Vellum Visions - November Diva Dare

Welcome to November's Diva Dare!  It's Maureen bringing you Day 4!  This month's dare is entitled Vellum Visions.  Soft and classy, vellum always makes a big impression.  So, this month, we are daring you to add some vellum to your card or project. 

Oh, I've been waiting for this Diva Dare for awhile!  I love vellum!  I remember being introduced to it a LONG time ago at my Stampin' Up! workshops and loving the softness it brings to a project.  So I'm always on the lookout for new ideas with vellum.  I came up with the vellum doily idea in the summer during a Verve Release.  I didn't want to cover up some pretty mixed media paper and today's card was the same.  I didn't want to cover up the gorgeous colours on my patterned paper.  Today's card is a for a friend's mom's birthday so I made sure to include these heartfelt sentiments from Doodled Occasions along with the Hearts and Swirls frame from Die Sidekicks.

October 2014 Diva Dare - Day 6

Hey everyone!

Chaitali here for today's Diva Dare post! This month's dare is entitled Pink Power in honor of October being breast cancer awareness month.

This is a cause very dear to me ofcourse since my mom was diagnosed with it earlier this year. (I hope you checked out the stamp set I illustrated for her!)

However, today I wanted to celebrate the power of pink in another way. My mom recently had her surgery and is recovering well from it! So I have a Congrats card for her!! Here is my card...

This is based on the recent VLV sketch and inspiration pic. I used Peaceful Medallions and Die Sidekicks sets on this one. The enamel dots are home-made (learn more about that here!) :)

July 2014 Diva Dare ~ Day 8

Hello there, lovelies! Amber here with Day 8 of the Diva Dare challenge...hope your week is going well so far, half way to the weekend, WOOP WOOP!

Inside Out - July Diva Dare

This month we're daring you to create a stamped card and continue the design on the inside for a special surprise for the recipient.  

**Simply carry over some portion of the card front design on to the inside of your card. **

I wanted to do something a little different with my card, and let you SEE the inside FROM the outside! 

I got a piece of clear cardstock and created the card base, and then found the patterned paper that I wanted to put on the inside. The papers are from BG's Grand Bazaar (I love this paper!). Next, I cut the turquouise frame and glued it on to the card front, and sewed the corner. I pulled out my beloved Peaceful Medallions stamp set. I cut several of a few different sized circles and then stamped some fun medallions. The big one in the back is embossed in gold, super shiny IRL! The flower is from Happy Place and cut out with one of the dies from Happy Doodles. The sentiment is from Happy Place, and was stamped on a banner cut out with the Scroll die. I used the coordinating scroll stamp from Die Sidekicks for that banner. Here are a couple detail shots...

May 2014 Diva Dare ~ Day 10

Hi friends, Laurie here sharing my take on this month's Diva Dare!  In honor of the newest release, this month's Dare is entitled "Petals and Wings".    

What we're daring you to do this month is create a card with both a flower and a butterfly on it.

Here's how I answered the dare...

I started by cutting some banners (using the Banner Bundle Die Set) out of patterned paper.  I chose my patterned paper to be the petals part of the challenge.  For the wings part, I embossed and die cut the butterfly form the Die Sidekicks set (using the previously released All Aflutter Die Set).  The sentiment is from the Petals & Wings set.  For embellishment, I added some super sparkly sequins from the Shine Bright Sequin Mix.

May 2014 Diva Dare ~ Day 4

Hello there! Amber here to welcome you to Day 4 of this month's Diva Dare. Have you been inspired to create with butterflies and flowers yet? I'm sure you have;)

The May Diva Dare is "Petals and Wings"

What we're daring you to do this month is create a card with both a flower anda butterfly on it. 

I have a picture heavy post for you today as I decided last minute (this morning) to include a quick little tutorial! First up, here is my card using the newly released Die Sidekicks and Petals and Wings

I created the background with Gelatos and a baby wipe (scroll down for tutorial!). After I made the background, I stamped some flowers from Petals and Wings in Versamark and then embossed them with clear embossing powder. I cut the butterflies out with the All Aflutter dies out of another piece of watercolor paper I colored with some orange and pink Gelatos. I then stamped the coordinating butterflies from Die Sidekicks in black ink and popped them up on dimensionals. I added some of the newly released Shine Bright sequin mix and a trail of glitter behind the butterflies and added the sentiment from Petals and Wings on the bottom.

