterday on the right foot BIG GRIN being creative. Made 2 cards for various challenges and totally happy with both of them

This card started for my submission to Vamp Stamp News and then I got side tracked... I love the clean and simple look of it, love the yellow tones instead of all the white stuff we have here in Calgary, love the flowers poking out of the circle, makes me think spring might be around the corner and ABSOLUTELY love the quote by Quietfire Design. I think this is one of her nicest quotes (of course that's until I see the next one...), so I guess there's a lot to love for such a simple card.

Anyway, click on card to see details and descriptions etc. Enjoy.

It also fits for a few challenges:
City Crafter #37 no digi's use real stamps
Flourishes #98 Pearls
Fab n Funky #53 Quick & Easy
Drunken Stampers #48 Use something new (quite a few things, stamps & punch)
Mark's Finest Papers #36 Use something new
One Stitch at a Time #43 Anything Goes

My Copics

Hey I just picked up my Copics from the post office, came home and tried them right away. I hadn't realized I was getting different types of Copics, which is really good, because now I know what the others are like.
Well the Sketch (rectangular barrel) & Ciao (round barrel) are basically the same except for the barrel design, size and labeling. They both are refillable and have the same brush tip and chisel edge.

Now I also got these square barrel shape, no idea what they are called since there is no name on the barrel like the others. It has the same markings on the cap for easy identification, looks like it has the same chisel edge, but the brush tip is a lot stiffer and shorter.

Then I also got the Copic Wide with an extra broad thin chisel edge tip.
Not sure if both of these are refillable too, will have to look that up.

But I have to say Thanks again Brad at Pen Addict for this wonderful gift. The journal that came with it is not bad either. It's called the Sketchbook produced by Imagination International for copicmarker.com. Bleed resistant marker paper. It does go through the paper a bit, and I'm not seeing any bleeding. It feels like a coated matte finish cardstock paper.

Misc Challenge June 09

Well this is the first time I'm entering in "Another Stamp Company" sketch challenge, this one is for June/09, on Rubber Stamp Chat. I had some left over pieces of the Straw Art I've been doing and thought I'd use them for it. Click on image to see descriptions and larger images etc. Enjoy

Lots of ATCs this month

Well I continued playing with the Tim Holtz Perfect Distress technique, making ATCs and more samples for my Technique journal.
Then I made some using the Dreamweaver Spider Web brass template as a frame and paper towel backgrounds.

The
n I did some on a take from Kristy's latest background technique which is so simple but what pleasant and fun results using Ecoline inks and a straw. I went a little beyond that and used Sumi Ink as well and then coloring in with either Alcohol Ink and a mini brush filled with blender solution and a bunch made with Copic markers. Sorry this link will have to wait a few days...
OK now that Kristy's card is uploaded I can upload my take on her technique. Thanks Kritsy for the inspiration.

Click on any of the ATCs to see more of that type of card. Enjoy

My Entry Into The Big May Copic Giveaway

Well there is a blog give away at The Pen Addict of some copic markers, sketch book and the carrying case. Looks like a great prize and I would love to win it. Copics are not cheap, but definitely a fun tool to have in an artist/calligraphers tool kit. There are a bunch of rules to enter this give-away.
See the Pen Addicts Big May Copic Giveaway for the exact rules 1) need to show by means of a blog or web presence the intent to use these markers (in other words not languish in a desk drawer...) 2) Need to make a current piece of artwork using copics. Well can't get much more current than 20 minutes ago. BIG GRIN. Since I just finished the Peter Thornton classes, those designs were fresh in my mind and I tried to re-create my "D" below. Will need more practice and maybe a few more colors... HInt hint. 3) And thirdly why I want these markers. Well I really love experimenting with new tools. I am totally new to the copic marker world. But already I have experienced some ways to use them in my calligraphic endeavors. I love double loading the brush tips and using the chisel edge portion as a flat edged pen for calligraphic lettering. As I mentioned above, copics are not cheap, so my color palette at the moment is limited. Wining this giveaway, would sure help me supplement my limited supply.

All the artwork in this post was done on inexpensive glossy photo paper. Thanks for looking.
