A Weekend at the Coast

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  My family and I stayed at the beach this weekend.  It was cloudy and drizzly the whole time until the day we left the blue sky peeked out, but thats okay it gave me a reason to stay inside most of the time and relax. ;)
We took a couple walks on the beach and my daughter was lucky enough to find some beautiful green beach glass to add to her collection.  We also went to the cute little shops and as always we had to go to the candy shop.  Okay, so I have to tell you I am a total sucker (no pun intended) for candy.  The colors, the smell and the whole nostalgia of it all gets me every time.
There was also a book at the house we stayed at that had pictures of these bathing beauties from 1922.
Aren't they adorable!?
Well, back to work tomorrow!  I hope you have a nice week! ♥

♥ More Bluebird Giveaway! ♥

This sweet necklace is being added to the bluebird giveaway.  About a year or so ago I decided to try my hand at making necklaces.  So I got a glass cutter, soldering iron, soldering tape and silver solder.  It's a  fun way to use vintage images.  I'm no expert, but it's fun when I need a creative outlet :)  My friend is very sweet and sells them in her shop.
I use fabric or vintage sheet music on the backside.
Just leave a comment to enter the giveaway, easy as pie!  Thanks to all of you who have already left a sweet comment to enter.  I love to read them & it's fun getting to know you sweet ladies along the way!

Bone China Plates

I have never purchased fancy dishes before.  We have been using the same simple inexpensive white set of dinnerware for many years and I suppose it hasn't been much of a priority of mine.  After 16 years though I finally started thinking about nice dishes to use for holidays and family dinners.  A couple months ago my Mom gave me the set of silverware that my Grandma chose in the early fifties when she got married.  It's called White Orchid, it is beautiful... I was thrilled.  This is what made me start thinking about it.  I found 10 Mikasa Rosemead dinner plates on Ebay for a deal.  I had 3 pieces of this pattern already so I decided to get them.  They arrived in the mail this week.  It will be fun to use them or will I be one of those people that never uses their nice dishes for fear of breaking them...I hope not.

Oh yeah, today I found this sweet vintage basket for $1.99 at the thrift shop.  You can't beat that! ;)
I sure hope you are having a good weekend!  ♥

Friendship Motto

My Mother-in-law passed this vintage friendship motto on to me after having it for years.  She knows how much I love these kinds of treasures.   The words are always so clever and the images are full of charm.
I wanted to share it with you lovely ladies.  Thank you for stopping by and  taking the time to leave your kind words.  You make the world a happier place. ♥

A Day Of Play

My daughter woke up this beautiful sunny day and decided she wanted to make a tent in the backyard.  She asked if she could use my vintage changing screen and some sheets.  I was happy to help, not quite sure how she was going to pull it off.  My husband found a long piece of wood and we stuck in the ground for a center support pole.  I had an idea to attach a parisol to the top of center pole.  Then we began draping it with a pink chenille bedspread and lots of sheets.  We used garden stakes for the opposite side of the screen.  We secured the sheets with clothespins.  Added some lanterns to enjoy in the evening.  She added blankets to the floor and expressed to me she needed a table and a shelf.  So I delivered along with some other goodies;)
I brought a basket of what every girl needs for a play tent.
She carefully arranged all her treasures & was ready for a tea party.
Even the dog made an appearance;)
Have a wonderful week & don't forget to take time to play!

Flowers & Finds

After working for six days I finally got today off.  Still feeling a bit worn out I couldn't bring myself to do anything too labor intensive so I went to a couple thrift shops & my favorite vintage shop with my Mom.  It was a good time to chit chat with my Mom and I always feel better after talking to her.  I found this sweet white plate with pink ruffled edges for $2.99.  At Tutalu I spotted this pretty little creamer decorated with a basket of flowers.   I am enjoying them both with some flowers from my yard on my favorite dresser that I found a few years ago at a garage sale for $40.  My husband sanded it because I had plans to paint it, but when we both stepped back, we loved it just how it was.
It is my favorite place in the house to display my junk, lol!
Do you have a favorite garage sale or thrift shop find?  I would love to hear about it.
I hope you all are having a good week and taking a rest when you need it. ♥

Bake Sale

Tomorrow my work is having a bake sale in the breakroom to benefit charity.  I baked cupcakes and my daughter made cinnamon streusel muffins.  We had fun!  I made cupcake picks using the sweet image Keren created at Free Pretty Things For You .  Thanks Keren!
Pink frosting & pastel sprinkles.  My favorite!
My daughter is a huge Alice in Wonderland fan!

If I could share them with you I would.  I hope you all have a lovely week. ♥

Vintage Cuties

The sun is shining bright and it is a beautiful day.  Today was a great day for cleaning and planting flowers.  I hope it sticks around.  Recently my dear Mom has been on the look out for some vintage bluebirds for my little collection.  She found these cuties on Ebay.  I love getting packages in the mail.  They are so sweet.  I don't know if you can tell in the pictures, but they have a luster.  I love them!   Thanks for making my day Mom!
Do you have a vintage collection?  I would love to hear about it.
Have a wonderful weekend! ♥

Picket Fence Charm

I am getting super excited because my husband is almost done with our picket fence in the front yard.  He has been trying to work on it through all the rain we have been getting.  We have a 1957 ranch home that had absolutely no curb appeal when we bought it almost 5 years ago.   It is definitely a work in progress.  Slowly but surely we are adding bits of charm.  My husband painted the house a very sweet pale pink with antique white trim.  Over the past few years we have planted hydrangeas, peonies and roses.  Now the picket fence is the cherry on top.  I am so excited to plant more flowers along the backside of the fence.  Do you have any suggestions for flowers that you love and are easy to care for?
 We had a sunbreak yay!
You can actually see some blue sky!
I hope you are all having a lovely sun filled week! ♥

A Gift From The Past

Today my dear Aunt stopped by with a gift from the past.  She brought me some sweet cards that my Great Grandmother (who I never met) had saved in a scrapbook.   There are even some with bluebirds!  Much of that side of the family is gone including my Dad.  I treasure the friendship I have with my Aunt and I am honored she gave them to me.  I love vintage greeting cards, the words and images are so sweet.  These are even more special because they are from family.  I just had to share a few of my favorites with you.
