Gold Leaf Flowers - Your Future

size: 6"w x 7"h
Since I haven't gilded in years... there's a lot to be said about this piece... I'll need to practice a bit more BIG GRIN (or maybe a lot more)

On Black Field Drawing paper gilded my design using US ArtQuest Duo adhesive in a needle nose bottle. Gilded with an unknown brand of imitation gold leaf. Colored with Black Edition colored pencils. Added some pointed pen leafy images using Kuretake Gold Mica ink.
Text written in Gwen Weaver style with the Mica ink and the pointed nib.

words: The best way to predict your future is to create it. Christina L. Farley "Gilded"

Illuminated Y - You Have To Think

Today was supposed to be day 2 for our Uncial class with Barb Fuller... but we had a dump of over a foot of snow with frigid temps... and the roads needless to say were not good, so I cancelled going to class - sigh. Instead I created my version of an illuminated letter picking a "Y" for my name and than getting a quote to fit the oversize letter.
size: 8.5"w x 5.5"h
On Canson Mixed Media paper drew out the large "Y" and then the autumn leaves around it in an oval shape using a brand new Sharpie fine tip pen. Painted with watercolors and Kuretake Mica Gold ink. I doodled into the letter before painting using a small balled stylus.

I left the Madagascar style lettering plain.

words: You have to think anyway so why not think big. Donald Trump

Scribbled Lives 2024 - Wk 44 - 1 Word 5 Ways- Color

Oh this was a fun exercise Beth Lee. Thanks. Couldn't resist using the word "Color" Big Grin
Size: 7.5"sq
On Canson Mixed Media used some gouache I had laying around from a project a while back... It's extremely rare I use gouache I prefer watercolors...
1: Copic wide 1st double dipping into 2 colors. When dry outlined with a med blue Juice up pen.
2: Pointed pen, Zebra nib into Kuretake Gold Mica ink.
3: Blue Parallel pen into the darkest of the 4 colors I had mixed.
4: Zig Writer in the multi colored work in one of Violet Smythe's funky styles and painted with the gouache.
5: Pointed pen in Dot Lettering as taught by Mina Taylor and dots created with the embossing tool into the rusty orange gouache.

On Recollections black cardstock using various metallic/sparkly gel pens created the butterfly in pointillism (been a while since I've done this...). Wrote out the quote using a pointed nib and Kuretake Silver Mica ink in Blue Rider style typeface.

Celtic W - Doodled

Thought I'd do my last 3 letters on colored cardstock... And Kelly Barone challenged us while she's healing, She'd love it if we shared with her some fun things we're working on! And if we can't think of anything fun to share, maybe try out her Zentangle pattern BrrSt!

You know me can't resist a challenge...

Size: 4.5"w x 5"h
On blue Recollections 65# cardstock outline my "W" using Kuretake Silver Mica ink and a Nikko G nib. Balance of artwork with Metallic and regular Juice Up pens. Colored the centers if knot work and diamonds with Black Edition colored pencil.

On dark blue Recollections 65# cardstock, using a Nikko G nib and Kuretake Silver Mica ink created my flourished design. Colored the florals with Black Edition colored pencils and added red adhesive backed rhinestones.

Celtic - Letters B & C

Continuing with creating my Celtic alphabet for groups challenge... Here is B & C. Both done on Fabriano 1264 Mixed Media paper

"B": Size: 4"w x 5"h - Fine Tip Sharpie pen, Bister & Brusho w/c powders sprinkled onto a wet area (I did it in sections...). I used a Zig Clean Color to paint the negative areas. Added some graphite shading.

"C": Size: 4"w x 4.5"h - Fine Tip Sharpie pen, Brusho w/c powders sprinkled onto a wet area (I did it in sections...). Kuretake Silver Mica ink. I made a slight mistake so increased the thickness of some of the lines...

Scribbled Lives 2023 - Wk 40 - Inspired By - Flourish

This weeks Scribbled Lives is to create a piece inspired by one of our member's work from this year...I choose Nancy Renaghan Noble from her wk 38 post. I loved her flourish post.

Size: 8"w x 7"h
On the matte side of photographic background paper using Kuretake Gold and Silver Mica ink and a pointed nib created the flourished artwork and pointed pen lettering. Mounted onto the glossy side of the paper.
words: Water your dreams with fear, and they will wilt; with doubt, and they will wither; with hope and they will grow; with faith and they will flourish.

Art Of The Fold - Star Fold #25 - When It Is Dark

Art Of The Fold - Star Fold #25 - When It Is Dark. So May 10th meeting is to work on the Star Fold #25. Probably not one I'll do again... It's interesting but not very useful. I created several in calligraphy paper (bottom image) before making this one from a light weight cardstock which I think worked better. Holds the shape better.

Anyway click on either image for more details etc. Enjoy
