It's probably no secret that I'm a big fan of hearts in my stamp designs.  My Dad is a Valentine's baby and my hubby's birthday is Feb. 15, so I'm always inspired to design with hearts!  That means there's lots of past inspiration in our design team gallery for this theme, as well.  Below are a few favorites that captured my eye as I perused the gallery.  By the way, all of our in-stock love themed products are 30% off through February 14, so there's still time to grab a little Valentine for yourself!

March 2014 Diva Dare - Day 7

"Do The Polka", March Diva Dare

Hello Dare Challengers! It's your St. Patty's Day birthday Diva bringing you lucky Day 7 of the March challenge for "Do The Polka".

What we're daring you to do this month is to use polka dots somewhere on your card. Whether you choose to strut your polka dot stamps, paper, ribbon or all of the above, we want to see you do the polka!

I am always up for some bright Spring colours and a whole lotta gorgeous shamrocks!  I thought I'd mix it up a bit and use some non traditional colours for my St. Patrick's Day card :)  It was so fun to make a doily out of some light grey polka dot paper and a fun double bow with some green   Pastel Polka Ribbon.  I've made a cluster of Lucky You shamrocks stamped in Kiwi Kiss green and Bermuda Bay teal.  I made the sentiment panel with the Classy Label Die and matching label image from Love Notes.  Now, I have one more card for you!  It's actually the first card I made for the Dare and then I thought,"Hey!  It's St. Patrick's Day! I can't NOT post a St. Patrick's Day card!"  LOL  So here's another card using the just released Better Together stamp set, Curvy Bookplate die with matching frame image from Tag Time.  The polka dots on this one is courtesy of the Polka Dot Basics Ribbon Collection

Before I go I want to wish everyone a wonderful and happy St. Patrick's Day!  Erin Go Bragh!

Deadline to link your cards is 8PM Mountain on Wednesday, March 26th.  Entries must be posted 3/7 or later, include at least one Verve product, polka dots, and be linked up to the linky widget by 8pm Mountain on 3/26/14.

During this month's Diva Dare, there are 2 prizes up for grabs!
Win a $40 Gift voucher to Verve Stamps! Take our "Do The Polka" Dare and link up your card (created March 7th or later) to the linky widget to be eligible to win.  One participant will be randomly selected to win the gift voucher.  You can enter as many times as you like, but each card needs to be in a separate post.

Win a set of your choice! For another chance to win some new Verve, leave a little comment love on our design team's "Do The Polka" Diva Dare posts!  One lucky commenter will win a Verve stamp set of his or her choice, so be sure to tune in each day!  Comment deadline to be entered in our prize drawing is March 26, 2014.

September Diva Dare ~ Day 9

Hello friends! Maureen here and it's my turn to share how I answered this month's Diva Dare!

So what we're daring you to create this month is a card or project using inspiration from a tic-tac-toe board. For example: x’s and o’s, hugs & kisses, squares, circles, grids, you get the idea

I didn't know how to use this fun crossword patterned paper until this month's Diva Dare!  I just love the soft green, blue and aqua colours and thought it would be a great background for a love card.  I pulled out Love Notes, the Scroll Plain Jane and both Jotted Heart and Scroll coordinating dies.  A crisp white doily and some soft white seam binding from the Signature Collection make a perfect canvas for this timeless scripture quote, IMHO :)

Here's some info on how you can play along...

Deadline to link your cards is 8PM Mountain on Wednesday, September 25th.  Entries must be new (posted 9/6 or later), include at least one Verve product, include inspiration from a tic-tac-toe board, and be linked up to the linky widget by 8pm Mountain on 9/25/13.

During this month's Diva Dare, there are 2 prizes up for grabs!

Win a $40 Gift voucher to Verve Stamps! Take our "Tic-Tac-Toe" Dare and link up your card (created September 6th or later) to the linky widget below to be eligible to win.  One participant will be randomly selected to win the gift voucher.  You can enter as many times as you like, but each card needs to be in a separate post.

Win a set of your choice! For another chance to win some new Verve, leave a little comment love on our design team's "Tic-Tac-Toe" Diva Dare posts!  One lucky commenter will win a Verve stamp set of his or her choice, so be sure to tune in each day!  Comment deadline to be entered in our prize drawing is September 25, 2013.

