Doodling - Funkiness Exudes

I doodled the center floral stem first and then the rest just morphed into a design... and it just looked funky... and since I was outside playing with double loading gouache on a Simply Simons #6 Chisel brush I used that for the title...

Size: 3"h" x 8"w
On Canson Mixed Media paper using various colors of Juice Up pens created the funky floral design.

wk 43 - Day Of The Dead - Heart - George Eliot

Size: 5" x 6"
On Fabriao 1264 Mixed Media paper created the heart shape to write in my Blackletter style text using a Marvy 2.0 broad edge calligraphy marker. Drew in the red line heart with a Juice U pen and then wet the inner area for a heart and sprinkled with Bister red powder, touching here and there and adding more water etc. Sprinkled with Neuberg-Ebel Sparkle Bronze 52 powder.

Scribbled Lives 2023 - Wk 36 - Brush - Every Artist

Somethings wrong with my website - sigh. I can't seem to access it... I hope it's just a weather or simple glitch that will right itself soon...

Another week of Scribbled Lives this time the challenge is using a Brush... so I pulled out a couple of my Rosemary & Co triangle brushes. 

Size: 6"w x 7"h
On Fabriano 1264 Mixed Media paper.

Sprinkled yellow and red Bister powder over paper and using a med size Rosemary & Co triangle brush dipped into water created the flowers. Dried. Removed excess powder and sprinkled with yellow and green for the leaves.

Used calligraphy brush pens (2 med sizes) to stipple the flower centers  and write the text.

I've been a follower of das.frollein.tina on Instagram for quite a while. She has such a wonderful funky-ness. I'm trying to emulate her but have a long way to go to get her flavor in my lettering...

The "Take Time" piece is what I tried to mimic when seeing it on Instagram. Nowhere close to what her's looks like. sigh!!

Pointed Brush Lettering - Exception To The Rule

I signed up for a 2 day class with Brecken Cook thru the Idaho Inkspots Calligraphy Group.

I've always struggled with brush lettering. I don't know how many brush pens I've bought over the years looking for that ONE that would make me smile...

This time I'm playing with my Koi watercolor brush pens. They're a touch too soft for me for lettering.

PS I used to be an avid Scrabble player...

Scribbled Lives 2023 - Wk 5 - Bleach - Bleach Is Wicked

I used to do a lot with bleach but haven`t played with it in several years...On Stillman & Birn Nova Tria Mixed Media 150gsm paper. It has 3 tones (light grey, beige and black). All 3 colors work beautifully with bleach... I've tried a lot of various black papers with bleach and this is my ABSOLUTE favorite. It reacts wonderfully and has such a nice tone to it.
