Winter Release Project Parade ~ Day 7

Happy Black Friday!  Hopefully you had a wonderful Thanksgiving that was stuffed with family and fun!  If you're shopping today, don't forget to stop by the Verve store to see the great sale that Julee has set up for all Verve fans!  It's a trio of savings!

During the holiday season, I like to give out little somethings from my kitchen to friends and neighbors. This year I made homemade caramel dipping sauce...DELISH!  Of course, I couldn't just give them a jar of caramel sauce, I had to give them a PRETTY jar of caramel sauce!  Here are the 3 jars decorated up in the spirit of the Thanksgiving season.  You could switch up the color scheme and add more "Christmas-y" sentiments to make these as Christmas gifties.  Details follow the below the pics.

JAR ONE...

JAR TWO...

 JAR THREE...

Recipe for Caramel Sauce posted HERE.

For the first jar, I created a simple rosette that is topped with a Prima flower, buttons and a sentiment from the MERRY WISHES set.

The second jar features a sentiment from the GLAD TIDINGS set and the cutie patootie mittens are from the WINTER MITTENS sets.  I love that there are little additions, like the heart that you can adorn the mittens with!

The third jar uses a sentiment from the GLAD TIDINGS set paired with both the SWEET SCALLOP TAG stamp and die.
I'm looking forward to making a bunch more of these for Christmas.  Hopefully I will find the time to decorate some bags and make cards to coordinate with the jars...a new trio, if you will!

August Release Project Parade: Day One

Greetings Verve Fans!  It's time for some more inspiration using your Verve stamps with this month's Project Parade...

The theme for this Project Parade is "Something Old, Something New."  You might be thinking "wedding," but it's actually something just a little different.  We have challenged ourselves and YOU to use a previously released Verve set with one of the sets that was released on August 20th.  If you don't have both a new and an older Verve set, don't worry.  Just mix an older set from your stash with a new-to-you set and join the fun!  We'd love for everyone to play along!

My friend, Susan, created a super fun card with a spinning monkey a little while back and I just got an order for a girl's birthday card using a monkey.  I called Susan up and asked if she minded if I copied her for the Project Parade, since a certain 7.5 month old has been beating the creativity out of me (yep, I said that out loud!).  This is what I came up...

Detail shot of a wild birthday monkey...

The new set that I used is BIRTHDAY BASH and the previously released set, LOVE MONKEY.  Both are playful and fun and the images work well together.  I stamped the balloons slightly off the page.  We'll say that was completely on purpose and wasn't an accident that worked in my favor...that's my story and I'm sticking to it!  Both the monkey and the balloons look great paper pieced.  I thought it would be a little much if I did both, so I just stuck with the balloons.  All in all, it's a fun and simple card that I hope will be the perfect one for the little girl it's made for.

1. Play along with us and link up your new SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW creation (posted August 25th or later) to the linky widget on TODAY'S (Day 1) parade post before midnight on Wednesday, September 15th. One lucky stamper will win a $30.00 gift certificate to the Verve Store.

2. For another chance to win, be sure to give the Divas a little shout-out in the comments section as we parade our SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW creations. One lucky commenter during the course of the parade will win the Verve stamp set of their choosing!

May Project Parade ~ Day One

I don't know about you, but I can't believe it's May already!  School is coming to a close and my FAVORITE season is just about here. . .Summer!  For this month's Project Parade, the Verve Divas are going to cook up some. . . SIZZLIN' SUMMER FUN

I'm kicking it off today with an idea I had for a kid's pool party or beach bash favor!  When I was thinking about Summer and what my kids love, one of the first things that came to mind was Capri Sun.  My kids would drink Capri Sun all day everyday if I let them!  I recently got this Pucker Up template from My Time Made Easy and I thought it looked like a Capri Sun, so I thought I'd fill it with some Starburst, Kool-aid, swim googles, chapstick and even a fun, crazy straw for a party favor!

