September 2014 Diva Dare Day 6

Jen here with Day 6 of the September Diva Dare! It's Terrific Trios this time so we have to use 3 of something on our card.

Here's my card:

 

I used Better Together and Framed Lilies for my card.  The background was made by stamping the background from Better Together on white cardstock and then heat embossing it with white embossing powder. I then sponged over that with Pickled Raspberry, Broken China and Peeled Paint Distress Ink. After I sponged everything on I got my fingers wet and flicked water on the paper to make the water spots. I embossed the strip of vellum with Seeing Spots Cuttlebug embossing folder and then added a bit of ribbon from the Polka Dot Basics Ribbon Collection. I finished the ribbon off with a bit of baker's twine and added three rhinestones to the heart.

My trio of items could be a number of things, lol. I have three rhinestones as well as three types of polka dots.

April 2014 Diva Dare - Day 5

"Little Things" - April Diva Dare

Welcome to April's Diva Dare!  In honor of Spring's arrival (in some parts of North America anyway!), this month's Dare is entitled "Little Things".    

It's Charmaine and I'm excited to bring you another day of "Little Things" inspiration!  

What we're daring you to do this month is to create a baby or kids themed card. 

 

 

I just LOVE making cards for kids or babies.  I love using cute patterned papers or fun colors, and a kid or baby-themed card is a perfect way to do that!   For this card I used the Chevron Love set along with some patterned paper from My Mind's Eye called Alphabet Soup-Girl. 

I just LOVE the fun animals and the colors in this patterned paper.  It can work for either a baby or an older child.  I used the coordinating Jotted Heart Die to die cut the heart.  Along the left edge of the card, I used the Pennant Trim Die from Verve. 

To finish the card, I used some ribbon from the Signature Ribbon Collection along with some Baker's Twine and bling!  Now it's your turn!!

March 2014 Diva Dare - Day 10

Hi there!  Laurie here, bringing you Day 10 of the March Diva Dare challenge, "Do The Polka".  

 
What we're daring you to do this month is to use polka dots somewhere on your card. Whether you choose to strut your polka dot stamps, paper, ribbon or all of the above, we want to see you do the polka! 

I am completely smitten with Verve's sentiments!  I love what they say, I love the mix of different fonts, & I love how balanced they look!  Verve makes some amazing images as well, but oh those fonts...they are a show stealer!  :-)  Because I wanted the sentiment to really shine (I used one from the new Better Together set), I embossed it on cardstock that I die cut using the Jotted Heart die.  For the polka dot part, I added some circles that I punched out and then did some simple stitching on them.  Kind of fun, but still subtle so the sentiment is still the focus.

"Do The Polka", March Diva Dare

Welcome to March's Diva Dare!  This month's Dare is entitled "Do The Polka".    

What we're daring you to do this month is to use polka dots somewhere on your card. Whether you choose to strut your polka dot stamps, paper, ribbon or all of the above, we want to see you do the polka!
 

I just LOVE polka dots. . .and I love to polka!  LOL  What a fun Diva Dare, right?   For my card, I used Text Objects.  The papers are from the Life of the Party Collection from My Mind's Eye.  I started by stamping the medium heart onto the polka dot patterned paper and cutting it out.  Then I used the Bountiful Backgrounds set and stamped the polka dot pattern and stamped and cut out the smaller heart. 

I die cut a large heart using the Jotted Heart Die.  The pink piece of patterned paper has the large polka dots, which make me smile!  :)   As finishing touches, I added the little button as well as the scored dotted line at the top of the card.  Are you ready to polka?

February 2014 Diva Dare - Day 8

"Perk Up" - February Diva Dare

Welcome to February's Diva Dare!  It's Charmaine, and I'm exciting to bring you my take today!  This month's Dare is entitled "Perk Up."    

What we're daring you to do this month is make a card or project to perk someone up, whether it’s with a warm beverage or just a heartfelt sentiment to brighten someone’s day.  No shortage of options as Verve has some wonderful coffee and tea sets as well as a plethora of uplifting/heartfelt sentiments.

I decided to use an old favorite set of mine called Delightful & Delicious.  The papers are from the Fabulous Collection from Simple Stories.  I stamped the "coffee & friends" piece and cut it out.  I cut various hearts using the Jotted Heart Die and the Heart Quartet Die.  I added a border of hearts using the Scalloped Trim Trio.

To embellish a little, I added some ribbon from the Summer Sailing Ribbon Collection.  Finally I added some "pearls" using a pearl pen.   Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you choose to accept the dare!  ;)

January Diva Dare ~ Day 11

"Smitten", January Diva Dare

Hello Verve lovelies and friends!  Welcome to the first Diva Dare of 2014!  This month's Dare is entitled "Smitten". Of course the first word that comes to mind with smitten is love, therefor what better symbol for love than some glorious hearts?

What we're daring you to do this month is to make a card or project with a heart, whether it's for the one you love, a sweet Valentine or a lunch note for a child.  Let's get smitten! 

