"Perk Up", February Diva Dare

Welcome Verve lovelies, it's Andrea with you here today to share with you my version of February's Diva Dare!  This month's challenge is entitled "Perk Up".     

What we're daring you to do this month is make a card or project to perk someone up, whether it’s with a warm beverage or just a heartfelt sentiment to brighten someone’s day.  No shortage of options as Verve has some wonderful coffee and tea sets as well as a multitude of uplifting/heartfelt sentiments. 

I always find it so hard to narrow down my options with my Verve stamps, but since I chose to go with the java theme...as well as the 'day brightening' theme...these two sets were the obvious choice:

I figured that Maja Design's Ska vi ta en fika collection would pair perfectly with Verve's Better With You set. I also borrowed the little coffee cup designs from Verve's Sip and Savor set. I roughed up all edges, made a pretty seam binding triple bow with a pearl accoutrement and some strategic liquid pearls. The sentiment was stamped on a Flag It die set from Verve's A Cut Above dies.

I busted out my Better with You stamp set for this challenge, not a MORE PERFECT set for it:)

I stamped the background with the "java" word block, I love that stamp for backgrounds! I also stamped the coffee stain stamp on top of the sentiment, a fun little detail that adds so much!

February 2014 Diva Dare - Day 6

"Perk Up" - February Diva Dare

Welcome to Day 6 of February's Diva Dare!  This month's Dare is entitled "Perk Up."    

What we're daring you to do this month is make a card or project to perk someone up, whether it’s with a warm beverage or just a heartfelt sentiment to brighten someone’s day.  No shortage of options as Verve has some wonderful coffee and tea sets as well as a plethora of uplifting/heartfelt sentiments.

For my card, I well all-out with the sunshine and blossoms!  Verve's Brighter Days set is so full of "Perk Up" sentiments that I had some trouble choosing one.  Once I settled on my sentiment, I used the beautiful blossoms from the set with their coordinating Scalloped Flowers dies and some Prismacolor Pencils in order to bring them to life.  The Dreamy Leaves, Arrow, Banner Bundle, and Scalloped Trim Trio dies were also put to use for this project, adding layers, life and embellishment.  Once all the layers were in place, I sprinkled the card with a few Pastel Sequins and, as usual, I just couldn't resist a giant seam binding bow using the Truly Madly Deeply Ribbon Collection.

A layered Verve card with yummy ribbon, stamped and embossed vellum, stitched panels, sequin sprinkles, curly twine, and glitter paper is definitely one that perks me up!  

 I adore the new Verve Stamps set, More Than Love!  It has the most beautiful sentiment fonts!  I used the small "smitten" as a scripted pattern on the long background panel and heat embossed the larger sentiment in silver onto a vellum Tagged Rectangle Die.   There a few layers of Wavy Hearts and Heart Quartet Dies with a peek of the Classy Label Die, too.  A fabulous Autumn Elements ribbon bow and a sprinkling of Pastel Sequin Mix finishes off this loving card!

February 2014 Diva Dare - Day 4

"Perk Up", February Diva Dare

Welcome to Day 4 of the February Diva Dare!  It's Maureen and I can't wait to share my take on this month's "Perk Up" dare!

What we're daring you to do this month is make a card or project to perk someone up, whether it’s with a warm beverage or just a heartfelt sentiment to brighten someone’s day.  No shortage of options as Verve has some wonderful coffee and tea sets as well as a plethora of uplifting/heartfelt sentiments.

 This challenge was easier said than done.  As I looked through all the beautiful Verve sentiments, I found it very difficult to choose just one.  However, I finally settled on the poem I love to use on graduation cards.  It's from the Believe set (on SALE right now!) and the little "be you" is from Words of Wisdom.  I've accented the card with buttons, twine, a resin flower, my favourite little journal tab, a doily, and some sweet little sequins from the Pastel Sequins Mix (on SALE right now!). February 2014 Diva Dare ~ Day 3

"Perk Up", February Diva Dare

This month's Dare is entitled "Perk Up" and here's what we are challenging your creative minds to join in on with the Divas. 

What we're daring you to do this month is make a card or project to perk someone up, whether it’s with a warm beverage or just a heartfelt sentiment to brighten someone’s day.  No shortage of options as Verve has some wonderful coffee and tea sets as well as a plethora of uplifting/heartfelt sentiments.

Janelle here today with something that I love to share. Coffee! Or Chai Latte, or Soothing Green Tea... well the list goes on until you've exhausted my supply of K-cups®. Tee-hee. My original idea ended when a cutting file search for K-cup® holders came up with coffee sleeves and my creative mind said "let's use it".

Do you remember those personalized scrapbook travel coffee mugs? Take off the bottom, slide out the paper insert to scrapbook and when finished put it all back together again. Well, my coffee sleeve is the same concept.

Open up a used coffee sleeve for your template (or find one online somewhere) and cut out the base paper of your sleeve. I stamped a pattern using the heart in More than Love on kraft paper. Use some clear acetate and sew the two together leaving the top open and cut the acetate away from the base. Round the corners so they won't be pokey. I cut some half circles on the base so it would be easier to insert odds and ends later. Wrap it around your sample latte cup, mark the over lap and slide off to punch holes for brads.

Now have some fun "perking up" someone's day with die cut hearts using the Heart Quartet Die. Use any of Verve's uplifting sentiments like Small Phrases die cut out with Flag It Die Set and accent with Poppy Birthday flowers and coordinating Build a Poppy Die Set.

I used the static cling from the clear acetate to hold the pieces in place and then the bend of the sleeve when put together should tighten up against them so they don't fall out.   

If you get carried away with too many goodies stuffed in there it won't bend to close... yes, I know that from experience. Take the sleeve apart when you're ready to use those extra goodies that wouldn't fit the first time.

It is probably not a shock that I reached for one of the many Verve faith based sets, nothing is more uplifting to me than scripture! I have used the set Scripture Melody 3, it is full of lots of uplifting scripture as well as cross images. I have used a mix of pink pattern papers, some gemstones, and gorgeous seam binding ribbon from the collection Truly Madly Deeply. I cannot wait to see how you interpret this month's dare, I hope I have inspired you to create...sparkle & shine!

As fate would have it, Julee has a "perk up" sentiment in the Better With You set so I just "had" to use it as it fit the challenge title to a tee.  The papers are from the All Spice paper pack by My Mind's Eye and I used the heart die from the Scalloped Trim Trio die set.  Love paper piecing this coffee cup, and as usual, doing so had me craving a latte - bad!!!   May have to remedy that today wink, wink!