I used the Relax and Happy Days sets from the latest release to mimic the look of a Capri Sun.  I sponged some color on the panel and then stamped the palm tree.  I added some Dew Drops for coconuts and tore some Kraft cardstock for the sand.  The sun and surf boards were stamped on pieces of scrap cardstock, cut out and attached to the favor.  I punched a hole in the top of the box to add the crazy straw.

So, now it's your turn!!  As with all of our Project Parades, we’ve got prizes! There are two ways to win:

1. Play along with us and link up your new Sizzlin’ Summer Fun creation (posted May 17 or later) to the linky widget on TODAY'S (Day 1) parade post before midnight on June 7th. One lucky stamper will win a $30.00 gift certificate to the Verve Store. Verve Stamps are not required, but we LOVE to see ‘em!

2. For another chance to win, be sure to give the Divas a little shout-out in the comments section as we parade our Sizzlin’ Summer Fun creations. One lucky commenter during the course of the parade (May 17 ~ June 4) will win the Verve stamp set of their choosing!

We can't wait to see your Sizzlin' Summer creations!!

March Project Parade - Day 13

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  It's Mercy here, and I am rounding out the 13th and final day of the March 2010 Project Parade!  I have been creating cards that are more along the clean-and-simple side lately, so I wanted to continue the trend today.
I needed a card for a sweet friend of mine who has always brought a smile to my face and sunshine into my heart, so I immediately reached for the "Let It Shine" stamp set.  I love this set because not only are there several images to use to create a sun, but there are also just as many images one can use to create cool flowers.  These images were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto White Cardstock, then colored with Copic Sketch Markers.  I created the sun by layering the three similar images in the set, then used the smallest of the three as flowers.  I stamped the sentiment "little miss sunshine" in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto a piece of Pumpkin Cardstock, then punch the upper edge with a Spiral Punch.  I added a border punch, and created grass by simply cutting the Wasabi Cardstock with scissors.  The stems on the flowers were stitched using my Janome Sewing Machine, and all four corners of the Kraft Cardstock panel were pierced with a Mat Pack and Paper Piercer.  I also kept the embellishments simple by punching a hole through the creating a slit in the upper right corner, running a piece of Pumpkin Striped Ribbon through it, then tied it off with a piece of Linen Thread.

That's it for me!  Be sure to read the rules below for a chance to win some amazing goodies!  Until later......

{{{Hugs}}}
Mercy

Project Parade - Day 12

Good morning!  Laurie here, and I am bringing you Day 12 of the Project Parade!  When I first heard the theme was "Fun with Flowers", I had an idea of making a Wildflower Seed packet holder.  Well, when I checked to see what the Divas have been creating (I'm out of town and feel a little out of the "loop"), not only was I blown away with their creativity but saw that fellow Diva Amy was thinking along the same lines!  WOOHOOO!!  I have long been wanting to be on the same creative "wave-length" as her, so this was a wonderful surprise for me!!

I used the Feel the Sun paired with some K & Co. patterned paper to decorate the front of my seed packet holder.  The wildflower quote that Julee included in the set, couldn't be more perfect for my project!!  :-)

After coloring the flower (hands down my favorite flower Julee has designed!!) with Copics, I layered it to give some added depth.  After adding a tad bit of Stickles to the center, I adhered a button with twine to the center!
The inside is where I have the seed packet.  I created a little "pocket" out of Kraft cardstock and punched a decorative border to pretty it up a bit.  :-)  To cover up the staples I used on the sides of the pocket, I added some coordinating patterned paper.

Well, that's all from me this time, but make sure to read on below to find out how you can WIN some wonderful Verve goodies!!  Hugs, Laurie

As with all of our Project Parades, we've got prizes! There are two ways to win:

1. Link up your new Fun With Flowers creation (posted March 22nd or later) to the Mr. Linky widget on Jen's post before Midnight on April 8th. One lucky stamper will win a $25.00 gift certificate to the Verve Store.

2. Be sure to leave the Divas a little shout-out in the comments section as we parade our creations using this month's theme. One lucky commenter during the course of the parade (March 22 ~ April 7) will win his/her choice of any Verve stamp set!

