August Release Project Parade: Day 3

Hello!  It's Charmaine and it's my turn to share with you my project for this month's theme, Something Old, Something New!  When I was thinking about sets to pair together (one from the current release and one older set from Verve), I came up with the older set first!  LOL  Crazy, huh?  But I HAD to use the absolute first Verve set I ever owned and it was the very first Verve set ever released, Thoughtful Florals.  (Actually, this one is a "remix" of the original set, but you get the point.)  :)  I love this set as much today as the day it was released.  I love the happy sentiments that are perfect for so many occasions.

So, I decided to pair it with Birthday Bash from this past release and create a scrapbook page.  I paper-pieced the balloons and added some Stardust Stickles to the insides of the stars.  I stamped the frame from Thoughtful Florals in four different colors that matched the patterned paper and then stamped three sentiments from that set and the last sentiment, "you amaze me" is from the Uplifting Phrases set.  I'm so glad these sets work so perfectly together!

1. Play along with us and link up your new SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW creation (posted August 25th or later) to the linky widget on the DAY 1 PARADE POST before midnight on Wednesday, September 15th. One lucky stamper will win a $30.00 gift certificate to the Verve Store.

2. For another chance to win, be sure to give the Divas a little shout-out in the comments section as we parade our SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW creations. One lucky commenter during the course of the parade will win the Verve stamp set of their choosing!

We hope you'll play along!  We LOVE to see your creations!

July Project Parade - Day 5

Hi Verve fans, it's Amy here today with Day Five of our My Hero Project Parade. I'm loving all the red, white and blue this week! And Charmaine's cutie-pie scrapbook page? So clever and adorable! I have a scrapbook page to share today, too, in some patriotic red. white, and blue attire, but first a little backstory ...

In 1941, at age 25, my paternal grandfather was a lieutenant with the Coast Artillery branch of the United States Army, stationed with his young family at Fort Kamehameha at the entrance to Pearl Harbor. On the fateful Sunday morning of December 7, he was standing in front of his bathroom mirror shaving when the Japanese attack began. "Air raid, Pearl Harbor. This is not drill." While my grandmother rushed my aunt and father (3 and 8 months old at the time) to an emergency shelter, my grandfather and his platoon set up a mobile anti-aircraft gun on a nearby tennis court. They shot down one of the first enemy planes. My heart swells with pride as I think of him and his service to our country. I'm also filled with sadness and regret that I never heard his first-hand account of his Pearl Harbor experience and that he passed away a mere two months before the 50th anniversary remembrance ceremonies.

When the Divas were given this month's Project Parade theme, I knew right away that my project would be some sort of tribute to my Grandad.

I didn't have a lot to work with, just a handful of low-resolution photo scans and some second-hand accounts. Even so, this 8x8 page will be proudly displayed in my home, not just as a reminder of my grandfather and all those who serve or have served our country, but also as a reminder to spend time with the elders among us both wisely and purposefully while we still have those opportunities.

I used two different sentiments and two of the star images in the American Hero set. The papers are from the "Old Glory" line by We R Memory Keepers and the Basic Grey Basics Manilla 6x6 pad. At the bottom right, I placed a Maya Road Kraft envelope to hold journaling and an additional photo. The Maya Road chipboard pennants are covered in designer paper, tied with twine, and adorned with accordian-fold rosettes, stamped stars, and the "u," "s," and "a" chipboard letters.

Verve Project Parade - Day Four

It's Charmaine with Day 4 of Verve's July Project Parade. . .My Hero!  Haven't the projects so far been awesome?!  I've just LOVED them!

I took a different direction with my project, and that direction came from a picture that I took.

This past weekend we had a joint birthday party for Isabelle and her cousin (my nephew) Ethan.  They were born hours apart, which was pretty funny because my sister wasn't due until the END of July!  :)  Anyway, I was taking a bunch of pictures of the birthday duo and this picture just made me smile.  With the look on Ethan's face and the way Isabelle's head is turned looking at him, all I could imagine her saying was "My Hero!"  LOL  So, that's where the inspiration came from for my project.

And as with all of our project parades, there are prizes!!!!

Encouraging Words - Day 13

Hello! It's Charmaine finishing up this month's Project Parade! Haven't all of the projects been awesome? What great projects for words of encouragement and friendship!

The project I'd like to share with you today has to do with my kids. My kids (especially the girls) have always been pretty "theatrical", or "dramatic" is maybe a better word. :) I shouldn't be surprised since their parents are always involved in some kind of show. . . and the kids have attended MANY a rehearsal with us! Even though I always had hopes that my kids would be involved in theater and music as much as my husband and I, I never wanted to "force" anything on them that they didn't enjoy. Whatever it is that they enjoy, I try to encourage as much as possible. So, when Savannah and Arwen set up a "show" in the back yard with their stuffed animals, I had to capture that moment in the hope of encouraging their theatrical abilities! I used the Starstruck set to add stars all over the side panel, and to stamp the most fitting sentiment "Headed for Stardom".

So, now it's your turn! We'd love for you to play along with us and show us your card or project focused on encouraging words or friendship. Verve stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em, why not use 'em? ;) And, as with all of our project parades, we've got prizes! To enter, just link up your creation focused on encouraging words or friendship to the Mr. Linky widget on the DAY 1 POST before midnight MST on Sunday, October 18. One lucky stamper will win a $35 gift certificate to the Verve Store. For another chance to win, be sure to give the Divas a little shout out in the comments as they parade their fabulous creations inspired by this month's theme. One lucky commenter during the course of the parade (Oct 5 - 17) will win their choice of any Verve set. Can't wait to see your lovely projects!!!

Encouraging Words: Day 7

Hi Everyone, it's Sankari here - with Day 7 of the project parade - where the challenge is create a project with Encouraging Words. Each of the projects have been so wonderful and the sets that Julee creates really makes it so easy to share a part of our heart with those around us. As soon as I saw "encouraging words", I knew I wanted to make something for my little man - he started school this year - and I wanted him to always remember that he is our shining star.
I love that these sentiments are perfect for some scrappin' as well as cardmaking :)
I made him a 12x12 layout on an Acrylic cutout that can be hung from his room. The sentiment on the top reads: "Let Your Light Shine" and then on the bottom of the photos the sentiment reads: "You're A Star, Yes That's What You Are". I hung this Acrylic layout in his room - so that he always knows that he is a shining star :) Here is a close up of the sentiment: "Let Your Light Shine". After I added the Acrylic Mat on top of the layout, I added some bling over the acrylic mat board.

Here is another close up shot of the the sentiment lining the bottom -
"You're a Star, Yes That's What You Are."

I think the best part of creating this layout was showing it to our son after I was done - his face totally lit up and he picked out where in his room he wanted to hang it - so sweet! Now, I have to make one for our little daughter - who is wondering where her layout is :)

So, now it's your turn! We'd love for you to play along with us and show us your card or project focused on encouraging words or friendship. Verve stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em, why not show 'em a little love? ;) And, as with all of our project parades, we've got prizes!
