Drum Leaf Binding - Words To Live By

I came across this DRUM LEAF binding on Vintage Page Designs Facebook Nov 4/24 post and decided to play with it…click HERE  for the post

Cut my 5pcs of white Stonehenge paper to 5"h x 10" w and one larger one for the covers. Sprayed with various colors of Distress Spritz (Fossilized Amber, Peacock Feathers, Peeled Paint, Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Twisted Citron and Walnut Stain). Sprinkled with Coarse salt and then sprayed with water. Let it dry completely.

Fold the pages in half and  the back side of one folded piece to the back side of the next folded piece until all were attached to each other. Used binder clips to hold the pages together and applied glue to the spine - let dry. Adhered the cover to the first page creased for my spine and then adhere the rest to the back page. Adhered the belt to the front adding a piece to slip my end into for closure. Added one of my wax seals as decoration.

Die cut the large letters using Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations "Vintage Market" alphabet from pink cardstock. Rest of the text was done with a Zebra pointed pen nib in Bookhand style using Holbien Jet Black gouache.

BVCG Galleria - Mar-2024 - Archaic-Obsolete - Behold The Blackguard

Our next Guild's Galleria topic is Archaic/Obsolete words. I decided to create a sentence....
size: 9"w x 7"h
Quote written on a geli print on Columbia Mills End Paper using a pointed nib and Sumi ink in Pointed Pen Bookhand style.

Words: Behold the blackguard, the beef-witted, baseborn, was betimes sent to bedlam.
translation:
Observe, the stupid low-born scoundrel was speedily sent to the asylum.

This one done on Fabriano 1264 Mixed Media paper.... but several letters weren't very good... and I didn't like the plain background.

http://www.yogiemp.com/Calligraphy/Artwork/ScribbledLives2020/ScribbledLives_May2020.html

On the Scribbled Lives 2020 facebook group the challenge this week is to use a quote from Maya Angelou.

http://www.yogiemp.com/Calligraphy/Artwork/ScribbledLives2020/ScribbledLives_May2020.htmlI had been doing some practice calligraphy on Strathmore Charcoal paper which I didn't like so decided to see what would happen if I did... I really like the end results.
