Welcome to Day 7 of the December's Diva Dare!  Maureen here today sharing with you this month's dare entitled Favourite Things.  

So this month, we are daring you to share your favourite Verve creation(s) for this year OR create a new one with one of your favourite Verve products.  

This was the most difficult challenge for me!  Pick ONE favourite?  It's like asking me to pick a favourite child!  LOL  Many of my Verve cards were made for special people in mind and I didn't want to leave anyone out!  So here are the cards that I HAD to share once again :)

 This was the DH's Valentine card using No Matter What (original post HERE).

Next up is the card I made for a colleague who retired in March.  She was also Jake's grade 4 and 5 teacher.  (original post HERE). I used my MOST favourite set, Teachers Count.

 

The DH and I became grandparents this year for the first time.  This was the card I made to welcome our darling granddaughter into the world (original post HERE).  I think this Smallest Things Plain Jane  is perfect for a baby card.

This next one was made for a special woman I met in May, Linda Lantieri.  She is a leader in emotional regulation, the topic of my Masters capstone paper.  She had the good fortune of meeting Mother Teresa so I thought she would love this card with this quote from Kind Words (see original post HERE).

Last, but definitely not least, is the 7th anniversary card I made for the DH.  I love EVERYTHING about this card that celebrates our copper anniversary (original post HERE).  The sentiments are from Small Phrases and Feel the Sun.

Vellum Visions - November Diva Dare

Welcome to November's Diva Dare!  It's Maureen bringing you Day 4!  This month's dare is entitled Vellum Visions.  Soft and classy, vellum always makes a big impression.  So, this month, we are daring you to add some vellum to your card or project. 

Oh, I've been waiting for this Diva Dare for awhile!  I love vellum!  I remember being introduced to it a LONG time ago at my Stampin' Up! workshops and loving the softness it brings to a project.  So I'm always on the lookout for new ideas with vellum.  I came up with the vellum doily idea in the summer during a Verve Release.  I didn't want to cover up some pretty mixed media paper and today's card was the same.  I didn't want to cover up the gorgeous colours on my patterned paper.  Today's card is a for a friend's mom's birthday so I made sure to include these heartfelt sentiments from Doodled Occasions along with the Hearts and Swirls frame from Die Sidekicks.

Welcome to Day 2 of this month's Diva Dare!  This month's dare is entitled Pink Power in honour of October being breast cancer awareness month. 

On my pinkalicious card, I’ve use the brand new Inspire Hope and Pink Power sets from Verve.  I’m mixing and matching the powerful words from both sets to create a chalkboard-ish panel wrapped in my own “pink ribbon” and finished off with some Shine Bright Sequin Mix.

Terrific Trios - September Diva Dare

Greetings Verve fans!  Maureen here bringing you Day 5 of this month's Terrific Trio Diva Dare.  You need to use three of something on your creation.

 

 

 

 I'm a little smitten with those sweet bluebells from Framed Florals.  I just love the two step stamping and that there is a matching Bluebells Die.  I went for some bold complementary colours and layered my tag with the help of the Tagged Rectangle Die.  Some beautiful ribbon from the Signature Ribbon Collection  and a few sequins from the Shine Bright Sequin Mix make this card ready for any happy occasion. I've used the new Viva La Verve sketch and a bit of artistic license to create 3 bunches of flowers for the Diva Challenge :)

Celebrate Good Times - August Diva Dare

Welcome to August's Diva Dare!  Maureen here with my take on this month's dare entitled Celebrate Good Times.     

Verve is turning 7 this month and we’d love to see your celebration cards.  Think wedding, birthday, anniversary… anything that brings the confetti out!

 

 I can always remember Verve's Anniversary year as I got married in the same year!  Lucky 7 this year!  I chose some soft pretty papers from Teresa Collins' Summer Stories pad for the base of my card.  Then I embossed the Happy Place flowers with some old rose gold embossing powder I had in my stash and stamped this beautiful sentiment from Moments Remembered onto a vellum tag.
 

 I looked through some older Verve sets to find the perfect little sentiment to go with the main quote.  This one came from Remember This.  I wanted to somehow acknowledge "7" years on my card so I made this sweet little tag with the "7" from Calendar Countdown.  Of course you can't have an anniversary without some bling so I made sure to use a smattering of the Shine Bright Sequin Mix for a celebratory look!

July 2014 Diva Dare - Day 7

Good morning Verve fans, it is Maureen bringing you Day 7 of the July 2014 Diva Dare!

Inside Out - July Diva Dare

This month we're daring you to create a stamped card and continue the design on the inside for a special surprise for the recipient.  Simply carry over some portion of the card front design on to the inside of your card. 

 

 I need some sympathy cards in my stash so I thought I'd make one with some new and old sentiments.  I created a medallion from Peaceful Medallions to act as a frame for the sentiment from  Moments Remembered.  Then I stamped and fussy cut the feather images from this same set and tucked them behind the sentiment that I punched out with a 1 3/8" circle punch. I used some ivory ribbon from the Signature Ribbon Collection to add some softness and some black and  Shine Bright Sequin Mix to finish off the front of the card.  Now, I don't usually stamp or decorate the insides of my cards because I like to use all that space to write! LOL  So this was a good challenge for me.  I decided to use two sentiments from Forever in our Hearts because I liked the way "Forever in our Hearts" went with the "Forever in my Thoughts" on the front.  The same pattern paper and some black stitching help tie the front to the inside.

A Man's World - June Diva Dare

Greetings Verve Fans!  Maureen here with Day 5 of the June Diva Dare, A Man's World.
 

This month we're daring you to create a stamped card or project with a masculine theme.   

I was itching to make another shaker card with some more wood veneer anchors along with the Metal Mix Sequins mix.  I created the faux metal panel with some silver metallic paper adhered to cardstock and then embossed with the Cuttlebug's Diamond Plate folder.  I stamped the "Happy" from Wonderful Marvelous on the inside of the shaker, then "Father's Day" on the banner.  The small "Dad" banner was created with the Flag it Die Set and a screw brad from Michaels.  Here's a closeup...

May 2014 Diva Dare - Day 7

"Petals and Wings" - May Diva Dare

 

Welcome to Day 7 of May's Diva Dare!  In honour of the newest release, this month's Dare is entitled "Petals and Wings".    

What we're daring you to do this month is create a card with both a flower and a butterfly on it. 

Here's my take on this month's Diva Dare!  It's getting close to the end of the school year so I had to sneak in something from Teachers Count to go along with the flowers and butterflies!

 

Our school secretary asked me to make a special card for a retiring high school counselor.  I'm always excited to make teacher/educator cards because it means I can ink up Teachers Count again!  My inspiration started with the chalkboard paper and then I started adding notebook and ledger paper to the layers.  Primary colours seemed the perfect palette for the Petals & Wings flowers and the So Fluttery butterfly.  A plaid Pennant Trim Die banner, a splash of green
Pastel Polka Ribbon Collection, and a sweet mini bulldog clip makes this card recipient ready!

April 2014 Diva Dare ~ Day 9

Hello there! Maureen here with my take on this month's Diva Dare!

"Little Things" - April Diva Dare

Welcome to April's Diva Dare!  In honour of Spring's arrival (in some parts of North America anyway!), this month's Dare is entitled "Little Things".    The challenge is to create a baby or kid themed card, how fun!

I was inspired by Teresa's Week 2 Viva La Verve sketch and a patchwork quilt.  I made a baby girl card for the Inspiration Hop this month and wanted to make a baby boy card with the same Smallest Things plain jane.  The banners were created with the Flag It Die set.  A little wooden heart and some sequins finish off this sweet little boy's card.