September Diva Dare ~ Day 8

Hi everyone! Jen here with Day of the September Diva Dare!!

So what we're daring you to create this month is a card or project using inspiration from a tic-tac-toe board. For example: x’s and o’s, hugs & kisses, squares, circles, grids, you get the idea.

Well, I took the tic-tac-toe idea VERY literally, lol and used a bit of washi tape to create a tic-tac-toe board that I filled with stamps. :)

I knew I wanted to make a card that was clean and simple so I started with a kraft card base and then spotted my black polka dot washi tape and the card just sort of fell together. I love black, red and kraft together! I used Love Notes for all the stamping alternating between the hearts and XOXO's to fill in the board. I finished the board by tying twine around the winning row and adding a tag made from one of the Banner Bundle Die Set dies stamped with I <3 You. I then distressed the edges and popped the main layer up on foam tape. It was so quick and easy and I love how it turned out!

September Diva Dare - Day 5

Hello friends!  It's Laurie S. here, and it's my turn to share how I answered this month's Diva Dare!

So what we're daring you to create this month is a card or project using inspiration from a tic-tac-toe board. For example: x’s and o’s, hugs & kisses, squares, circles, grids, you get the idea.

I went quite literally with this month's theme, making a grid of sorts by stitching on the vellum cardstock.  I used flowers as the "o's"and hearts as the "x's".  The flowers are from Verve's Dream Big set (each cut out using the Scalloped Flowers Die Set).  The small heart, large heart, and sentiment are all from the Love Notes set.  I cut the large heart out using the Jotted Heart Die.  The pretty aqua seam binding ribbon is from Verve's Signature Ribbon Collection (have I mentioned how thrilled I am that Verve is now offering ribbon?).

Here's some info on how you can play along...

Tic-Tac-Toe, September Diva Dare

Hello Verve fans!! Marisa here with this month's Diva Dare entitled "Tic-Tac-Toe".

Here is my card using this month's dare:

I went with X's and O's aka: hugs and kiss (or smakies and squashes as our family says) because they go together like peanut butter and jam LOL!

Echo Park's Yours Truly papers were a perfect fit, as was my X's and O's embossing folder.  I added my beloved Jotted Heart, a mix of sentiments from Love Notes and finished things off with some red seam binding from the Truly Madly Deeply set.

Deadline to link your cards is 8PM Mountain on Wednesday, September 25thEntries must be new (posted 9/6 or later), include at least one Verve product, include inspiration from a tic-tac-toe board, and be linked up to the linky widget by 8pm Mountain on 9/25/13.

July Diva Dare 2012 - Day 6

Hello Verve fans and welcome to day six; Teresa here sharing my Verve Diva Dare with you.  This month, we dare you to make a card or project using a BIRTHDAY theme.  If you haven't heard it is birthday month here at Verve; I happen to be one of the birthday gals, along with Julee and three others.  Let's celebrate with some fun birthday projects!  We can't wait to see how you answer the dare! (Stay tuned to see how you could win some shiny new Verve!)

Here is my little burlap birthday combo

I have made a burlap pouch, that will fit my 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 card, plus room enough for a gift card or a small gift.  You could add a bag of goodies; candy, buttons, ribbon, or jewelry.

My card is designed based on this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch with a tiny bit of tweaking and turning...lol.  You can play along with us here at The Mojo Monday Blog.  I have used the Verve stamp sets Love Notes, Wishing You, and Big Wish.  The main panel shape was cut with the A Cut Above Verve Classy Label Die.

Here is a closer look at the sweet burlap bag, I used an 8 x 8 piece of burlap and folded the corner to the middle and then the two sides.  I used Scor-Tape to adhere it together, the flap is held with a glue dot; it works great!

Here is my sqaure card tucked inside with plenty of room for that special birthday giftie!  I cannot wait to see what you create for the Verve Diva Dare....have fun!

September Diva Dare ~ Day 8!

Hi everyone!! Maureen here to give you Day 8 of the September Diva Dare!  This month, we've come up with a fun challenge, we DARE you to Case-a-Diva!  With nineteen Divas (see the photos and links on the right sidebar), the inspiration is vast!  For those of you that are wondering...CASE means to copy and share everything.  And that is just fancy talk for copying!  What you copy is up to you!  It can be a layout, color scheme, or even something more subtle like a certain embellishment cluster!