Instead of going the traditional Valentine red/pink/white route (which I do love, by the way), I decided to combine my love of wintry objects with my hearts, i.e. snowflakes....

To make those crazy hearts, I cut out a bunch of Jotted Heart dies, Wavy Hearts and Heart Quartet dies. I then inked up the inside of a Snowflake embossing folder with some Cocoa ink and ran it through my Big Shot. The ink gives the designs a nice outlined appearance. I coupled those hearts with some wood veneer snowflakes....the big one is an ornament that I purchased at Michael's and the smaller ones I got from TJ Maxx...(you know all that cool stuff to look at while waiting on line?). The sentiment was pieced together from Verve's Merry Wishes set. All patterned papers are from Maja Design's Vintage Frost Basics collection. Lastly, a few strategic pearls finishes it off.

Hi friends!  Laurie S. here, and I'm so excited to be back posting here on the Verve Blog!  With a new baby in our house, there is definitely a lot of love...so I am especially excited about this month's theme!

I went with the love theme...and even included a heart!  Well, that wasn't too hard because I absolutely adore Verve's Jotted Heart die! 

The sentiment and heart image are both from the Chevron Love set.  I heat embossed the sentiment so that it would stand out a little more.  I added some cork embellishments, along with a heart rhinestone.  I just love how Verve's classy fonts can make any card special!

January Diva Dare - "Smitten"

Hello Verve fans, Christyne here bringing you some inspiration for the first Diva Dare of 2014 entitled "Smitten."

What we're daring you to do this month is to make a card or project with a heart, whether it's for the one you love, a sweet Valentine or a lunch note for a child.  Let's get smitten!

For my card, I decided to ink up the fabulous chevron hearts from the Chevron Love set.  I combined these with a sentiment from the same set, breaking up the stamp so it would work with this week's Viva la Verve sketch challenge (January 2014 Week 2).   This combined with the Flag it die set for the "To You" sentiment really gave this card a lot of detail!  I can't wait to give this to a special someone in just about a month!!

I also added a bunch of rhinestones and glitter to inspire any last entries for this month's Shimmer and Shine Inspiration Challenge. You still have time to enter, deadline: January 19th!

Hello Verve Daresters! Janelle here posting yesterday's Day 5 on the weekend. For some reason I thought there was one more day in the school week or apparently two Friday's this week. My apologies for leaving you all waiting for the post, but now you can relax on this weekend day and get ready to work your mojo for the dare.  Here we go.

I've just returned from my hometown where I was influenced this time by my brother's rench style. (That's pronounced "ranch" for us city folks.) It's only fitting then that my mojo would will me to pull together this style of card. 

I'm using Verve that is on sale right now like the Chevron Love Stamp Set (on sale!), ribbon from the Red White and Beautiful Ribbon Collection, and Jotted Heart Die. Just a couple more Verve goodies for my card, Award Banner Trim Die and Banner Bundle Die Set, before roping in the design. Hee-hee.

Yes, I did make a lasso for the heart. It just had to be done.

"Smitten", January Diva Dare

Hi Verve fans!  It's Charmaine and I get to share my "smitten" Diva Dare project with you today! 

What we're daring you to do this month is to make a card or project with a heart, whether it's for the one you love, a sweet Valentine or a lunch note for a child.  Let's get smitten! 

I just LOVE creating things for Valentine's Day.  Hearts make me happy. . .and so do the colors associated with Valentine's Day.  For my card, I used the Yours Truly Collection from Pebbles because my card also plays along with the current (all new!!) Viva la Verve Challenge and these colors worked for the color portion of the challenge.  :)

I used the Heart's Desire set from Verve for the "be mine" sentiment as well as the heart arrows.  I also used the I Heart U Die set for the letters and heart trailing down the left side of the card and the Jotted Heart Die for the big heart behind the "U".  "Be Mine" is stamped on a piece that was die cut using the Flag It Die Set.  The arrows are covered in Ruby Slipper Glitz Stickles for some fun sparkle.  So, now it's YOUR turn to get smitten!!

November Diva Dare- Day 2

"Shape Up", November Diva Dare

Good morning, it's Teresa and I am sharing my "Shape Up" Diva Dare creation. If you know me just a little, you probably was expecting hearts...*grin*...they are one of my favorite shapes to use. 

What we're daring you to do this month is to create a card or project including a common shape.  For example:  hexagons, chevrons, arrows, triangles, hearts, stars etc.  Lots of fun ways you can go with this dare and I can't wait to see what you create!

Here is my card using this month's dare and today's Mojo Monday sketch:

I wanted to make a Christmas card using one of the mazing sentiments from the Verve set Unto Us. I think these sentiments are perfect for Christmas cards. I added a glitter filled heart using the verve set Chevron Love, I cut it with the Jotted Heart Die by Verve. I used distressing(one of my favorite ways to embellish) and washi tape strips. I stamped the sweet arrow on a ticket, it is also from the Verve Chevron Love set and clipped it with a tiny clothespin. What a fun dare this month, I cannot wait to see what you create!
