Welcome to November's Diva Dare!  Stacey here, bringing you another day of Vellum Visions inspiration for this month's challenge!  Soft and classy...vellum always makes a big impression!  So, this month we are daring you to add some vellum to your card or project.

Vellum!  What can I say?!  I LOVE vellum...it makes me happy!  It's so soft and subtle, yet adds such a fabulous texture and elegance to cards that is perfect for all occasions.  As I was flipping through my beloved Verve stamp sets, this one.. Shining Star, really caught my eye!  I paired the faithful sentiment from it with the Sweet Scallop Die and Starry Die.  Vellum stars...yes!  I embellished the soft stars with some sparkly sequins and a fun bow from the Pastel Polka Ribbon Collection.

A Man's World - June Diva Dare

Welcome to June's Diva Dare!  As the weather heats up, dads and grads and outdoor fun are foremost in our minds, so our June Dare is entitled A Man's World.

This month we're daring you to create a stamped card or project with a masculine theme.  It doesn't have to be a Father's Day card, just something masculine. However, if you need to get one done, we're here to help wink, wink. If just reading the theme gives you a creative block, take a deep breath and think clean lines, few embellishments, rugged or distressed edges and muted or earthy colors. Replace bling with wood or metal embellishments, and replace ribbon with twine, rope or twill and you'll be surprised how quickly a masculine card will come together!

It's getting close to that special man holiday and I'm here to share the one made for my man on his special day.

I made this card with the new Wonderful Marvelous Set for it's "trees" (a.k.a flags that are the genius idea of Julee from this card) and custom made sentiment. I love that you can put together a sentiment from all the different stamps in this set. The stars theme around this card come from Starry Die and Scalloped Trim Trio Die Set. I've used the latest Viva La Verve sketch by Julee.

June 2014 Diva Dare-Day 3

A Man's World - June Diva Dare

Welcome to June's Diva Dare!  It's Charmaine here with Day 3 of our June Dare, which is entitled A Man's World.  This month we're daring you to create a stamped card or project with a masculine theme.

Masculine cards don't always come easy to me since I love pretty ribbon and bling.  It's easier for me to create a masculine card with no embellishments because then I'm not tempted with those girly embellishments!  ;)  For my card I used the  Wonderful Marvelous set along with papers from the Down By the Shore Collection from Fancy Pants Designs.

I used a polka dot embossing folder to counter the stripes in the paper.  I also used a few Verve dies for my card:  Starry Die,  the Flag It Die Set and the Award Banner Trim Die.  Instead of ribbon, I used some hemp cording to make it a little more manly!  :)

June 2014 Diva Dare ~ Day 1

A Man's World - June Diva Dare

Welcome to June's Diva Dare!  As the weather heats up, dads and grads and outdoor fun are foremost in our minds, so our June Dare is entitled A Man's World.    

This month we're daring you to create a stamped card or project with a masculine theme.  It doesn't have to be a Father's Day card, just something masculine. I paired the newly released Wonderful Marvelous  with some striped paper that had masculine colours, and then added a scatter of stars using the Starry Die.  The banner was fussy cut and paper pieced as were the flags.  A touch of silver twine, a button and some black half pearls added some dimension.  Didn't realize how carried away I got making this card, so checked with hubby and he said it was okay for a masculine card.  Phew!  Squeaked by on this one {grin}.  Mind you, he is married to a card maker and use to my version of masculine creations!

April 2014 Diva Dare - Day 12

Hi Verve fans!  It's Julee here, popping in to wrap up this month's Little Things Diva Dare.  The deadline for your challenge entries and comments is 8pm on Wednesday, April 23.  I've added the linky widget to the bottom of this post, so it's easy to find!

For my card, I pulled out the Birthday Bots set and got to work making a card for a friend who is expecting a little girl.  The bot is stamped onto a pre-made tag shape, then I paper pieced the jumper and colored the hat with copics and added some dots around the tag to set it off.  The sentiment is colored with Copics and then coated with glossy glaze.  I did the same to some star die cuts from the Starry Die, sprinkling a little glitter on them for a some shine.  A stick pin and some ribbon from the Truly Madly Deeply Ribbon Collection accent things and I embossed the pretty in pink layer with my favorite Stars & Swirls embossing folder.

"Little Things" - April Diva Dare

Hi and welcome to April's Diva Dare, it is Teresa bringing you my take on this month's "Little Things" dare!  In honor of Spring's arrival (in some parts of North America anyway!), this month's Dare is entitled "Little Things". What we're daring you to do this month is to create a baby or kids themed card. 

I have used the awesome Verve Stamp set called Shining Star, I adore the paired sentiments together; it makes a sweet baby card or even an encouraging young persons card. I have used A Cut Above Starry Die by Verve for the stars, luv this die. I used today's Mojo Monday sketch, it is contest week there so be sure to play along. There are always lots of chances at winning Verve Stamps, I cannot wait to see what you create! I had a blast with this month's dare, I hope I have inspired you...sparkle & shine!

March 2014 Diva Dare - Day 8

"Do The Polka", March Diva Dare

Hello Verve Fans!! Christyne here bringing you some inspiration for Day 8 of the March challenge, "Do The Polka".  