You will find the links to all the Diva's blogs on the right sidebar, or you can visit their individual Verve galleries!

I LOVED this challenge as soon as I heard about it, I thought, “EEK!!!  How will I ever choose?”  Lucky for us Divas, Andrea came up with the fabulous “draw a Diva” idea.  Phew!!  It didn’t matter who I got as I LOVE all the Divas and their work and would be honoured to CASE any one of them!!  My draw?  The super sweet and ultra talented Diva Teresa Kline!!  Oh, my!!  Love her!  No, seriously, L-O-V-E her!!  So off to her Verve Gallery I went to TRY and NARROW down one card I could CASE and do her proud.  And like me, I had to pick 3 projects ( HERE 1, HERE 2, HERE 3) lol.   BUT, I put them into one card here :)  So, this is what I know about Teresa’s style…gorgeous, muted papers, LOADS of distressing, fun stitching, lace, seam binding and lots of elegant details.  Yes, DETAILS, DETAILS, DETAILS.  I think I’ve done that using the You and I and Love Notes sets along with the Jotted Heart and I {heart} U dies.

I love adding a little bookmark as a little added bonus in an envelope.  Here it is using a fabulous quote from Words of Wisdom on the Sweet Scallop Tag die.

April Verve Diva Dare ~ Day 5

Good morning Verve fans!  It's Maureen and Day 5 of the April Diva Dare!  For those of you that are new to this challenge, here is how it works...following each release, we will post a theme that we dare you with, and you'll have two weeks to complete the challenge.  During those two weeks, the release team will post their creations and tell you how they answered the dare!

This month we dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme - April Showers Bring May Flowers!  With the warmer weather, new growth, and all the fresh and beautiful blooms that abound, it is easy to be inspired by Spring!  How you interpret the dare is completely up to you!  To sweeten up the challenge, stay tuned to learn how you could win some brand new Verve!  Okay, here’s how I answered the DARE…

carddivadareapril

I have been having a ball lately making paper flowers with my stash of sheet music paper (from Janelle!).  So I cut out 4 layers of paper with the large and medium Floral Circle dies, scrunched and inked them up with a bit of tea dye ink and attached all the layers with some crystal brads.  For the leaves, I die cut some balsa wood with the Elegant Leaves die and stamped the matching image from Bloom and Grow in chocolate chip.  I found that green wasn’t bold enough to show up against this fabulous Basicgrey paper.  The Classy Label die with matching stamp image from Love Notes was the perfect shape and size to hold the Love Deepens sentiment.  Now, I just couldn’t stop at a card…remember these flower pots on Splitcoast Stampers?  LOL  I saw these 2 years ago and fell in love with the idea so I thought I’d revisit it!

cardandbookmark

I tried keeping the flowers relatively flat so that this could eventually be used as a book mark.  Again, I made the flowers using the Floral Circle dies and stamped the bookmark with 2 sentiments from Love Deepens.  This time, however, the Elegant Leaves are just die cut from cardstock….balsa wood is very fragile, especially after being flattened in the Cuttlebug so it wouldn’t last very long on a book mark (my little FYI to you! lol).

March Diva Dare - Day 2

Welcome to Day TWO of the March Diva Dare!  Here's how our Diva Dare works... following each release, we post a theme we dare you with, and you'll have two weeks to complete the challenge.  During those two weeks, the release team will post their creations and tell you how they answered the dare!

This month we dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme - Color Me Spring!  Whether you are shoveling snow off of your sidewalks and only dreaming of warmer weather or you are already enjoying the first blooms of the season, this challenge is sure to put a spring in your step! How you interpret the challenge is up to you!  Stay tuned to learn how you could win some shiny new Verve!!

This is how I answered the dare...

When I think of spring.... one of the things that I think about is our wee little daughter and her birthday next week! She born on Easter (a week after her duedate!) and when she was born, all the nurses at the hospital gave her little bunnies and baby chick stuffed animals - so sweet! So for my  Color Me Spring, I decided to make a little birthday present for my little chickie :) I made a card and a coordinating footstool/bench that I painted and then covered with modpodge to protect it and then covered it with a light glaze.  I painted it in her favorite color: purple! Here is a picture of the little giftset that I made for my chickie princess:

I painted a white footstool with purple and then covered it with the papers from the EP Springtime collection. For the footstool, I created a little layout using Charley from the Chicks Rule collection, as well as her friends from the To The Moon stamp set (adding a bright pink bow to their head :)

On the sides of the little bench - I stamped the sentiment: "Chicks Rule" from the Chicks Rule stamp set and added hearts from the Love Notes stamp set.

