AofF_Isosceles Triangle Book - Play Is Therapy

size closed: Triangles - 3.5" x 4"h
Our AofF for June had one thought being an Isosceles triangle project... but then they decided something else... but my head was already in the isosceles mode...

We were to take a square piece of paper and divide it in half both ways and half again and trim off the excess to create perfect isosceles triangles. I did a 2nd piece and adhered them together at their edges...

I then created another one slightly smaller from Genoa Bond paper. Then I cut smaller triangles from marbled paper I created eons ago and adhered them to the Genoa paper

The whole thing folds up into a neat triangle with a little paper band to keep it closed

Then cut out letters from misc black paper to spell out "Play Is Therapy

A of F - One Page Booklet - Crazy Is

Our AofF for May is anything using 1 piece of paper. This is the 3rd booklet I've made. I guess I'm kind of addicted...
size closed: 2"sq x .5"thk
I used my Guild's Genoa Bond paper which I completely covered with various colored linear marks and filling in the negative areas with solid color.
Folded to create 16 sections. Cut the paper thru 3 squares in the 1st & 3rd section and then from the opposite side thru the 2nd section.
Glued a very thin line wherever needed to create a page/pocket and then cut out little rectangles to easily slip in and out my white page inserts.
The only text is what's visible.
words: title - "Crazy is as crazy does" on the edge of the cover.
letters spell out MIND BOGGLING

Art Of The Fold - One Page Booklet - Think Green

size closed: 2.75"w x 2.25"h x .5"thk
Our AofF for May is anything using 1 piece of paper. I've done a few of these but this time I decided to glue some of the pages and create pockets so the booklet opens like a normal book... I love the results and decided I wanted an all GREEN theme...

I used my Guild's Genoa Bond paper, folded to create 16 sections. Cut the paper thru 1st & 3rd lines from the left edge thru 3 sections, then from the right edge thru the 2nd line thru 3 sections, and folded starting at one end till the end.

Glued a very thin line wherever needed to create a page/pocket and then punching a semi circle either at the edge or top depending on how the page was glued. I reinforced the glued edges with a very thin piece of geli print scraps.

Used various gel pens and Clean Color pens for the colored text.

Created tags to fit the pockets with the Genoa Bond paper and then adhered a piece of a dark green heavy paper. Wrote in green color names using a Gelly Roll white gel pen.

Art of the Fold - One Page Booklet - Flower Circle - Blossom

size closed: 2.5"dia

Our AofF for May is anything using 1 piece of paper. I've done them in square shape where it opens and lays flat again. But this time I decided to glue some of the pages so the booklet opens like a normal book... I love the results.

I used value pack black cardstock which is medium light weight. Folded like a normal construction (fold in half (landscape mode) and each section folded in half again and repeated in (portrait mode.) getting my 16 little squares.

Cut the 1st and 3rd score lines from one edge to the 3rd score line. Repeated from the other edge and cut the middle score up to the 3rd score lines. Then start accordion folding from one edge to the end. You should have a nice little booklet.

But you don't have a NORMAL booklet... so start gluing to make them pages...

Draw a circle that's larger than your folded booklet and cut the corners away to give the illusion of a round booklet which will keep your spines safe.

I used geli prints, pink and blue cardstock using a floral punch and adhered them to each page alternating color etc. Then cut smaller flowers and Peel Off glitter centers.

Added text to the geli print flowers in a funky hand with a gold gel pen.

words:  Blossom (on the cover) and Blooming (on the inside - 1 letter per page).

A of F - Accordion - Cut Out - Spring Has Sprung

size closed: 2.5"w x 5.5"h
size open: 12"w x 5,5"h
Our AofF for April is anything to do with Spring... That seemed like too open a theme. I have a tendency to like parameters... but I knew I wanted large letters to doodle in... and within very little time this was finished without really thinking... originally I thought I would color the florals but decided to leave it alone.

I used basic Canson Mixed Media 12 x 12 white 98# paper, pencil marked my 1.75" sections for my letters, scored and folded then drew my 1/2" border around the whole thing... Drew my letters, outlined with the bullet end of a ZIG Writer and cut around the negative areas. Drew the floral designs with the fine tip of my ZIG writer and painted the backgrounds with Holbien Peacock Blue.
Wrote in the rest of the text with the fine tip of the ZIG Writer in monoline.

words:  Spring has sprung, the grass has riz, I wonder where the daisies is.

Origami Booklet - Green Geli Print - With Buckle

size closed: 5" sq
I was in a mood to create a square booklet so pulled out my recently made geli papers. I love making these little booklets... I'm using one of my recent geli prints I made.
Was rummaging for something and came across this molded buckle type thing - I again made eons ago... so thought I'd use it on this belt.
No text in this one yet...

Funky Card - Life (Art Of The Fold)

Size: 6.5"w x 8"h
This is a weird evolved card - bottom image... it started out with the left (top to bottom) piece which was homework for our next Art Of The Fold meeting using double tab accordion. Then I played with one with single tabs (which I like better), both using my geli print paper.

