Quilled R - Create To Your Hearts Content

On Black Canson paper drew out my letters with a couple of white gel pens till I found one that was working... Doodled in each letter with a different style leaving the "R" for quilling which I haven't done in a whole bunch of years.... I really like the results. Added the rest of the text with a pointed nib and white acrylic Ceramcoat By Delta paint.

Monday Creativeness - Geli Prints

 

I was running low of my geli prints... My immediate area of my craft table was finally free... so decided to make more. I have LBS End paper which I cut in half. After about 4 hours I came away with 31 prints (12" x 14"). I printed on both sides, basically the main paint on the front and whatever was left over on the geli plate was spritzed with water and another print pulled. Love them all especially the top batch.

It was a productive day. 

 

The Moral Of The Story

I was asked to create a piece for a child that was very easy to read and had his favorite color - orange. So I did a geli print with acrylic paints on Columbia Mills End Paper. I used a Sharpie pen for the monoline lettering then added little caricature images using a Juice Up pen.

It will be laminated for easy handling.

Toilet Roll Snowflake

Used 3.5 toilet rolls... Squished the toilet roll flat and cut at 1/2" increments. Painted the large ones with silver acrylic paint, both sides. Adhered together at the center point.

Cut the next 3 strips in half at both ends, painted them gold. Adhere inside the silver loops.

Continue cutting the loops in half at both ends and painting in copper for the outside loop design.

I punched a small hole in my top loop and strung my cord adding a bead in the loop.

I've been seeing quite a bit of dot Mandela's onLine and was in a mood to play a bit. I've been very lazy this week... This design style needs a LOT OF PRACTICE...

Art Of The Fold #34 - School Book Wrapper - Bogus

I was privileged to be on our latest BVCG Journal cover #152 so photo copied it in B&W and color and created the booklet and bow.

Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk 50 Grand Finale

It's hard to believe a whole year of Scribbled Lives 2020 is over... Looking forward to 2021 starting the 1st week of January. This piece was out of my comfort zone for the background. I used a credit card to make the abstract marks and then diluted the look with a watered down wash of all the colors. I'm happy with the results.

I'm also using my Brody pen for the 1st time. VERY NICE. On par with my Dreaming Dogs ruling pens.

Last 4 mini books - Your Turn #11 - 14

 

As I've mentioned a couple times I've been in collaboration with Phyllis Cole-Dai in making mini books with her beautiful poems. I thought I was going to stop at 10 mini books, but then got a special request for 4 more...and I said yes.

I finished them this weekend and they're off to their new owner. Hope they like them. They requested a turquoise and 3 green and you know me...can't make them the same.

Mini Book - Your Turn #11 Turquoise/Copper

Mini Book - Your Turn #11 Turquoise/Copper. I was requested to make 4 more mini books... and I said YES!!

This is the first one and the customer requested Turquoise. Not easy since it's a very difficult color to match up with the other elements of the booklets. So I ended up having to paint my pages.

When I think of Turquoise, I think of Verdis-Gris and then I have to add copper. BIG GRIN. So it all worked out to my liking. Hope the customer thinks so as well.

Now to work on the other three all greens - so I'm going with various shades of green. Maybe an Olive, a dark green and ??

We were asked to create something on Paste paper which is what Rosie Kelly liked using for here books... Sorry don't have any, so wrote my quote on one of my geli print pieces I recently created for my poetry mini books...

I'm using Uncial lettering style using a parallel pen and Sumi ink. I like the way this turned out.

Mixed Media Phone Stand

I took a 2hour mini workshop at "The Paper And Ink Boutique" here in Calgary this week. Loved it. The class was taught by Tracy Moreau who is a Deco Art ambassador. 

Granted I'm not really in to mixed media, and I don't own a mobile/cell phone... but I thoroughly enjoyed this class.  When I looked at the image on the website I gathered my supplies with similar items but in my own style. BIG GRIN.

I also brought my own acrylics. But have since purchased the Deco Art Media acrylic paints which are translucent but vibrant.
