February 2014 Diva Dare - Day 8

"Perk Up" - February Diva Dare

Welcome to February's Diva Dare!  It's Charmaine, and I'm exciting to bring you my take today!  This month's Dare is entitled "Perk Up."

What we're daring you to do this month is make a card or project to perk someone up, whether it’s with a warm beverage or just a heartfelt sentiment to brighten someone’s day.  No shortage of options as Verve has some wonderful coffee and tea sets as well as a plethora of uplifting/heartfelt sentiments.

I decided to use an old favorite set of mine called Delightful & Delicious.  The papers are from the Fabulous Collection from Simple Stories.  I stamped the "coffee & friends" piece and cut it out.  I cut various hearts using the Jotted Heart Die and the Heart Quartet Die.  I added a border of hearts using the Scalloped Trim Trio.

To embellish a little, I added some ribbon from the Summer Sailing Ribbon Collection.  Finally I added some "pearls" using a pearl pen.   Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you choose to accept the dare!  ;)

Deadline to link your cards is 8PM Mountain on Wednesday, February 26th.  Entries must be posted 2/7 or later, include at least one Verve product, a warm beverage or heartfelt sentiment, and be linked up to the linky widget by 8pm Mountain on 2/26/14.

During this month's Diva Dare, there are 2 prizes up for grabs!

Win a $40 Gift voucher to Verve Stamps! Take our "Perk Up" Dare and link up your card (created February 7th or later) to the linky widget below to be eligible to win.  One participant will be randomly selected to win the gift voucher.  You can enter as many times as you like, but each card needs to be in a separate post.

Win a set of your choice! For another chance to win some new Verve, leave a little comment love on our design team's "Perk Up" Diva Dare posts!  One lucky commenter will win a Verve stamp set of his or her choice, so be sure to tune in each day!  Comment deadline to be entered in our prize drawing is February 26, 2014.

Winners will be announced on February 27, 2014.

Winter Release Project Parade-Day 5

Hi friends!  It's Teresa and it is my turn to share my trio of goodies for this months theme; Triple Play Project Parade. The challenge is to create a terrific trio of yumminess! This can be to create three different things that all coordinate (like a bag, a card and a tag) or to create three different cards or three different tags -it's up to you.

I found this old school cookie jar with the fun red lid and went from there with my project.  Yummy goodies is what I am sharing, chocolate chocolate chip cookies....hhhmmmm.  These are not homemade, but you can surely make them homemade if you want.  I started with a belly ban for my cookie jar using the Vintage Oval Stamp, Vintage Oval Die, and the set Delightful and Delicious.

I made my card tall and skinny, I figured after all of those yummy cookies, I would need some skinny..lol.  I used the Christmas Blessings Plain Jane and the snowflake from Glad Tidings.

Here is a closer look at the label for my cookie jar.

I made a sleeve for my tag, the tag I will attach to the package for delivery of this yummy gift.  I attached together two pieces of 3 x 3 kraft card stock and stitched around three sides to make a pocket.   The tag fits perfectly inside, so cute!  I used the Glad Tidings Stamp, Glad Tidings Die, and the sentiment from the Glad Tidings set too.  It really is super simple to be able to create a great gift that is made with love and sure to please those on your Christmas list.  I cannot wait to see what fabulous ideas you come up with!  Enjoy.

Challenges and Prizes:

---- One lucky contestant who plays along with the Triple Play Challengewill receive the entire January Release AND will be our Guest Diva for the month of January!!! WOOHOO!!!

---- As always, we've hidden a little prize along the parade. A lucky random commenter on one of the official Parade Posts (11/17 through 12/7) will receive a $25 Verve gift certificate!! Woot!!!

View all the challenge and prize details and submit your Triple Play Challenge projects using the official Project Parade Entry Form and check out all the details of this month's project parade!!!!