Project Parade: Final Day

It's the last day of this month's Project Parade: Tags, Tins and Treats. Hopefully you are loving what all of the Verve Divas have come up with this month. I know that I have been in awe of many of the jaw-dropping projects! As for me, I have created a mini clear paint can that features a stamped embellishment with a small tag coming off of it...

This paint can uses stamps from the new Heart's Desire set on both the flower, tag and ribbon embellishment on the handle. I created a band around the bottom of the can by punching a strip of red cardstock with my border punch and then adhering pearl baubles to the insides of the punched eyelets. I thought that it looked a little "blah," so I cut a very thin strip of pink cardstock and wrapped in around the bottom of the red cardstock band.

You can easily create and customize your own embellishments with small images like I did with this flower and heart image stamp. I cut 3 flowers using my Slice machine, but these can even be cut by hand. I then stamped the heart image multiple times and then sponged the edges. I adhered them together using dimensional glue dots and topped them off with a flag ended tag and heart images with a button.

Now for the important part: We want you to play along with us! Are you ready to show your Tags, Tins & Treats projects? I hope so! Verve stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em why not show 'em some love?

As with all of our Project Parades, we've got prizes! There are two ways to win:
1. Link up your new creation (posted January 25th or later) to the Mr. Linky widget on the Day 1 post before Midnight on Monday February 15th. One lucky stamper will win a $25.00 gift certificate to the Verve Store.
2. Be sure to leave the Diva's a little shout out in the comments as we parade our creations inspired by this month's theme. One lucky commenter during the course of the parade (Jan 25 - Feb 15) will win his/her choice of any Verve stamp set!

Tags, Tins, & Treats - Day 6

Hi Verve fans, it's Laurie and I'm here to share my take on this month's Project Parade - Tags, Tins, & Treats!

This is probably my favorite Project Parade yet! I LOVE tags, I love tins, and who doesn't love treats!! :-) Not only that, but I L*O*V*E this month's stamps!

So, in keeping with the "things I love" theme...I added buttons, lace trim, ribbon, and even more buttons!
I started with a plain galvanized bucket (you know the kind...the ones you can get for under a $1 at craft and variety stores). I wanted to soften it a bit, so I created an ivory wash (mixed some ivory acrylic paint with some water) and painted it on using a foam brush. I purposely left the brush marks as I was going for a shabby/vintage look. I then stamped the flowers (from the Love's Flower set) using some pink and cream Versamagic (these are chalk inks) Dew Drops.

For my tag, I used my Heart Nestabilities to create the heart shape. The Flower (from the Love's Flower set) is paper pieced using some pretty K & Co patterned paper.
The "Beautiful You" sentiment and pretty flourish is from the Celebrating You set.

Now, for one of the most important parts...the treats! :-) I filled my bucket with Valentine's Candy Corn and tied up the bag using a Raspberry Ghiradelli Chocolate! YUMMMM!

Encouraging Words - Day 11

Good morning! It's Laurie here, and it's my turn to share my creation for this month's Project Parade - Encouraging Words! I have to say, this is probably one of my favorite themes so far! Whether you have one Verve set or one hundred, then you already have beautifully scripted encouraging sentiments! Julee's sets are full of them!

I chose to create a little wall hanging using the sentiment from the Swan Song set. It's such a beautiful quote...definitely among my favorites! It's such a beautiful reminder...one that is deserving to be seen daily!

I used several chipboard pieces in my creation (a large one for the base, a branch, and the bird) which help to add sturdiness (and make for quick assembly :-). I love the look of patterned paper, but sometimes the pattern will overpower a verse if stamped directly on it. I decided to soften the pattern by embossing the sentiment on vellum and then adhering it to the patterned paper by stitching around the edge.