I had set it aside to work on this other structure that sounded interesting... the blue square section which had interlocking and cut sections. I had adhered it to the orangey piece and then said it would make an interesting card... Then I needed something more for the inside, I used my Art Of The Fold homework pieces.

But of course it didn't stand so had to put the bottom frame on it... and a card is nothing without some calligraphy so added the quote with a black ZIG Calligraphy pen and then added the white highlight using a Gelly Roll 08 pen.

Since I had the inside done I needed something for the front... So tore apart and adhered the marbled rice paper piece from eons ago. I had adhered only the right section, but I had a leftover piece so added it to the other side of the front and wrote in the letters for LIFE with the other end on the calligraphy pen.

I don't know when I had such a convoluted way of making a card...

Pop Up Tunnel - Abstract - Just For You

size closed: 4.5"w x 6.5"h
mechanism: 3"w x 4"h (closed)
opens to 3"w x 2"h x 2.25"dp approx with 4 windows plus the door.

Mary one of our Art Of The Fold members showed us a video clip from Kit Davey with this finished structure... no details... After doing the 1st one I thought to make the mechanism  a bit wider..

A circle at the top to keeps the mechanism closed.

Basic white card base (9"w x 6.5"h) folded in half, black cardstock then a layer of a background on w/c paper I created a long time ago...

Created the mechanism basic shape from black cardstock 6.75" x 3" scored at 1/2"+ 2 1/8"+ 2"+ 2 1/8" with a 1/2" end to glue to create the box.

Cut the front window in the main structure before gluing.

For these dimensions cut 3 more widows  3"w x 2.5"h. Note: the 3.5" h section is scored 1/2" on top an bottom to glue to the mechanism after windows are cut out.. Glue to basic box. Add images either before or after gluing, I did it after...

I glued one of the images over the whole back area instead of using a window.

Glue half a circle to the card to keep the mechanism closed.

Pop Up Tunnel - BFlys - Dream On

size closed: 4.5"w x 6.5"h
mechanism: 2.5"w x 4"h (closed)
opens to 2.5"w x 2"h x 2"dp approx with 5 windows plus the door.

Mary one of our Art Of The Fold members showed us a video clip from Kit Davey with this finished structure... no details... I looked at it and said OK... Next thing I new I was creating one with my made up dimensions... as you can see it worked... so I'll show it at our next meet (Feb 2026). raided my Joanna Sheen artwork pads (I have several with different themes...) and cut and spliced.

A circle at the top to keep the mechanism closed.

Basic white card base (9"w x 6.5"h) folded in half, covered with one of my marbled papers from eons ago...

Created the mechanism basic shape 8.5" x 2.5" scored at 2", 4", 6", 8" with a 1/2" end to glue to create the box.

Cut the windows in the main structure before gluing.

For these dimensions cut 3 more widows  2"w x 3"h. Note: the 3" h section is scored 1/2" on either end to glue to the mechanism after windows are cut out.. Glue to basic box. Add images either before or after gluing, I did it after...

Glue half a circle to the card to keep the mechanism closed.

Art of the Fold - Throw Out Pages - Intuitive Reason

size closed: 6"sqx 3/4"thk
The challenge for our next Art Of The Fold Group (Feb 2026) has us making a "Throw Out Pages Card"
Card base is a basic orangey scrapbook cardstock. I used 2 sheets. The pages made from Staples white cardstock.

Decorations were cut from geli prints as well as Hand made marbled paper, punched with various sized punches both standard and scalloped. Text written with a ZIG Writer in a basic monoline style. I doodled on 4 sections, adding w/c to one series and black in doodles with graphite blending.

Book title hand drawn letters on white cardstock and then fussy cut out.

words: The square is not a subconscious form. It is the creation of intuitive reason. The face of the new art. The square is a living, regal infant. The first step in pure creation in art. Kazimir Malevich

Art Of The Fold - Rotating Spinner Card - Thinking Of You

size closed: 5"sq
The challenge for our next Art Of The Fold Group (Jan 2026) has us making a spinner cards and after making 2 of them I decided to try a rotating waterfall card...  couldn't resist trying to make this particular style. The original is 8.5"sq and not a card so set it aside to mull over and decided to make this smaller version and made it into a card. Much more useful...

Card base is basic black cardstock.

The mechanism is a circle scored to create 24 sections and a 1.25" circle in the center, then 7 sections cut away including the small center circle. Accordion folded both ways to make the mechanism very pliable. (the 1st section will be glued to the card base at the end of construction).

Adhered my 1.5" squares to each fold area, starting at the 2nd folded section.

Note: I didn't do any decorating or writing till the end so my letters were always in a readable orientation.

Drew out the letters for "thinking of you" in my funky style and painted with US ArtQuest Mica Color Metallic and Interference sets. Added a thick black shadow to each letter and a decorative doodle in each with gel pens.

