  Pink Power- October Diva Dare

Welcome to October's Diva Dare!  Jen here with my take on this month's Diva Dare, entitled Pink Power, in honor of October being breast cancer awareness month. 

For my card I started with a dark gray cardbase and layered it with pink polka dot paper from Doodlebugs Kraft In Color paper pad. Over that I layered a bit of dark gray houndstooth paper from the same paper pad. I then stamped the sentiment on a banner cut using the Banner Bundle Die Set and matted it with a larger die from the same set. Behind that I cut two small flags and put one on either side using the Flag It Die Set. I used the Pink Power stamp set to stamp the sentiment and the butterfly. To finish everything off I added a few rhinestones to the butterfly and a bit of stitching over the gray patterned paper.

Inside Out - July Diva Dare

This month we're daring you to create a stamped card and continue the design on the inside for a special surprise for the recipient.  Simply carry over some portion of the card front design on to the inside of your card. 

Here is the outside of my card...

Aren't those feathers from the new Moments Remembered stamp set the most GORGEOUS things you've ever seen?!

After stamping and fussy cutting two of those beautiful feathers, I paired them up with a coordinating sentiment from the same stamp set.  There is a peek of Flag It Die Set under the fancy Signature Ribbon Collection bow and several Shine Bright Sequin Mix sprinkles scattered here and there.

I kept it simple here with a second sentiment and smaller feather from Moments Remembered.

June 2014 Diva Dare ~ Day 7

A Man's World - June Diva Dare

Soo...welcome to June's Diva Dare!  As the weather heats up, dads and grads and outdoor fun are foremost in our minds, so our June Dare is entitled A Man's World.    

This month we're daring you to create a stamped card or project with a masculine theme.  It doesn't have to be a Father's Day card, just something masculine. However, if you need to get one done, we're here to help wink, wink. If just reading the theme gives you a creative block, take a deep breath and think clean lines, few embellishments, rugged or distressed edges and muted or earthy colors. Replace bling with wood or metal embellishments, and replace ribbon with twine, rope or twill and you'll be surprised how quickly a masculine card will come together! And I have to say with my love of feminine, frilly, over-the-top girly cards...if I can do this...so can you! Take a lookie...

Ok, ok...I admit there is some semblence of flowers, though, I tried to tone them down a bit with Shine Bright sequins and liquid pearls. Uh, re-reading that sentence didn't really help with my cause at all, haha... Well anyway, I stamped the sentiment from Verve's latest release, Wonderful Marvelous on a piece of cork and added the 'Dad' stamp on a Flag It die cut, also from Verve. I adhered some striped washi tape behind the sentiment and added the wood accents (they're really snowflakes...I kid you not ;). I scored the outer perimeter with my Martha Stewart scoring board and added a bit of cork accent at the bottom, highlighed with more liquid pearls (at least they're black, lol).

A Man's World - June Diva Dare

Greetings Verve Fans!  Maureen here with Day 5 of the June Diva Dare, A Man's World.
 

This month we're daring you to create a stamped card or project with a masculine theme.   

I was itching to make another shaker card with some more wood veneer anchors along with the Metal Mix Sequins mix.  I created the faux metal panel with some silver metallic paper adhered to cardstock and then embossed with the Cuttlebug's Diamond Plate folder.  I stamped the "Happy" from Wonderful Marvelous on the inside of the shaker, then "Father's Day" on the banner.  The small "Dad" banner was created with the Flag it Die Set and a screw brad from Michaels.  Here's a closeup...

June 2014 Diva Dare-Day 3

A Man's World - June Diva Dare

Welcome to June's Diva Dare!  It's Charmaine here with Day 3 of our June Dare, which is entitled A Man's World.  This month we're daring you to create a stamped card or project with a masculine theme.

Masculine cards don't always come easy to me since I love pretty ribbon and bling.  It's easier for me to create a masculine card with no embellishments because then I'm not tempted with those girly embellishments!  ;)  For my card I used the  Wonderful Marvelous set along with papers from the Down By the Shore Collection from Fancy Pants Designs.

I used a polka dot embossing folder to counter the stripes in the paper.  I also used a few Verve dies for my card:  Starry Die,  the Flag It Die Set and the Award Banner Trim Die.  Instead of ribbon, I used some hemp cording to make it a little more manly!  :)

May 2014 Diva Dare ~ Day 9

"Petals and Wings" - May Diva Dare

Hi there, it's Janelle today and welcome to May's Diva Dare!  In honor of the newest release, this month's Dare is entitled "Petals and Wings".    

Since it's a Wednesday I even dropped into my card one rounded hill to help us roll on into the weekend, but first here is our day and my take on this challenge...

What we're daring you to do this month is create a card with both a flower and a butterfly on it. 

My card took the dare literally as in, I have "a" butterfly and "a" flower from the Wings and Petals Stamp Set.

Each were stamped and cut out with it's coordinating die from Petals and Wings Die Set. The sentiment from Wings and Petals is stamped and die cut with Flag It Die Set. The stem and petals is from the Build a Poppy Die Set. I used Gelatos around the background after hand sketching a border and then did some more coloring on each element.

March 2014 Diva Dare - Day 9

Hello there!! Amber here bringing you another day of POLKA DOT FUN!

What we're daring you to do this month is to use polka dots somewhere on your card. Whether you choose to strut your polka dot stamps, paper, ribbon or all of the above, we want to see you do the polka! 

I wanted to make my card more clean and graphic than girly, so I picked some neutral colors and kept the frill to a minimum! I pulled out the amazing new set Better Together to create this card, and as you can see, may pieces of polka dot patterned paper:) The sentiment, red chevrons, and that fantastic dotty graphic stamp are from the Better together stamp set.

The stitching stamp is from Borderline. Love this little stamp! I also outlined all my paper pieces with a black Copic marker to define the edges a bit.

That fun blue flag was cut out with a flag from the Flag it die set, another MUST have.

"Do The Polka", March Diva Dare

Welcome to March's Diva Dare!  This month's Dare is entitled "Do The Polka".    

What we're daring you to do this month is to use polka dots somewhere on your card. Whether you choose to strut your polka dot stamps, paper, ribbon or all of the above, we want to see you do the polka!

I just love using polka dots on cards!  I have a ton of polka dotted paper in my stash, and am always on the lookout for more LOL!  I opted to go with some spring colours as I am desperately waiting for it to arrive.  Not that I have anything worth complaining about versus those of you on the East Coast who have been pummelled with cold temps and snow this winter!  This cute umbrella from Rain or Shine is so much fun to paper piece, and I added some liquid pearl "sand" to ground it.  A secondary sentiment was added using one of the Flag It dies and a sentiment from Friendly Phrases (pssst, it's one of the sets being retired so it's 50% off right now over at the Verve Store!)

January 2014 Diva Dare - Day 7

January Diva Dare - "Smitten"

Hello Verve fans, Christyne here bringing you some inspiration for the first Diva Dare of 2014 entitled "Smitten."

What we're daring you to do this month is to make a card or project with a heart, whether it's for the one you love, a sweet Valentine or a lunch note for a child.  Let's get smitten!

For my card, I decided to ink up the fabulous chevron hearts from the Chevron Love set.  I combined these with a sentiment from the same set, breaking up the stamp so it would work with this week's Viva la Verve sketch challenge (January 2014 Week 2).   This combined with the Flag it die set for the "To You" sentiment really gave this card a lot of detail!  I can't wait to give this to a special someone in just about a month!!

I also added a bunch of rhinestones and glitter to inspire any last entries for this month's Shimmer and Shine Inspiration Challenge. You still have time to enter, deadline: January 19th!