So, now it's your turn! We'd love for you to play along with us and show us your card or project focused on encouraging words or friendship. Verve stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em, why not show 'em a little love? ;) And, as with all of our project parades, we've got prizes! To enter, just link up your creation focused on encouraging words or friendship to the Mr. Linky widget on the DAY 1 POST before midnight MST on Sunday, October 18. One lucky stamper will win a $35 gift certificate to the Verve Store. And for another chance to win, be sure to give the Divas a little shout out in the comments as they parade their fabulous creations inspired by this month's theme. One lucky commenter during the course of the parade (Oct 5 - 17) will win their choice of any Verve set. Can't wait to see your lovely projects!!!

August Project Parade - Day 7

Happy Tuesday! Jen Tapler here with another installment of the Happiness for Hostesses Project Parade. Wowza! The divas are sure outdoing themselves this Project Parade and I know I'll won't be lacking for gift ideas for quite some time!!

For my project, I decided to make a simple little gift to take to my next Book Club get together. I just love this group of girls and we always have such a good time gossiping, eating, drinking lots of wine, and sometimes we even discuss the book! We take turns hosting our informal "meetings" and everyone usually brings a little something to eat. Now, I do NOT cook. Like hardly AT ALL. Nothing. Joel does 99% of the cooking at our house. If Joel has to work late and (oh No!) I have to be responsible for dinner, it almost always is Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. No lie. (fortunately Joel likes to cook and is WAY better at it than I am so this doesn't happen very often!!). Anyway, I used to get really stressed out about book club meetings because the other girls would always bring these really yummy creative dishes to share and here I was with a box of Oreos or a bag of chips and bean dip or something (unless I could bribe Joel to cook something that I could pass off as my own - but that usually involved payment of the dreaded variety...LOL!!). So I came up with something that seems to have made everyone happy - instead of food I take the hostess some cute little papercrafted gift. Only one other girl in the group is crafty so these gifts are adequately oohed and aahed over and everyone seems to overlook the fact that I've arrived food-less!!

Anyway, all of that to say that today I'm sharing with you the gift I'll be taking to next week's Book Club meeting. It's just a little thank you card, a bookmark, and a little gift box full of the hostess' favorite candies. I stamped the polka dots from Bountiful Backgrounds in Fresh Snow ink (PTI) on Kraft CS (surprise, surprise) for the base of all 3 items. I also included Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate Chip.

The little gift box was created using the Favor Box die from Sizzix, I filled it up with Macadamia Nut Hershey's Kisses, tied it up with some Riding Hood Red ribbon and added a little tag stamped with one of the sentiments from Bountiful Backgrounds.

For the bookmark and card, I used the butterfly image from the new Enjoy set along with my Circle Nestabilities. I added a jumbo eyelet and some more Riding Hood Red ribbon to the top of the bookmark. All in all, it was a quick and easy yet very effective gift for the next Book Club hostess!!

Have all of these Hostess Gift ideas got the wheels of creativity spinning yet? We'd love for you to join us this month! To play along, just make a project or card that shows us your take on the Happiness for Hostesses theme. Verve Stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em we love to see 'em! Then just add a link to your creation to the Mr. Linky form in DAY ONE's POST before 8PM Mountain September 12. Two lucky participants will win a stamp set of their choice from the Verve Store. We've also hidden another $25 gift certificate somewhere along the parade for a random commenter. So if you like what you see, be sure and give a little shout out in the comments of each post! Have fun and good luck!

August Project Parade: Day TWO!

Hi, Verve Fans, it's Shannan here! I'm so excited to bring you my project for August's Project Parade. As Jen announced yesterday, this month's theme is HAPPINESS FOR HOSTESSES. I hate showing up anywhere with empty hands, so project ideas like this that are easy and simple is something I'm always after.

Today I decided to show you a little project for a chocolate lover. Now, I know you guys are wayyyy too health-conscious to eat chocolate *wink* but you never know when it might come in handy. I just emptied a jar of Cheese Whiz (ignore previous health reference) this week in a casserole, so I decided it would be perfect for a candy jar. The lid was red, and there's no changing that, so I added it to black, white, and kraft...one of my favorite combos.

