Brains,brains,brains - by Arwen

 Hi Lovelies 💜❤

I'm back again at the Blog with a new project.

Today, I wanna share my brainy shakercard :

Some close-ups:

And here are the single steps, how I made it:

1.) I choose black cardstock to create a folded card. Aquarellpaper for the images and of course rubberstamps.

2.) I stamped my main image onto the aquarellpaper.

3.) Stamped some brains onto a seperate piece of aquarellpaper.

4.) Cut out the inside of my jar image, as also all the brains. I kept the jar inside piece to design it.

5.) Now, every single piece is designed and waiting for the next step.

6.) I used duct tape around the image hole on the backside and stick a fitting piece of foil on it.

7.) Next step - stick some 3D pads around the hole. I used my selfmade 3D pads, so I can cut some larger rows.

8.) I filled the hole with my brains. Beware to make sure, the frontside looks down.

9.) Ok, before I stick my project onto the folded card, I framed the whole card with 3D rows at the backside.

Just stick it onto the folded card now and that's it!

All stamps, I used:

- Mason Jar

- Brains 25 Cents

- Brain

- Blood dripping

- Texture background

Other materials:

- black cardstock

- aquarellpaper (Canson)

- Staz on

- Dylusions Shimmer spray

- Distress reinker

- Distress Oxides

- thick foil

- 3D pads

I hope, you like my card :)

See ya soon

That's a horrible idea by Corrie Herriman

Hello everyone,

For today's post I have made a postcard. I love making postcards, they are small so not intimidatingly large... You can sent them to someone or you can punch holes and with some book rings make them into little books. Great as a reference when you have a little less inspiration !

I coloured a piece of white card stock (6"x 4") with Distress Oxide Sprays. After I dried it with a heattool, I put on an UmWow Studio stencil and sprayed white Dylusions Inkspray through it. I wasn't sure it would work but I think it did..  Next I stamped the background.
The lady was stamped with Memento ink and coloured with Copic Markers on a separate piece of card stock. I cut her out and adhered her to the card. I used part of a sentiment which was stamped and cut into strips. A little doodling here and there finished it off.

I used the following stamps:

Other materials:

Um Wow Studio Stencil

Distress Oxide Sprays
Fossilized Amber
Spiced Marmelade
Vintage photo

Distress Oxide Inks:
Carved Pumpkin
Vintage Photo

Memento Ink - Tuxedo Black

Copic Markers

Thank you for stopping by today !

She Leapt for Joy-Viva Las VegaStamps!

She Leapt for Joy...Ideas were Proliferating Like Rabbits

Ah! You've been there as a crafter, yes?  Days where the blank page mocks you.  Dares you to create.  And your muse is silent, offering no help.  And then suddenly, ideas begin to flow, welling up and hopping about like bunnies, out of control.  Bursts of color and energy leap onto the page, and you leap for joy.

It seemed like a good theme for an art journal page!

Supplies:
VLVS! Images Used--

Dictionary Page Item 19015 Plate 890

Wind-up Bunny Item 19218 Plate 953

Sakura of America Gellyroll- Stardust: Rose-star, Purple-star, Golden-star, Lime-star/Standard: White

Dyan Reaveley Creative Art Journal
Dylusions Ink Sprays-Cut Grass, London Blue, Pure Sunshine, Lemon Zest, Postbox Red, Dirty Martini
Montana Marker Standard tip-Shock Yellow Lt, Shock Blue
E6000 Glue
Amazing Casting Resin Spills
Amazing Clear Cast Resin
Acrylic paint-flesh tones, green, red, blue
Permanent Marker
Alumilite Dyes-Flo Red, Blue, Flo Yellow, Flo Green
UnWow Studio Mask-Light Bulb
Paper Doily
Paper Towels
Water Mister

Several months ago, I made up some backgrounds in my Dyan Reavely Art Journal using Dylusions Sprays.  For this particular spread, I sprayed Dylusions ink spray in several colors, then used the reductive method of lifting some color by placing a paper doily down, spraying liberally with water and soaking up the moisture with paper towels.  When you lift up the doily, the color is lighter where the water was soaked up.

I used the Light Bulb mask to place a light bulb on each side and colored them with the Sakura Gellyroll pens.  Then I used the Montana Markers to glaze the page, allowing the color behind to show, while unifying some of the rougher places where color had leaked through from other pages.

I stamped the Wind-up bunny images and colored their heads with white gellyroll pen.

A while back I posted about a resin spill from one of my Amazing Mold Putty design team projects. The spill was painted with Acrylic Paint, defined with permanent marker, and stamped with the Dictionary Page stamp.  She looked to me like a woman leaping, and she seemed perfect for this page

I glued her down with E6000 glue.

