This week's challenge is to use a "B" nib... I had to go searching in my stash since I haven't used one of them in eons and eons...

As soon as I saw the theme of this week's challenge I wanted to create something with a lot of "B's" in it... and this popped into my head...

I'm not a chocoholic but I do enjoy Ferrero Rocher... I've usually saved the wrappers to do something with them one day!!! Well this is the day...

Smoothed out the wrinkles as best as possible then adhered to regular 110# cardstock. I tried writing using my Sumi ink, but it just beaded all over the place. So pounced a bit of Sandarac and tried again. Much better. I used a 6.0 parallel pen and the Sumi ink, then a B-5 nib for the rest.

Black Gold doesn't exist except as man made but the Rocher chocolate can definitely take its place.

Jan/21 - Filigree - Love U

I recently saw an image from Benoit Furet on Instagram and wanted to do something similar... He does gorgeous filigree calligraphic work. What I saw was a graphic word and roses surrounding it. His roses were more stylized, but mine are easier to create.

Merry Christmas - Walnut Ink

I'm taking a 3 day ZOOM class with Julie Wildman "Holiday Cards". I needed some inspiration. I'm just not in to Christmas card making this year....

So today was the 2nd day and created 2 cards - this is the 2nd one Using Walnut ink, B nibs, Schminke gold powder and Dr Martin's Concentrated watercolors.

Weaving - In TheTapestry

After creating the 1st 4 Mini Books with the Phyllis Cole-Dai poetry, I had a bunch of scrap ends... Throw them away or do something with them - sigh!!

You know me... hard for me to throw something away - and here's another sigh!!

So I trimmed them down and created the weave piece. Then I looked up quotes using a weaving theme and voila. I mounted it on a deep blue/teal background. That's one of the hardest things to capture in a photo.

I pulled out some rubber leaf stamps from Rubbernecker. Sprinkled my silicon mat with Bister powders, misted with water and press the stamp into the wetness and stamped. Wrote out the quote with a "B" nib and Sumi ink. added some acrylic gold detailing.

Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk 41 - Shel Silverstein is this weeks theme... He has some fun quotes/poems. This one is kind of long for me. I usually prefer doing shorter quotes and stuff... I tried doing it with various nibs in various styles of lettering and on various hand made backgrounds. Ugh to all of them. I finally just went on plain cardstock, my small B-5 nib and Vermillion Sumi ink in my funky monoline stle lettering. I'm content... Added the spider web and spider being it's close to Halloween I thought it was appropriate. BIG GRIN.

Scribbled Lives 2020 Wk 40 - Inspiration. We were to almost copy something from our group that inspired us... There were a ton of options, but I chose something created by Gerry Heidi Stolp. What I loved about this was the colors that made me smile when I saw it as well as the graphic look to it. Right up my alley... I probably should have made my squares larger, but c'est la vie.

We were asked to design an alphabet and then write some words using it. It's a simple alphabet, but I will probably use it.

Both of these are kid of fun... I haven't been on a rollercoaster in probably over 50 years. I tried to mimic the ups and downs with the lettering. With the sunshine piece tried to mimic the sun... Since Betty Locke challenged us to use a "B" nib, they've still been laying on my desk and I'm enjoying using them. Who woulda thunk...I've never liked them before. It was interesting to use gouache and dropping in color in each letter. It doesn't move the same way watercolors move.

BVCG July Lettering Challenge - Day 13 & 14. I can't believe we're half way through July already. It's almost depressing since we usually get snow in August and that means winter will be around the corner. Sheesh - I must be a little down...

Maybe with lazy days and (good) memories I can forget winter is coming...

I remember doing something this style eons ago... and then someone from one of the Facebook groups I belong to did one and it brought back the memory... so very appropriate.