I simply filled the jar with Hershey's Kisses, stamped a little tag using stamps from A Cup of Life for the top, and punched out a few circle shapes with my Marvy punches to decorate the lid. Black ribbon fit around the edge of the lid perfectly (to hide the array of foods Cheese Whiz should be used on). This gingham fabric was in my stash, so I tied it in a knot around the jar and added some twine just for fun.

The card measures 4 1/4" square, and I stamped the bottom half with the lined image from Bountiful Backgrounds in white pigment ink. I used tape to mask the word "coffee" from the sentiment from Delightful & Delicious, then stamped the rest of the sentiment in Real Red on white cardstock. Then I wrote the word "chocolate" with a black marker, cut it out, and adhered it to the circle to finish the sentiment. More gingham fabric is wrapped around the card base, then the scalloped circle & sentiment were mounted on top with dimensionals. The little flower was a last minute addition, but it just looked like it belonged there.

This was a really quick and easy project...one that will come in handy next time I go to a friend's house to stamp (or thank a girlfriend for watching my kiddos)! I think some more Cheese Whiz may be in order...*grin*

So....have you decided what fabulous hostess gift you'd like to create? We can't wait to see it! August Project Parade: Day One

Welcome to the August Project Parade, which will actually run well into September. More fun stuff to look at and more time to play along to win! Not to mention, there will be creations from some brand NEW Design Team members! This month's theme is:

HAPPINESS FOR HOSTESSES

The idea behind this Project Parade was that you never want to go to a party somewhere empty handed. So what do you bring? You know half of the other people attending will be bringing wine, and you want to make it more personal...and creative. Well, starting today and every weekday through September 11 the Verve Design Team hopes to inspire you to create great hostess gifts and cards.

Today, I am bringing you a hostess gift for the coffee lover. I have had this "design your own" coffee mug in my cabinet for what seems like **forever**! I am glad that I saved it for this project! You just never know when you **might** need something :) I paired it with a glassine bag filled with some chocolate goodies. I used 2 of the new sets, Delightful & Delicious and A Cup of Life. I think this is a great gifty for the coffee lover hostess...

Close up of the mug, which was originally purchased at Target and the tag attached to the chocolate goodies...

We can't wait to see what you come up with for this month's Project Parade! To play along, just make a project or card that shows us your take on the Happiness for Hostesses theme. Verve Stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em we love to see 'em! Then just add a link to your creation to the Mr. Linky form below before 8PM Mountain September 12. Two lucky participants will win a stamp set of their choice from the Verve Store. We've also hidden another $25 gift certificate somewhere along the parade for a random commenter. So if you like what you see, be sure and give a little shout out in the comments of each post! Have fun and good luck!

Project Parade Day 10 - Divine Details

Hi! Laurie here. It's my turn to share with you my project parade creation! My reaction to this month's theme (Divine Details) was two-fold. First, I was excited at the very mention of "details"...as I just love details! Then my excitement turned to worry..."What? You mean I have to have a card making process?"! LOL! After thinking about it for a while, I realized that my "non process" is actually my process! :-)

How I start varies each time I sit down to stamp...which is part of the fun for me. This time, I chose which stamp set I wanted to use first. I LOVE the Kindred Spirits set, so that choice didn't take long! :-)

I next moved on to my patterned paper selection. Truthfully, this part can take me a while...unless something just jumps out and grabs me (which is actually the case for this card). This is where I wish I had more of a process to share with you...but it turned out to be more of a "try it and see if I like it" thing. I created the tone-on-tone embossed background next (using Clear detail e.p., Versamark, & my Stamp-a-ma-jig). Once that was completed, I then changed my mind on the patterned paper and went to my cardstock drawer and pulled out some solid colors. After fiddling with them for a while, I then changed my mind again and went with the original patterned paper I had first chosen!

