All the flower images, including the frock top, and background image are Paper Whimsy. This frock-in-a-box will soon be on it's way to my PW swap partner, Heather. I hope she likes it!

A Frock Fit For a Faerie
No, it doesn't match the faerie shoe in the previous post. That shoe is for attending a faerie ball. This frock is designed for some garden or woodland faerie fun!

A Wonderfully Whimsical Village
A few weeks ago I shared a little house I made for a swap in our
Paper Whimsy group. I now have my entire village to share with you.
From left to right: my house, Jan's (A Journey..), Kim's (Tabby's Place) and Christine's.
Even the "back doors" are sweet. I'm going to get mini hinges so I can display it standing like a village of rowhouses.
It's always such a pleasure swapping with my talented PW friends! So much so that I couldn't resist joining in on the next swap...
How much fun is this? The ideas are already swirling in my head.

Houses a la Whimsy
In our Paper Whimsy group we are making and swapping houses in various color palettes. I opted for the neutrals...
We're in groups of four and each of us chose one of four templates so the houses are different shapes. When the swap is complete we'll have a lovely little village. Of course I'll share my village with you!
The back of my houses...
I am one of the unfortunate bloggers with the inability to leave comments on others blogs. (I certainly hope this issue is resolved soon.) In the meantime, know that I'm still visiting, oohing and aahhing all the way.
Wishing you a happy and safe Memorial Day. Please take a moment or two to thank a veteran or a veteran's family.

Spring Friends Collage
I'd like to share this collaged postcard I made for Dawn in our Paper Whimsy group. The theme is Spring Friends.
This is Emma. She loves Spring. An only child, she enjoys swinging in the garden and visiting with friends, real and imaginary....

Emma's dress is embellished with antique lace and tiny beads. Images are Paper Whimsy and Land of Enchantment.

The Secret Garden, Whimsy Style
This book is such a treasure! I only wish my camera and photography skills were better. Mary Ann McKeating, Queen of the Itty Bitty Book, hosted this collaborative in our Paper Whimsy Ning Group. Using PW images we each contributed a Secret Garden themed page. Below is the result. Enjoy!

How Very Enchanting is My Room
I love swapping art, and what's not to love? You meet new people, make friends with a shared interest, have the opportunity to share your creations with others, get lots and lots of inspiration from fellow swappers, AND collect lovely pieces such as this wonderfully whimsical faerie home!

Christine Shebroe, from my Paper Whimsy Ning Group made this for me. It has such a fun feel to it. I adore the flamingo on the picket fence and the little salamander creeping about.
The exterior is equally as wonderful with the magical faerie home entrance and poem. Thank you so much Christine!

This was a fantastic swap culminating in many extremely creative assemblages. Personally, it was nice to travel a bit out of my artistic comfort zone and create my first ever assemblage piece. A great source of inspiration for many of us was the book, Mixed Media Dollhouses by Tally Oliveau and Julie Molina. Not only a visual delight; it includes clear instructions and templates, and features artwork by the talented Gale Blair (Paper Whimsy owner, aka our fearless leader/mentor) and our equally talented group member, Theresa Martin.
I highly recommend this book to anyone open to a little enchantment in their life.

Whimsy Word Journals Part II
I received my journal today from Christy, as part of the Paper Whimsy Ning Group's Whimsy Word Journal Swap. What a sweet and creative journal! The covers are made from paint color sample cards. The journal is embellished with a lovely little PW girl, buttons, a gorgeous paper flower, ribbons and a silver key charm. The binding is hand-stitched and the cover quote is "...out of the air and into a dream."
Such a wonderful conclusion to my first swap with this group.
Thank you Christy!

Never Knew How Fond I Was of Blue
My friend Tom, upon viewing some of my recent artwork, commented that blue must be my favorite color. I never thought it was. Do I even have a favorite color?
I signed up for another Paper Whimsy Ning Group swap - My Whimsical & Enchanted Room. The challenge was to take a favorite fairytale, poem or story and create a whimsical and enchanted room. Choosing the theme was easy. I knew immediately Thumbelina was the tale I wanted to depict. I shopped the Paper Whimsy store for some new digital collage sheets, hauled out the massive art supplies and proceeded to create, and re-create, and re-create. Initially, I was working in browns and oranges. Okay, but not exactly what I envisioned. Got into some pinks and purples. That wasn't working for me at all. Blue! What about blues? It made me laugh, but it was just what I was looking for.
So, yes, for now anyway, blue is my favorite color.

I DO Love Being a Part of Paper Whimsy
I thoroughly enjoy the various art exchange groups I belong to, and just this past week I joined another. Paper Whimsy has always been a favorite online source of collage sheets and other bits and baubles. The Paper Whimsy Ning Group also does not disappoint. What a warm, welcoming and highly creative group of people I've had the good fortune of getting to know. I highly recommend WhimsyLand to anyone looking for an inspirational, artistic home.
My first endeavor is the Whimsy Word Journal Swap. Each participant is to create a journal using found objects for the cover. I used bingo boards from an old Milton Bradley game. This is the journal I'll be sending to Sallie in California.