Art Of The Fold - Spinner Card - From Me To You

size closed: 5.5"sq
The challenge for our next Art Of The Fold Group (Jan 2026) has us making a spinner card and this is my 2nd card...  couldn't resist trying to make one that didn't catch when opening the card and since Valentine's is around the corner... figured hearts was appropriate.
Again I used scraps for the card. Basic white card base, then I glued the red paper to the card base.
I used various punches and dies and did a bit of gold painting on the Spellbinder dies using US ArtQuest Mica Color Metallic set.
Link Spinner Card base Instr HERE
I LOVE doing "Shadow Lettering" and did that on this card using both a ZIG Writer or a Gelly Roll white gel pen.

Art Of The Fold - Spinner Card -My Wish To You

size closed: 5.5"sq
The challenge for our next Art Of The Fold Group (Jan 2026) has us making a spinner card. I like the idea of it but not so much the construction. Will have to mull it over for a while... And on my theme of trying to use things up it was made completely from scraps except the base which is basic white cardstock.

I raided my geli print scraps, mainly cut of ends from other projects... and glued them to the white cardbase. I like the results...
Die cut circles the appropriate size. Folded the mechanism and glued to the inside, then glued the circles onto it.

Raided my florals/leaves and BFly stash and adhered them making sure everything rotated properly without sticking... Added rhinestone gems to flower centers.
Used Shadow lettering style for the words.

Art Of The Fold - Pop Up Card - From Me To You

The challenge for our next Art Of The Fold Group (Dec 2025) had us making this kind of structure. A bit challenging... I would make my tabs a little shorter.

size closed: 6"w x 7.5"h
The card base was made from a slightly textured 12 x 12 paper and the rest made with various brands of cardstock, the butterflies from gelli prints made on Columbia Mills LBS End paper.

Lettering on the front was done with DecoColor Premium gold pen and then shadow outlined with a ZIG Writer.

Ovals and butterflies punched out. and the inside lettering hand cut from another geli print paper..

Art Of The Fold - Map Fold - Turkish Map Fold - Map

Size closed: 2"sq x 3/8"thk
I was in a mood to create something 3D... so started playing with map fold stuff... this evolved.

I used Canson Colorline (Nut #33) cut to 2"h by the width of the paper and scored every 2". Started folding my main booklet and then kept folding for the covers which I overlapped to give strength and to wrap around to the velcro closure on the back.

I used one of my geli prints cut to 4"sq and started folding them in the Turkish fold. Adhered them to the accordion strip. Added the title with a Uniball Signo gold gel penText on the inside done with a brown Fine Point Sharpie pen.

Art of the Fold - Hexagon Booklet - Charm

We have no theme for our next Art of the Fold meeting for Oct... so decided to make this hexagon structure I saw by Kit Davey on Facebook.

I made a prototype (the small white one below - 1.5"w x 1.5"h) just to make sure I could figure out what the end would look like...

Size closed: 4"w x 4.5"h
I used Canson Colorline (pink) which I don't like because it tears so easily... but I really want to use it all up...

Cut my paper 4.5" h x 21" (approx). Scored and folded every 2".

The under strip that the structure is glued to is 21" total length (10.75"is the narrower section for the wrap around.)

I used one of my geli prints. Found a typeface I liked and printed the quote text on copy paper in the size I wanted, cut them out, colored them black and glue to my structure.

quote: hexagons where mathematical artistry meets quirky charm.

Punched out hexagons from the geli print paper and wrote the letters for the title.

Single Paper Booklet - Sounds Of Silence

Size closed: 3"w x 4.5"h x 1/2"thk
I couldn't get this song out of my head... so decided to make a booklet of it.
I looked in my stash and found a gelli print I really liked. Love the cut off piece I used for the cover.
Used an 9" x 12" piece of med weight cardstock. Cut and folded and then inserted black photographic backdrop paper and the gelli print paper in each of the folds. Bound with black 4ply waxed line thread.
Wrote out the text with a black Juice Up pen for the lyrics (Sounds Of Silence by Paul Simon) and a black gel pen for the title words.

Exploding Hearts - Beauty Of The Heart

I made this for what I hope will be our June challenge which hasn't been decided yet...
size: 2.5"dia x 1/2" thk.
I created a template from 1/2 a heart, to get both sides the same shape and size to create my 4 heart master template (important) then cut out a bunch of them from a red toned geli print paper done on Columbia Mills End Paper.
Folded all my flower cut outs. I then added a little scrap piece to the point edges of 2 flower shapes to hold them together.
Added the text - one word on each flower.
Created circular covers from the same geli print glued to 110lb white cardstock and then to a piece of pink cardstock for added strength. Adhered a piece of ribbon to the back outside cover and added 2 punched out hearts

words: The only lasting beauty is the beauty of the heart. Rumi