After I was settled (again) on the paper, I then started thinking about embellishing. I had some red rhinestones sitting out on my desk that I thought would look wonderful on the embossed emblems. I also remembered these decorative metal corners that I had in my embellishment stash, so I took one out to see how it looked on my card. After my embellishments were chosen, then I moved on to how I would lay out my card. Yep, my card "layouts" are chosen to fit my stamps AND embellishments!! LOL!

Up to this point, nothing is glued together yet. This is where I add the details: sponging the edges of my card, stitching around and distressing the outer edges of the background, adding the sentiment, and tying on the ribbon. Oh, one more thing. I want to share my "uber" scientific way I have of deciding when to pop up my layers! If I have ribbon folded under the background layer (on this card I have two different kinds), I usually use some sort of dimensional tape to pop that layer up only because it won't lay flat with the ribbon folded under it! Same with the layer I add on top of the ribbon...it won't lay flat, so I add some dimension! (I told you it was "scientific" LOL!)

Well, that's it! That's my so called "process"! :-)

Wanna play along with us? We'd love it if you did! Just make a project or card that shows us your Divine Details. Verve Stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em we love to see 'em! Then just add a link to your creation to the Mr. Linky form on the Project Parade Day 1 post before 8PM Mountain on Saturday, August 1. Two lucky participants will win a stamp set of their choice from the Verve Store. We've also hidden another $25 gift certificate somewhere along the parade for a random commenter. So if you like what you see, be sure and give a little shout out in the comments of each post! Have fun and good luck!

Project Parade Day 12

Hey there! Jen Tapler here to share my It's a Guy Thing project with all you Verve fans (get ready, this is gonna be a long-winded post!!). I don't know about all of you, but the other divas have been knocking my socks off with their amazing projects this month!!

My guy-themed project is a little mini-album I made for Joel, my hubby, for Father's Day featuring about 8 of my favorite photos of him with our son Dean from the day of his birth through last month. The album itself is a tabbed MDF Kaiser Crafts album I picked up at a scrapbook store on the mainland last week. I used printed digital papers from Dani Mogstad's Tough Guy kit (Sweet Shoppe Designs) along with Chocolate Chip and Kraft CS (SU). I added various ribbons, buttons, hemp twine, staples and punches for embellishments and used several new and old Verve sets (all stamped in Chocolate Chip ink) throughout the album. Here's a look at some of the pages...

For the front cover, I used the large "Dad" image from Protector as well as some of the star outlines from Seeing Stars:On the next set of pages, I used a few of the images from the new Dad's Day set (click image for closer view):I love combining my Verve sentiments and for the "Rockstar Dad" sentiment on this set of pages, I masked a sentiment from Starlight Starbright and combined with "Dad" from World's Best, then added more stars from Seeing Stars. On this page, I used another sentiment from World's Best and my Trio of Tags Spellbinders die to create a little photo tag:And finally, for the back cover I used the same printed papers as the front cover, but this time combined the Father's Day Plain Jane with some stars from Seeing Stars.
I think Joel is going to love this little album and it will make a nice addition to our collection of keepsake mini albums!

Remember, just for playing along with our theme, you'll have a chance to win a Verve stamp set of your choice! Just link your creation to the Mr. Linky form on the Verve Blog Day 1 post before 8 pm MT on Saturday, June 20. We've also hidden another $25 gift certificate somewhere along the parade for a random commenter. So be sure to check out each day of the parade, and leave lots of comments along the way! Have fun and good luck!

Project Parade - Day 8

Woohoo! It's my turn to share my project for this month's Project Parade "It's a Guy Thing"! I happen to be sharing my house with lots of guys (my DH and three wonderful sons) so this was a great opportunity for me to make something for them! My middle son Bryan (who is 5), came to me the other day and told me how "pretty I stamp...and could I please make him something sometime". Talk about a heart melter! Well, as I sat down to make him a little "something", I realized that I couldn't make something for just one of my boys...so that is how this little "treat trifecta" came to be! :-)

I just love the new Sweet on You set!! The sentiments are so clever and perfect for little treat containers! These actually came together SO quickly!! I found some amazing templates online (I'll share the links in just a second), printed them out on to colorful c.s., added some stars (made with the Seeing Stars set, punches, & Star Nestabilities) and the coordinating sentiment tags! That's it! I could not believe how easy these were...and I plan on making more for upcoming birthday parties!! Oooh, wouldn't these make fun party favors??!? :-) So fun!

