Sports Mania Blog Hop

Welcome to the Sports Mania Blog Hop. If you are coming from Jen's Scrapping at the McCalley House, then you are at the right spot. If you just happened to come across my blog and would like to start at the beginning, then head on over to Kathryn's Creations With Kathryn.

I am so excited to be here. This is my first time to participate in  a Blog Hop. I was happy to learn that it was a sports theme. My nieces are involved in cheerleading - high school and competitive, basketball, soccer, cross country, pole-vaulting, hurdles, mile relays... They keep me on the go watching their competitions. I knew I would have no trouble coming up with a project.

I made 2 different binder clip picture holders for my niece Holly.
<3 My Team!
Holly's team won the Morrison Invitational and the North Country Invitational in January. Her team had not won an invitational in like 18 years. Not only did they win one, but they won two. I decided to take their team picture and make a holder.
*<3 MY team - Sports Mania cut at 2 inches.
*Shadow is black cardstock I had on hand.
*Words are in orange cardstock.
*I mixed Triple Thick Brilliant Bursh-On Gloss Glaze and Martha Stewart Orange Sorbet glitter together to paint on the heart. I got this idea from Linda at The Paper Boutique. She has a tutorial Making Glitter Paste That Will Not Flake Off. I could not find the stuff she used, but the Triple Thick seems to work just fine for me. I purchased it at Hobby Lobby.
She Shoots She Scores!
Just last weekend Holly was fouled while shooting. She made the basket and the extra point. Holly made the first points of the game for either team!!

My mother found some 9x6 clipboards at Staples. She knew my middle two nieces (ages 10 & 5) would love the clipboards. They are always looking for something to draw on at their house. I asked if I could alter the clipboards. She was happy to oblige. She then went and bought two more so I could make one for my other two nieces (ages 16 & 2).

Basketball Clipboard
Hannah (10) also plays basketball. Her rec season just finished and she is getting ready to play on a traveling team. I made 2 of these - one for Holly and one for Hannah. (Heidi and Henley's are made out of Pink and Black Zebra Print Paper.)

First Card

Well, I made my first attempt at at a card. My niece, Hannah, has a birthday next month. She is an AWESOME soccer player. My husband is excited because he is going to help coach her traveling team. We are all surprised because he is more exciting about coaching Hannah's team then he is officiating this season.

I want to enter this card into Cooking With Cricut's Challenge #15. I didn't use the sketch because I am really don't know what I am doing. I don't have many stamps, and what I do have wouldn't work. I can't use any of the sponsors stamps - Peachy Keen Stamps - because I don't own any yet. As soon as I get a teaching position I will be getting some goodies - until then, I am hoping to win some.

Here is my first attempt at a card!

Recipe:
Sports Mania - cut at 5 inches
Paper - all scraps
Happy Birthday - rub on - learned from Linda at The Paper Boutique.
Inside - will write a note to Hannah

If anyone has any suggestions, please share.

Cooking With Cricut - Challenge 12–Glittermania!

Who would have thought that the poster I make for last Saturday's Oklahoma State University basketball game would fit into a challenge? I most definitely didn't .Every game they have a contest called "Show Me The Money". The winner wins a $100 gift-card. I really want to win. This was the first game I had been to since getting my Cricut and Gypsy. I made up my poster and wasn't even chosen to be on screen. :( Everyone around me said I should have won. Maybe I will win here!! (haha)

Here is my poster.

The ESPN is in red glitter. I ran my letters through the Xyron upside down and then added glitter. I can't for the life of me remember what cart I used for the font, but the flaming basketball if from Sports Mania and Basketball Solutions.
