Dandelion Breeze any occasion card - by Cheetarah Cheda

Hi all! I'm back this week with a card I wanted to share based on our challenge this month.

This is the mood board for our january challenge. Nice vintage looking style and colors.

And inspiration words like foliage, flowers, weeds, nature, bugs, moths, butterflies, wings, numbers, script, invoice, background stamps, vintage, tan, black, white, brown, distressed, grungy,... made me dig up some great VLVS! images to work with. A full list of stamps and other items I used are listed below.

I worked on thick vellum paper on which I used a circle stencil and light and fluffy modeling paste. Then went on to distress it with brownish Distress inks to get that vintage look going. The vellum is nice and smooth so you can get a great transition into colors. The main image I used for this card is Blowing Dandelion and Extra Seed by Susan M. Brown which I stamped twice. First with Staz-On timbre brown and then with versamark ink to emboss it in a golden honey pearl color. The timber brown stamped image gives a nice shadow effect under the embossed image. Then I used Postcards ATC size and other fun stamps for more interest. The sentiment "she flies with her own wings" is a part of this stamp by Cat Kerr which I thought would be fitting to add here. I also stamped this sentiment twice to get a shadow effect.

After I matted the card on cream paper and adhered onto a black card (which I used Miracle Tape for!)
I also embossed the dandelion and sentiment on the envelope, which is also in a honey pearl cream color.

They make a classy pair, the card and envelope and is ready to be written on and mailed out!

Birdhouse Photo Display.

Hello and welcome to another day of inspiration with VLVS! and Art Anthology!!

If you haven't, you'll definitely want to check out what's been going on this week over on the Art Anthology blog along with this weeks post here on the VLVS! blog.

Now, on with my project!

I decided to give an old birdhouse from my stash new life!  My original idea was to make a wind chime with this baby, but after covering it in a layer of clay, it was FAR to heavy to attempt hanging---so Plan B---a photo display!

Before my clay had fully set, I stamped into it with the Butterfly Gossamer/Large image.  I just cannot get enough of this stamp!  A few Idea-ology Memo Pins were just the hardware I needed to make this piece functional.

I LOVE the texture stamped clay provides!  It's subtle, but so lovely.  After my clay had fully dried, I gave the whole piece a nice coat of  Art Antology's Velvet paints in Red Velvet and Imperial.  When this paint dries, it has a nice sheen and such a lovely sparkle!

What you couldn't see from the front, were the glass stones I've embedded into the roof.  A bit of patterned paper glued onto the bottom beforehand adds a nice pop of contrasting color against the Velvet paint.  To finish off the piece, I've sprinkled a handful of vellum butterflies to give a little more dimension to my house.

And that's the project!  Thanks so much for joining me today, and don't forget to hop on over and see what the crew at Art Anthology has created.  See ya tomorrow!

Supplies used:

Velvet paint in Red Velvet and Imperial
wooden birdhouse
glass pebbles
patterned paper
vellum punched butterflies

Cotton Candy

Hey everyone I (Shanna) am SUPER excited I got some new goodies to play with and the first thing I thought of was using this fabulous stamp.

The stamp I used is called Cotton Candy - 19192. I got inspiration for the background based on fluffy cotton candy. I played with my new Prima Watercolor Pencils creating this "FLUFFY" background.

I have been wanting to use vellum on my cards for a while and I was given the tip to fold the edges over like a wrap. So I stamped the sentiment Until Further Notice - 19172 on the vellum and the scored flaps were glued behind the panel.

I used some foam dots to give a little dimension to the cotton candy and some glitter to really make the cotton candy shine.

Thanks so much for stopping by remember to keep coming back for more inspiration!

With Love.

Hello, Mary here, to share a sweetly stamped Valentine I've created for my Sweetie.

For the background, I've just inked it up with Distress Ink and water and then stamped the Medium Doily slightly off the edge to add a bit of interest.

To complete my background, I then stamped the Heart Outline nineteen times---one for each Valentine's Day we've spent together.  A quick dusting of Perfect Pearls adds a touch of sparkle without any glitter to flake off.

I then stamped Young Love and colored them up with my Copic markers.  These cuties look like the Campbell Soup kids from days gone by and SO remind me of my husband in his baby pictures!  A bit of fussy cutting and I glued the image down.

To finish off my card, I've stamped the {With Love} sentiment and stitched on a few vellum hearts to add a bit of dimension.  I love how you can still see the background and hearts through the vellum.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Now, go grab your favorite rubber and make something sweet to give this Valentine's Day!!

To The Circus.

Hello, Mary here, with a sweet and simple card today.

I absolutely fell in LOVE with this adorable Whimsical Elephant image when I saw it!  I knew instantly that I just had to color her up :-)

So, that's just what I did!

I started by stamping her onto a sheet of Neenah Solar White cardstock with Memento ink in Tuxedo Black, and proceeded to add some Copic color in a teal and red color combo.

I love how the brightness of the image just pops against the white of the paper!

To add a bit more interest to my background, I stamped the same Whimsical Elephant stamp through a circle mask!  You'd never know those polka dots came from the same stamp, eh?!!?

I decided to add only minimal color around the dots to keep them looking very much like I doodled them on.

A bit of stitched on vellum and a few sequins for sparkle, and she is complete and ready to brighten the day of someone special.

Ok guys, that's it for me!!  I hope you have a fabulously crafty day!!

xx Mary