Now I needed something else with weight on the other side!  I took a 1x2 inch piece of Eco artboard and wrapped rubber bands around it.  I made a mold with Amazing Mold Putty and then made 5 different castings using a different color each time.  They made me think of oriental character and I think they provided a good balance down the page.

To finish, I used a permanent marker to write my saying.

Dylusional Musings : "EMBRACE Your FEAR" of Trying NEW Things...

Welcome Back to Viva Las Vegastamps! Susan back again today to share my finished journal pages.

Are You Ready for the big REVEAL???

This is where I left off on the previous post. CLICK HERE to see how I got to this point. This is just the original splats, a border with an UmWowStudio chipboard element, and some stamping... a very nice start! Now it's time to hunt for some collage matter to add from my plethora of magazine and junk mail salvage... and add some coloring and doodling by hand.

The finishing touches are my favorite part... and I just let my muse run wild.

I added some sticker letters - American Crafts and WeR Memory Keepers; some magazine clippings inked black; White Sharpie Pen; and some BoBunny rub-ons.

I totally LOVE it! I hope you do also :)

I'm Totally "DYLUSIONAL" with Art Journaling and Viva Las VegaStamps!

Welcome to Viva Las Vegastamps! Susan here today bringing you something a little "DYLUSIONAL"... and totally batty because... YES - I've finally inked up my dandelion stamp!!!

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of taking a class from Dyan Reaveley. Her bright, bold and funky art journals are completely different from my style, but I love learning from other artists. I had an AMAZING time and I'm a totally "DYLUSIONAL" now. If you are stranded over on Distress Ink Island - I dare you to take a walk on the bright and colorful side and try out the Dylusions Ink Sprays... you will be hooked!

My right hand after the 4 hour workshop... the left was equally impressive!

Dyan demonstrated her art journaling, and we learned to create beautiful blended backgrounds, stencil / stamping techniques and adding magazine cut-outs to your journal pages. Being from over the pond, Dyan is a little "CHEEKY" and quite fun. We were instructed not to bring ANY tools or supplies to the class {which I though was ODD}, so I packed a late afternoon lunch and was off on my creative road trip to West Palm Beach. We were provided with a brand-new "THE Dylusions Journal". This is a wonderful blank journal that is a combination of manila cardstock and matte white heavy cardstock, ideal for the application ink sprays and techniques using water, inks, paints and mediums. It's certainly a book that will hold up to whatever paint I can throw at it.

She had a particular "devilish way" of getting us out of our comfort zone to work freely. First she had us "ruin" our PRISTINE new books, by having us spray random colors randomly on pages, then close the book. This was repeated several times. She had the whole class, on the edge of our seats waiting for the next step - then we were ORDERED to spray the cover. I was particularly amused by how squirrely all this uncertainty was to most of the students. But not me, I was like a kid with my first set of crayons! She had a good laugh and said, "now that you've properly ruined your books, we can get to work". Random magazines were provided to select images for our art journal pages and we were instructed to pick a figure and a face and tear them out. When everyone was done, she had us pass our selections to the right... twice! WHAT??!!! So everyone got something totally RANDOM and made trying out some new techniques really FREEING and FUN. Needless to say... I totally loved this class!

Imagine that... a purple splat!

Today I am sharing a page in my journal using my interpretation of Dyan's Style - except - I'm using some of my Viva LasVegaStamps!. This background is just one of the several randomly sprayed pages I made in the class - and make a great starting point.

I traced around an ornate salvaged paper backing from some product packaging to trace around to create a border from pearlescent black paper. Using sticky notes, I used it to masked my sprays so I could stamp this swahili text in the repeatedly across the background using Pumice Stone Distress Ink.

After removing the mask, I applied 1/8" Miracle Tape to my hand-cut border and placed it in position. Then I placed my beautious Bluebell chipboard floral stem from UmWowStudio that I spritzed with black and silver metallic mists to match my shimmer paper border. I glued this in place using Diamond Glaze {my hands-down favorite adhesive}.

I stamped the border repeatedly using Lightning Black Tsukineko - Brilliance Dew Drops Pigment Ink around the pages and it gives a real, hand-drawn feel. Quick and easy.

This is how far I've gotten just with just the original splats, a border with a chipboard element, and some stamping... a very nice start! Now it's time to hunt for some collage matter to add from my plethora of magazine and junk mail salvage... and add some coloring and doodling by hand.

The finishing touches are my favorite part... and I just let my muse run wild. If you want to see the finished pages - please, please, please...

... Come back later today for the big REVEAL!!!