 
What we're daring you to do this month is to use polka dots somewhere on your card. Whether you choose to strut your polka dot stamps, paper, ribbon or all of the above, we want to see you do the polka! 

 To answer this month's dare, I went a little polka-wild.  I found a bunch of polka dot papers and paired them with Verve's new Better Together stamp sent since it has that awesome dot background stamp and chevron accents.  I combined all of my dots with this week's Mojo Monday sketch (#337), using the Banner Bundle die set to cut out the main panel.  I accented this panel with some DP stars cut with the Starry Die.  Because all of these polka dots just weren't enough for this card, I added a big pop of ribbon from the Red, White, and Beautiful Ribbon Collection.  There you have it...polka-crazy!!

June Diva Dare - Day 11

Hi Verve fans!  It's Julee here, wrapping up the final day of our Puddles of Color June Diva Dare with a little mixed-media goodness.

My card features a sentiment from the Let it Be set, paired with our Starry Die   It' no secret that I'm particularly fond of Soft Sky, so I just had to bring it out, intending an orange and aqua combo.  I cut the Starry Die out of a scrap of crumb cake paper, then used the negative as a stencil to pounce some Surf colored paint on the Soft Sky background.  Then I used the left over paint on my stippling brush to swipe some strokes on the background and also onto a piece of white corrugated card stock.  Next I outlined the crumb cake stars that had been cut out already with a white Pitt pen, then colored with prisma color pencils and lightly swiped the edges with the Surf paint.  In the meantime, my stenciling piece had dried and I loved the look of it, so I decided to make it the focal point and emboss the Matthew 5:16 verse in white on my DIY stencil.  I added a bit of a Scalloped Trim Trio die cut below the crumb cake piece, then added white gesso to both the crumb cake piece and soft sky piece, distressing the edges and adding a bit of crimping just to one corner of the soft sky panel.  I accented with some pearl stars from my stash and then adhered to a crumb cake card base.

This month's dare pays tribute to Diva Jen (Deconstructing Jen) who is an amazing colorist and Diva Janelle (Rain Puddles Design) who often uses paint on her cards and is a wonderful mixed media artist.  So what we're daring you to create this month is a card using coloring and/or painting.  If you want to kick the dare up a notch, you can add kraft card stock to the mix (Jen's specialty) and/or make a mixed media card (Janelle's specialty).

Deadline to link your cards is 5PM Mountain on Thursday, June 27.  Entries must be new (posted 6/11 or later), include at least one Verve product, include some type of coloring/painting (with an option of adding kraft cardstock or mixed media, but this is not required) and be linked up to the linky widget below by 5pm Mountain on 6/27/13.

May Diva Dare - Day 11

Wow, what a wonderful Diva sample for this month's dare! I really didn't realize the day in which I picked to share my dare until just a week ago. It's a federal holiday in the USA, to take a moment and honor those who have given their service to our country.  So before I share my project here are the dare details.

Stars & Stripes May Diva Dare
This month's dare pays tribute to Diva Amber's (Stamping Scrapbooker) military service and Diva Laurie Willison's (Soapbox Creations) wonderful use of stripes on her cards.  So we're daring you to create a card using stars and/or stripes.  While the title may conjure up visions of red, white and blue any stars and stripes will do! If you're feeling pretty in pink, go for it! Just remember to use at least one Verve product on your creation!  If you want to get really daring, you can add the extra challenge of making it a CAS card with stars and/or stripes, as that is Diva Laurie's signature style.  However, that is not a requirement, just an optional twist to the Dare if you're feeling daring!

It seems fitting to go with a red, white and blue theme on my card today. I'd feel rather silly if I didn't post something for the US Memorial Day holiday and our Diva Amber is an amazing lady who gave to the service of her country. Thank you to all you have served and are still serving!

My first card focuses on something I see every time I look at one of her cards. Amber has the best ability to cluster her focal points and keep them so sweet and clean, love that about her style. I'll give you the enabler list of the Verve goodies and give you the option to check out my blog post for some assembly details. Here's the goodies list: Let It Be Stamp Set, Banner Bundle Die Set, Scalloped Trim Trio Die Set, and the Starry Die. On to my second card.

I wanted to make a Laurie style CAS card too and lucky me I had too much paint leftover from the first card so I used it on a banner shape card base. The sentiment is from Let It Be and framed with a little bit of texture made with the bubble wrap and corrugate board that still had paint on them.

This was an extremely fun dare to be challenged with and I can't wait to see even more projects in the dare gallery.

Hi everyone!  Maureen here winding up the week with Day 10 of  this month's Diva Dare.

Stars & Stripes May Diva Dare

I had plenty of inspiration this month...not only with our talented Divas we are highlighting, but with my son's graduation from Engineering next week :)  His university colours are gold and navy (my alma mater!) so that took care of the colour scheme.  Then came some stripes from Strong Anchor and a whole bunch of sparkling stars from the Starry Die and glitter cardstock.  I couldn't resist adding a little extra note from Small Phrases to let Jake know I am extra proud of him.  But the part I love best is the centre piece, Happy Graduation.  I was so excited that it was part of the latest Release...perfect timing for me! Then last, but not least,  I added some fun golden flag ends from the Flag It die set.