All three templates are from Splitcoast Stampers! You can find the Fry Box HERE, the Sweet Treats Surprise Box HERE, & the Acetate Box HERE.

Project Parade~Day 11!

Happy Mother's Day to all the momma's out there! That goes for REAL kid momma's and FURR kid momma's (like me, hee!) Hope you all had a wonderful, relaxing day and that your family's treated you like the queen's you are:)
Ready to get back to some more "It's a Girl Thing" projects? I made this little ensemble for my mom.

I made her this card and a matching magnet for her refrigerator! My folks live up north and I know from experience that people in the north have a habit of COVERING their fridge's in magnets and photos, lol! So I know this magnet will be loved:) For the magnet, I cut a piece of Melon Berry cardstock with my Labels 1 die and then sewed some patterned paper on top. I stamped the flourishy corner from Because of You in Espresso ink and then stamped it again and cut out the flower and popped it up on dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped off once and then I stamped it on the main panel so it would show up behind the "Mom" stamp. The bottom of the melon berry piece was stamped with the background stamp from Wishful Elegance. Also, I added rhinestones cause I love some bling:)
The card I created using the same main elements and another stamp from Because of You.

Project Parade Day 10 ~ It's a Girl Thing!

Hi! Laurie here, and it's my turn to share with you what I've created for this month's Project Parade! I created a Card Organizer for my mom...and plan on filling it for her throughout the year!

I used THIS tutorial on Splitcoast, some K & Co. papers, & Verve's Beautiful You stamps to create an ensemble that I hope she will love!

Here's a peek at the inside...

Instead of using 12 x 12 cardstock for the inside pages as the tutorial directed, I decided to use some coordinating patterned paper (from the same K & Co collection as I used on the card and outside of the organizer).

Project Parade Day 9

Hi there! It's Laura, and welcome to day nine of our Project Parade. I'm quite excited to share my project with you today. You see, Jen's challenge this month to create something to honour the women in our lives, was just the push I needed to tackle a project that I'd had in the back of my mind for some time now.

I made this for my sister, who is not a cardmaker, despite many attempts to lure her over to the world of stamping. Now, she does like and appreciate handmade cards, and I don't think she buys store bought cards, because Mom keeps her supplied with as many cards as she might ever need. Except, what about the cards she gives Mom? I know she often pulls out a card Mom made and gives it right back to her, so I thought I would give her a selection of cards that covered all the occasions she might want to give Mom a card for.
I pulled out some old designer paper from my stash, and stamped the flowers from Wishful Elegance on a 4 1/4" x 12" panel. I pulled the stem from Thankful Blossoms one of my favorite Verve sets to create a garden effect. The flowers were coloured in with an SU! marker, then adhered to the tin with Modge Podge. I filled the flower centres with Gunmetal Stickles, and added some black trim to the top.

The lid was covered in the same manner, using two 2"x7" pieces of the designer paper, with small cut outs for the handle attachments. I added some flowers to the top and ribbon around the handle. The word "cards" are chipboard letters covered in Gunmetal Stickles. In hindsight, I wish I had coloured them black first, but the sparkles is still there, although it doesn't show well in the photograph.

I couldn't finish without creating a matching card, so using a scrap of the left over designer paper, I created the same scene on the lower portion with Wishful Elegance and Thankful Blossoms, and added the sentiment from Because of You above. I separated the two components with a strip of black satin ribbon. The flowers were coloured with a marker again, and their centres filled with Gunmetal Stickles.

I am looking so forward to giving this to my sister, and I think I met Jen's challenge head on! After all this honours two amazing women in my life!

So are you gonna play too? Just make a project or card that fits your style and celebrates a woman in your life.
