I love these kinds of challenges!  It's fun to look back over the past year's creations!  I think we all should do it more often!  :-)

I've said it before, but I can't help but say it again...  I LOVE Verve sentiments!  The fonts are stunning, as are the quotes and sentiments that she includes in her sets!  I especially love the font in this set, More Than Love!  And just look at that distressed heart!  Love, love, love it!  I used the Sweet Scallop Tag die to create my tag.  I added some seam binding (from the Stormy Skies Collection) and several flowers for embellishment.

November Diva Dare - Day 8

Welcome to November's Diva Dare!  It's Laurie bringing you Day 8!  This month's dare is entitled Vellum Visions.  Soft and classy, vellum always makes a big impression.  So, this month, we are daring you to add some vellum to your card or project.

This is one super easy Diva Dare for me!  I absolutely adore vellum and actually try not to use it on every card!  Hee!  I embossed one of my favorite sentiments from the Stronger Love stamp set onto vellum using black detail embossing powder.  I kept the design simple, adding just a few embellishments.

October 2014 Diva Dare - Day 5

Welcome to October's Diva Dare!  This month's dare is entitled Pink Power in honor of October being breast cancer awareness month.  Many of us have had friends and family who have waged a battle against this disease.  My grandmother, mother, and now my Aunt have all been diagnosed with this horrible disease.  I am so grateful for any stamp set that will encourage, uplift, and bring a smile to those that are also fighting this disease.

 
I really love the sentiments in the Inspire Hope set!  I think they are perfect for sending some love and encouragement!  I started with a couple of pink patterned papers and then layered on some patterned vellum.  I embossed the frame and sentiment using white embossing powder and the flowers using silver embossing powder.  I added some silver cording, a mini clothes pin, rhinestones, and some sequins for embellishment.

September 2014 Diva Dare ~ Day 11

Hi Verve fans!  Laurie here bringing you day 11 of the September Diva Dare!  This month is all about threes!  Back to school time usually means life is a 3 ring circus, so this month we're daring you to add 3 of something to your card or project. 

To answer the Dare, I cut out three coffee word die cuts (using the Verve Coffee Word Die).  I so adore the beautiful scripty font!  I also stamped one of the coordinating sentiments from the Coffee set.  For my embellishment/ribbon treatment, I started by layering on a burlap heart (cut using the Jotted Heart Die).

Celebrate Good Times - August Diva Dare

Welcome to August's Diva Dare!  Laurie here with my take on this month's dare entitled Celebrate Good Times.     

Verve is turning 7 this month and we’d love to see your celebration cards.  Think wedding, birthday, anniversary… anything that brings the confetti out!

 

 

I have been wanting to watercolor this flower image (from the new Happy Place stamp set) for a while now, so that is how I started this card!  For the sentiment, I chose the large celebrate sentiment from the Moments Remembered set, and added it as a banner across the card.  For embellishment I adhered some wee little wooden hearts (that I dyed to match the flowers), rhinestones in the center of the flowers, as well as a library clip and twine.

July 2014 Diva Dare - Day 10

Hi there Verve fans!  Laurie here, bringing you day 10 of the July Diva Dare!

Inside Out - July Diva Dare

This month we're daring you to create a stamped card and continue the design on the inside for a special surprise for the recipient.  Simply carry over some portion of the card front design on to the inside of your card.   

Here's what I came up with...

 

For the front, I stamped several of the medallion images from the Peaceful Medallions set, and then used my circle punches to punch them out.  It's hard to see in this photo, but I stamped the leafy image from the  Happy Place set all over the dark gray background paper.  For embellishment, I added some seam binding (from the Signature Ribbon Collection) and a couple of wooden hearts.

For the inside, I added a strip of coordinating patterned paper (from the same patterned paper pad), and couple more punched out medallions.  For the sentiment, I stamped the 2 Corinthians 12:9 Plain Jane using dark gray ink.

May 2014 Diva Dare ~ Day 10

Hi friends, Laurie here sharing my take on this month's Diva Dare!  In honor of the newest release, this month's Dare is entitled "Petals and Wings".    

What we're daring you to do this month is create a card with both a flower and a butterfly on it.

Here's how I answered the dare...

I started by cutting some banners (using the Banner Bundle Die Set) out of patterned paper.  I chose my patterned paper to be the petals part of the challenge.  For the wings part, I embossed and die cut the butterfly form the Die Sidekicks set (using the previously released All Aflutter Die Set).  The sentiment is from the Petals & Wings set.  For embellishment, I added some super sparkly sequins from the Shine Bright Sequin Mix.

April 2014 Day 3

Laurie here bringing you April's Diva Dare, day 3!  In honor of Spring's arrival (in some parts of North America anyway!), this month's Dare is entitled "Little Things". What we're daring you to do this month is to create a baby or kids themed card. 

I created a baby card for this challenge!  I love making baby cards...it's such a happy occasion!  I used some pretty Pebbles patterned paper paired with the Verve sets Treasured Words and Shining Star.  Along with those sets, I used the coordinating Rounded Rectangles Verve die.  For embellishment, I added a few girly baubles.  :-)  The seam binding is from the Truly, Madly, Deeply collection.

March 2014 Diva Dare - Day 10

Hi there!  Laurie here, bringing you Day 10 of the March Diva Dare challenge, "Do The Polka".  

 
What we're daring you to do this month is to use polka dots somewhere on your card. Whether you choose to strut your polka dot stamps, paper, ribbon or all of the above, we want to see you do the polka! 

I am completely smitten with Verve's sentiments!  I love what they say, I love the mix of different fonts, & I love how balanced they look!  Verve makes some amazing images as well, but oh those fonts...they are a show stealer!  :-)  Because I wanted the sentiment to really shine (I used one from the new Better Together set), I embossed it on cardstock that I die cut using the Jotted Heart die.  For the polka dot part, I added some circles that I punched out and then did some simple stitching on them.  Kind of fun, but still subtle so the sentiment is still the focus.

Hi friends!  Laurie S. here, and I'm so excited to be back posting here on the Verve Blog!  With a new baby in our house, there is definitely a lot of love...so I am especially excited about this month's theme!

What we're daring you to do this month is to make a card or project with a heart, whether it's for the one you love, a sweet Valentine or a lunch note for a child.  Let's get smitten!

I went with the love theme...and even included a heart!  Well, that wasn't too hard because I absolutely adore Verve's Jotted Heart die! 

The sentiment and heart image are both from the Chevron Love set.  I heat embossed the sentiment so that it would stand out a little more.  I added some cork embellishments, along with a heart rhinestone.  I just love how Verve's classy fonts can make any card special!

September Diva Dare - Day 5

Hello friends!  It's Laurie S. here, and it's my turn to share how I answered this month's Diva Dare! 


So what we're daring you to create this month is a card or project using inspiration from a tic-tac-toe board. For example: x’s and o’s, hugs & kisses, squares, circles, grids, you get the idea.

I went quite literally with this month's theme, making a grid of sorts by stitching on the vellum cardstock.  I used flowers as the "o's"and hearts as the "x's".  The flowers are from Verve's Dream Big set (each cut out using the Scalloped Flowers Die Set).  The small heart, large heart, and sentiment are all from the Love Notes set.  I cut the large heart out using the Jotted Heart Die.  The pretty aqua seam binding ribbon is from Verve's Signature Ribbon Collection (have I mentioned how thrilled I am that Verve is now offering ribbon?).
