June 2014 Diva Dare - Day 9

Hi there! Amber here to welcome you to Day 9 of our June Diva Dare! This month, we're all about the boys!

 This month we're daring you to create a stamped card or project with a masculine theme. 

Instead of going for a straight up "man" card, I decided to make a birthday card for a LITTLE man!

I obviously had way too much fun with the spray mist on this card, haha! First step was to emboss the gears from Geared Up in white embossing powder on a piece of Tim Holtz's amazing watercolor paper. After that, I started dripping and splashing some Dylusions inks in blue, turquoise, and a deep blue. To achieve the layers, I dripped ink, then blotted, dripped more ink, then blotted, dripped some water on to pick up colors in some areas, and then dripped some more and hit it with a heat gun to  keep some intense colors as well as the washed out colors. 

The cute little robot is also from Geared Up. The balloons and sentiment are from Chevron Love, and the banner is from Wonderful Marvelous. I embossed the robot and the banner in white embossing powder on vellum paper so I didn't cover up too much of that fun background. For the sentiment, I did some out of the box trimming so my balloons are still attached to the sentiment panel. For one last detail, I added some Metal Mix sequins.

April 2014 Diva Dare - Day 7

"Little Things" - April Diva Dare

Welcome to April's Diva Dare!  In honor of Spring's arrival (in some parts of North America anyway!), this month's Dare is entitled "Little Things".    The challenge is to create a baby or kid themed card, how fun!

Janelle here, to give you my take on the challenge for today.

Nothing is more fun than robots... they're awesome! They can even be used for an any day card.

I used the a robot and sentiment from Birthday Bots and colored with Copic markers on the main panel and doodled some stitch marks for some fun lines. 

I colored and hand cut out some gears from Geared Up popping them up with foam adhesive around and all this is topped off with a few fun metal confetti from the Metal Mix Sequins. Other material for this card are striped washi tape (RAK) and pattern paper (The Escape ~ Little Yellow Bicycle)

April 2014 Diva Dare - Day 4

"Little Things" - April Diva Dare

Welcome to April's Diva Dare!  In honor of Spring's arrival (in some parts of North America anyway!), this month's Dare is entitled "Little Things".    

Stacey here!  I'm so excited to bring you another day of "Little Things" inspiration!  

What we're daring you to do this month is to create a baby or kids themed card. 

The "Little Things" challenge was my chance to dust off these adorable stamp sets, Geared Up and Birthday Bots to create a fun card for a little guy!  When my boys were little, they loved robots, gears and anything with parts - to take apart!  I must admit that making this card had me reminiscing back to a time when my oldest son would tuck his favorite robot under his pillow at night!  Now, he is (almost) 14 and sadly, there are no more robots under his pillow.  Where does the time go?!

In addition to Geared Up and Birthday Bots stamp sets, I used the Rounded Rectangle Tag Die to frame up the cutie-patootie robot, and the Banner Bundle Die Set tucked behind the tag to extend the focal point.

October Diva Dare - Day 12

Hi Verve fans!  It's Julee here, wrapping up the final day of our Tag You're It October Diva Dare.  This month's dare is tags (make a tag, use a tag on a card, be inspired by a tag, etc.)!  Here's how I answered the dare: 

I just love tags and have a drawer in my studio where I'm always collecting different tags that inspire me, thinking I'll add them to a mixed-media project here or there.  So when I saw these Boys Rock tags on some sweet little fuzzy hoodies my boys just got, I knew they were destined for my craft room!  

I decided it would be super fun to make a little tag shaped card and hang it from a goody bag.  I used a tag I had laying around as a template for my tag, then made a folded card base 1/8" bigger all around for the card.  The brushed silver cardstock is embossed with a robot from Birthday Bots and then I took the Boys Rock clothing tags, trimmed one end with pennant ends and adhered to my tag card with dimensionals.  The to/from is stamped using the new Holiday Treats set and I cut them out with pinking circles nestabilities and hand wrote my boys' names.  The little cards are finished off with some Metal Mix Sequins on the robot tummies.

Next I decorated some treat bags using all the gear stamps from Geared Up and then made a hanger for each using Laurie Willison's Decorative Card Hanger Die and then added a bit of pewter liquid pearls for a studded look to match.

October Diva Dare - Day 9

Happy Monday morning! Janelle here today with another angle on our "Tag, You're It!" challenge. But first, did you all love the new Verve Release last week?!?!?!?! The new sets and dies are such a joy to use. You just might see some tags later in this post because I couldn't resist.

Here's how I took the challenge.

I'm in love with these Verve Robots! I stamped one of the robots from Birthday Bots and colored with Copic markers. The gears in the background are stamped in matching inks with gears from the Geared Up set. The sentiment is split up by inking up the stamp and putting scotch tape over half of it and stamping the image down on paper, repeating it for the second half of the stamp. The happy is die cut with the straight flag in the Flag It die set just to go with the popped up elements on our little bot.

I played with the new release on a few tags, too. The images are perfect for making tags with patterns. Here's two styles I came up with in a jiffy.

The chalkboard tag uses Geared Up numbers, sentiment and chevron frame from Holiday Treats which are all embossed on black cardstock. A quick coloring of white chalk smudged over the whole tag finishes it off.

The kraft tags are using Holiday Treats and Geared Up. These tags were such a breeze to put together that I'm certain there will be more made up for the holidays.