Here is a picture of the top of the little bench:  I cut out the larger shape using the Grand Calibur and then added a scalloped edging on the sides. I love this sentiment - because it is so true - my little 3 year old is totally one of the coolest chicks I know! I stamped little Charley and her friends and paper pieced them using the DP and then added a pink bow to each of them from the Chicks Rule Stamp set.

Here is the birthday card for me little princess :) One of my favorite things that my daughter does every morning when I leave to go to work, is open the window and she watches me walk to the car and when I open the car door - she always yells out "I love you" and I say "I love you too!" and then we both wave to each other - its one of my favorite parts of our morning routine - so I thought that I would make little Chole wave from out the window. I created a little cut out shape and then added shutters and added a little window basket by cutting out half of  the basket from the Chicks Rule stamp set. I added the happy birthday sentiment from the Birthday Bash stamp set into the newly released Charming Oval die set from A Cut Above dies from Verve stamps:

Card Ingredients:
Paper: Springtime collection from EP and purple prism papers
Stamps: Chicks RuleLove Notes (for the little trio of pink hearts), To the Moon (for the little monkey, bear and elephant) , Birthday Bash (for the sentiment)
Inks: Memento Tuxedo black, Grape Jelly, RoseRed
Accessories: liquid pearls, pink ribbon from stash, Spellbinders, bling, copics, sponger, dimensionals, scorpal, star hatpin, stickles (Diamond), Martha Stewart heart punch, footstool from Michaels, copics and bling.

I love spring and I love being able to leave the snowsuits at home and go for a walk with my kids! I am excited to decorate the house in pink and purple for our daughter's springtime birthday and even more excited to give her this Chicks Rule giftset :) Hope you will play along with the Diva Dare challenge and share with us your Color Me Spring creation!

January Diva Dare – Day 10

DivaDareFrame200_JAN11

Greetings Verve Fans!!!  It’s Maureen and I have the honour of wrapping up our fabulous new Diva Dare Challenge this month.  I don’t know about you, but the Divas have been melting my heart for the last 9 days with the sweetest Baby Love creations.  Before I get onto my take for the challenge here are a few details…

We dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme - Baby Love!  The baby part could be for a new little someone...or a special someone!  Be sure to look for the details on how you can win some new Verve goodies at the end of this post!

My ideas for this one kept changing over the week…UNTIL I noticed one of my 7 year old female students wear the sweetest little zippered flower party shoes to school.  I then thought of my sweet little niece, Ava, who is around the same age.  She is the last girl grandchild in our family so her (and her twin brother!) are the “babies,” no matter what age they are! LOL  So with “zippers,” my sweet and patient-with-the-boys-in-our-class girl students and my sweet “baby girl” niece in mind, I created this card…

yougogirl

I used a stamp from Text Objects to make a black border, then stamped “Baby Girl” from To the Moon in different colours to match the zipper.  I love this “You Go Girl” sentiment from the same To the Moon set.  With zipper flowers on my brain, I wanted to make (YES “make with my own hands!” lol ) a fun zipper flower hair band to wrap up as a little gift.  I have only one son so I’m always fascinated by how my girl students and niece are wearing their hair on any given day.

headband

Of course, the hair band needs to be wrapped in some fun packaging with a fabulous matching tag…

Oh, I just love using this Sweet Treat stamp with the Sweet Scallop die :)  Here’s a closeup…

So......will you answer the dare? If so, here are the rest of the details:

1. Play along with us and link up your new Baby Love creation (posted January 14th or later) to the linky widget on the DAY ONE Diva Dare post before midnight MST on January 29th. One lucky stamper will win a $30.00 gift certificate to the Verve Store. Verve Stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em we would LOVE to see ‘em!

2. For another chance to win, be sure to give the Divas a little shout-out in the comments section as we share our Baby Love creations. One lucky commenter will win the Verve stamp set of his or her choosing! Winners will be announced on Monday, January 31st right here on the Verve blog.

I hope you’ve been inspired by my Baby “Girl” Love gift…I can’t wait to see what YOU dare to make ;)  Have a wonderful day!!