Okay, this may not be a new technique to you, but I've just recently found it and thought I'd share for those of you who never knew! I just bet you have the supplies to do this, too;)

Step one, gather your supplies. You'll need watercolor paper (it may work on regular cardstock, haven't tried it though?), Gelatos, and some baby wipes.

Step Two, scribble the Gelatos on your cardstock in whatever pattern or random sequence you choose! It won't look pretty, and may look like your 1st grader colored it, but don't worry...we'll fix that;)

Step Three, get out a clean baby wipe and start gently rubbing and blending the colors. My tip, start at the lightest color and work your way down so you don't blend the dark color all over your light color. In fact, you may want a new baby wipe for each color...

Wasn't that easy? And so pretty! Tons of different things you could do with this technique. How about emboss resist? Sure!

"Petals and Wings" - May Diva Dare

Hi, it's Charmaine, and I'm bringing you Day 3 of this month's Diva Dare!  In honor of the newest release, this month's Dare is entitled "Petals and Wings".    

What we're daring you to do this month is create a card with both a flower and a butterfly on it. 

For my card, I've used the butterfly from the new Sidekicks stamp set as well as the Being Awesome Plain Jane.  The papers are from the For the Record 2 Collection from Echo Park.  The butterfly was stamped, cut out and covered in Stardust Stickles to give it some shimmer. 

So my answer to the challenge has a stamped butterfly, but the flowers were in the patterned paper.  We'd LOVE to see what you create!  I hope you are inspired to play along!

The darlin flowers are from the Petals & Wings set, luv these flowers, some of my Verve favorites. So what's new?
We've been making room for some new lovelies with a retirement sale, and a few products I just couldn't bear to part with, so we're re-releasing them in compilation sets.

Petals & Wings

First up is Petals & Wings, a compilation of Fluttering By and Petals & Stems.  These sets have always been dear to my heart and I remember during their original release finally beginning to feel like a real artist.  Confidence in yourself is a magical thing, and these sets represent a turning point in my creative journey.

Changes:  I only made one change to these sets from their original form.  The butterfly antennae have been made into separate stamps, to allow versatility for a new coordinating die set.


Wings & Petals Die Set
That brings me to the next new product, the Wings & Petals Die Set, which coordinates with the  Petals & Wings set.  (If you have the retiring sets Petals & Stems or Fluttering By, these dies coordinate with those sets, too, but will cut off the antennae on the butterfly.)   A coordinating die set for these stamps has been the number one request over the years, and I am happy to oblige.


Die Sidekicks
The  Die Sidekicks set is based around retiring stamps that have previously released coordinating dies.  Included in the set are the butterfly and hearts & swirls frame from Twitterpated, the former All Aflutter and Scroll Plain Janes and Vintage Oval Frame (stamp) and Sweet Scallop Tag (stamp).



When I did the re-design of this set, I accidentally sent the file to manufacturing with a butterfly much larger than the coordinating All Aflutter die.  It's a gorgeously huge butterfly, but since the set concept is coordinating dies, we'll be correcting it and only including the correctly sized butterfly on future manufacturing runs.  In the meantime, our first run of inventory of this set will include the larger butterfly and we'll be tucking the correctly sized butterfly in as well. 

Hello Friend and Being Awesome
Since I was revisiting some of my favorite Verve stamps, I decided to enlarge a few favorite sentiments from Happy Hello and make them into plain janes.  I'm so excited to have these fun sentiments, Being Awesome and Hello Friend, take center stage.

Shine Bright Sequin Mix

I came across some super fun embellishments that I just couldn't resist, so we're adding a new sequin mix to the lineup! The Shine Bright Sequin Mix includes 4 sizes of super sparkly clear sequins. 

Since they're clear, they're the perfect accent to any project and the silvery finish gives a spectacular eye catching shine!




That wraps up the "new again" products, we've also got previously released coordinating dies for the Die Sidekicks set and any remaining retiring products from this release on sale HERE.

That's all the compilation sets I'm planning on releasing.  We'll be back on track with brand new never before seen Verve in May!  Hooray!
