National Coffee Day Terrific Trios Wrap Up

Okay, now on with the Diva Dare.  This month is all about threes, so the dare is to add three of something to your card or project.  My card has a lot of trios on it, so let's get started.  

Trios of coffee cups (from the One Cup set) stacked three high, three banners each stamped with the word coffee (from the Coffee set), a three lined sentiment (coffee... is always... a good idea).  Three strands of linen thread tied around the card in a bow.  I also stamped the word coffee on this card a total of 12 times for four more trios!

I started by stamping the trio of cups from One Cup three times (masking off the top cup to stamp each successive trio) on crumb cake, then coloring with prismacolor pencils.  Next I stamped the hand-lettered coffee stamp and the always a good idea stamp from the Coffee set to the left of my stamped cups.  I used the other coffee sentiments in the Coffee set to stamp on the three banners, then added some coloring to the hand-lettered coffees and some sponging all around.  I finished with a bit of mossy meadow cardstock up top and some white linen thread tied in a bow.  My layout is this week's tall & skinny Mojo 365 sketch.

September 2014 Diva Dare ~ Day 12

Hello there! Hope your weekend is amazing so far, I know mine is! It's been about 70 degrees and sunny, so amazing! I'm here today with Day 12 of this month's Diva Dare.  This month is all about threes!  Back to school time usually means life is a 3 ring circus, so this month we're daring you to add 3 of something to your card or project. 

I pulled out the Small Packages stamp set for my card and made 3 big ole beautiful cupcakes! First, I pulled out my Tombow markers and swiped some green, pink, and blue ink on watercolor paper. Then I blended the colors out with a wet paintbrush. I heat embossed the three large cupcakes in black on watercolor paper and then colored them with the watercolor markers. The sentiment is from Moments Remembered.

Hi Verve fans!  Laurie here bringing you day 11 of the September Diva Dare!  This month is all about threes!  Back to school time usually means life is a 3 ring circus, so this month we're daring you to add 3 of something to your card or project. 

To answer the Dare, I cut out three coffee word die cuts (using the Verve Coffee Word Die).  I so adore the beautiful scripty font!  I also stamped one of the coordinating sentiments from the Coffee set.  For my embellishment/ribbon treatment, I started by layering on a burlap heart (cut using the Jotted Heart Die).

September 2014 Diva Dare ~ Day 10

Terrific Trios - September Diva Dare

Hi Verve fans and welcome to September's Diva Dare!  It's Andrea here with you bringing this month's dare which is entitled Terrific Trios.  Back to school time usually means life is a 3 ring circus, so this month we're daring you to add 3 of something to your card or project. 

I started off by cutting out the focal frame with Verve's Rounded Scallop Frame. I took the outside scalloped edge, distressed the edge with ink and then sprayed it with Elmer's glue. I then sprinkled some coarse glitter over it. The sentiment is from Wonderful Marvelous and for that frame I inked the edges and then added some White Opal liquid pearls. Turns out that the liquid pearls interacted with the ink and they turned green! Ugh! In a fit of mild anger, I scraped off the dots with my finger nail. It actually adds to the distressed look so we'll chalk that up to a happy mistake. :) The floral accent consists of silk ribbon with paper flowers attached. I added some pulled apart gauze to the base of the card and then added strips of paper.

Okay, that blurry photograph has been fixed!  I whipped this card up over a crafty weekend with friends and even borrowed Peaceful Medallions and Better Together stamp sets from my my Verve-loving friend, Lynn Mangan that brought some of her Verve stash along!  Oh, and just wait until you see her shoebox swap card that we made with LOTS of VERVE-goodness!  BEAUTIFUL!

September 2014 Diva Dare Day 8

Good morning! It's Janelle with Day 8 of our Diva Dare for Terrific Trios!

We are challenging you to add 3 of something to your card or project. 

Today's card was started in a very different direction and then I met with some old strathmore paper in my pile and everything went from busy to simple. My card has a set of three flowers from the Happy Place stamp set, but you'll notice the set only has two flowers, so I stamped twice and cut one of them out with the coordinating Happy Doodles dies and the other by hand. I used acrylic paint to color in the flowers and leaves. 

The sentiment is stamped on watercolor paper made from taking the Faux Marble challenged over on Splitcoststampers in the Mix-Ability forum. I used acrylic paints instead of watercolors,  I added the Pennant Trim Die and randomly spread some acrylic paint across it. The gorgeous Cherry ribbon is from the Truly Madly Deeply Ribbon Collection.

September 2014 Diva Dare Day 7

It's Charmaine with Day 7 of the September Diva Dare! It's Terrific Trios and that means we have to use 3 of something on our card!
 

For my card, I used the More Than Love set.   I decided to use a trio of hearts on my card.  I stamped the large heart from the set in red an turquoise and then cut out the turquoise small heart.  The third heart was stamped in Wild Wasabi. 

The sentiment was stamped and embossed in white on black cardstock.  The black piece was die cut using the Classy Label Die.  For a finished touch, I ran my ScorBug down the cardstock for an embossed, dotted line to add a little interest.

September 2014 Diva Dare Day 6

Jen here with Day 6 of the September Diva Dare! It's Terrific Trios this time so we have to use 3 of something on our card.

Here's my card:

 

I used Better Together and Framed Lilies for my card.  The background was made by stamping the background from Better Together on white cardstock and then heat embossing it with white embossing powder. I then sponged over that with Pickled Raspberry, Broken China and Peeled Paint Distress Ink. After I sponged everything on I got my fingers wet and flicked water on the paper to make the water spots. I embossed the strip of vellum with Seeing Spots Cuttlebug embossing folder and then added a bit of ribbon from the Polka Dot Basics Ribbon Collection. I finished the ribbon off with a bit of baker's twine and added three rhinestones to the heart.

My trio of items could be a number of things, lol. I have three rhinestones as well as three types of polka dots.

Terrific Trios - September Diva Dare

Greetings Verve fans!  Maureen here bringing you Day 5 of this month's Terrific Trio Diva Dare.  You need to use three of something on your creation.

 

 

 

 I'm a little smitten with those sweet bluebells from Framed Florals.  I just love the two step stamping and that there is a matching Bluebells Die.  I went for some bold complementary colours and layered my tag with the help of the Tagged Rectangle Die.  Some beautiful ribbon from the Signature Ribbon Collection  and a few sequins from the Shine Bright Sequin Mix make this card ready for any happy occasion. I've used the new Viva La Verve sketch and a bit of artistic license to create 3 bunches of flowers for the Diva Challenge :)

To keep things in line with the 3-ring circus spirit, I began my card with this visual in mind.  By the time I was done, I had put 5 or maybe even 6, depending on how literal you are, trio elements on my card.  Can you find them all?  For the theme of my card, I reached for the new Cupcakes set since the cupcake images are so cute and I haven't had the chance to show off this fabulous sentiment yet.  I hope you enjoyed my take on this month's dare and I can't wait to see how everyone else interprets this terrific theme!

I used the Verve Teachers Count stamp set for the card and paired it up with some pretty patterned paper. Colored the apple with some copics and finished with a great sentiment from the set.

I have 2 Terrific Trios on my card today - the 3 little hearts below the sentiment and 3 loops in my bow.