Home For the Holidays: Day 12

Good Morning Everyone! Its me - Sankari :) and I have been loving peeking at all the amazing and gorgeous samples that the Divas have been making every day - and they maybe under $10 - but they look a million bucks to me!! So to continue the challenge of creating home decor and accents for under $10 - I created a little hanging chipboard star mobile to hang from our light fixture in the dining room. We are always hanging around the dining room table - whether it is for meal times, snack times or craft time with the kids - I thought it would be nice to decorate that area with a starry mobile :) The total cost of 4 chipboard pieces were $2.99 and each of the ribbons were only 50 cents - bringing up the total to a grand ole: $4.99 (and then some change with tax) - gotta love that!

Each star measures approximately 4 inches across. Each one was colored in on the edges and then I traced the star shape onto the lovely Jolly by Golly paper pack from Cosmo Cricket (each star is double sided - so I traced 8 stars on the different papers - and then adhered them paper onto the stars with some zip dry). I absolutely LOVED making this project and love that we can use it every year! I LOVE all of the wonderful sentiments that Julee has in each of her stamp sets along with the gorgeous images! It totally makes it a breeze to create a project like this! The first star has one of my favorite sentiments: "Snowflakes are winter's butterflies" and this sentiment and the two snowflakes are from the set: Christmas in the Air.

On the back of this star is this gorgeous sentiment from Blessed Christmas: "Have a blessed Christmas and a Prosperous New Year".

The second star's design comes from the beautiful set: Holly Jolly: The holly leaves are stamped 5 times and cut out and then popped up on dimensionals and I love the sentiment: "Have a holly jolly Christmas" :)

On the back of this star is the sentiment "Christmas Blessings" from the stamp set: Blessed Christmas. For this star,I created a little pocket so that my children could write all things that they are thankful for and what they wish for their friends, family and the world (my son's wish for everyone is always that everyone gets to have a monster truck! :)

The third star is one of my faves - I love this little winter scene created from the gorgeous setChristmas in the Air.- where I paper pieced the Christmas tree and then created a little snow scene with some crimped snow, popped up trees and some little buttons to the side.

On the back of this star, I used the sentiment "Let it Snow" from the stamp set: "Snow Wonderful" and I cut some of the hats and mittens out of the paper to create a little scene.

The last star has on the front a little coffee mug (which I am imagining is some yummy hot chocolate!!!) from the set "Delightful and Delicious which is also the expression in the sentiment:

And on the back of the star is a wreath that I stamped and colored with copics and is from the set: O Christmas Tree and in the middle of the wreath is the sentiment "Merry Christmas" that fits perfectly in the middle of the wreath. I decorated with some bling and some liquid pearls :)

Here is how this star looks hanging on the dining room light fixture:

I hope you liked this project - its fun to make and its so nice to see something like this on the dining room area where we are always together all the time :)

So, now it's your turn! We'd love for you to play along with us and show us your homemade goodies for the upcoming giving season! Verve stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em, why not use 'em?

And, as with all of our project parades, we've got prizes!
To enter, just link up your Home for the Holidays creation to the Mr. Linky widget at Day One's post before midnight MST on Thursday, November 26. One lucky stamper will win a $30 gift certificate to the Verve Store. One lucky commenter during the course of the parade (Nov 11 - 25) will win their choice of any Verve set.

August Project Parade-Day 14

Hey everyone, Teresa here; I cannot believe that I am bringing to you the last day of the Happiness for Hostesses Project Parade, haven't the divas turned out some fabulous hostess gifts? It is a dream come true to be working along side these talented ladies, thank you Julee!
My gift is a tin full of coffee beans and homemade coffee cake. I luv coffee, but enjoy it much more when it is fresh ground, lasting and with longtime friends. I have girlfriends that I have known since the third grade and when we get together there is always coffee involved. We are due a get together, so this is the perfect time to call them up and make a date.
I will save my favorite boxes and tins, this is one that was in my stash. I took Basicgrey Blush dp and distressed and layered it and adhered with tacky tape around the tin. Card stock is Prism Burned and Birchtone Light. I used the Mega Curved rectangle nesties for the image Delightful & Delicious and sentiment on the front of the tin. I used the steamy image from the A Cup Of Life set to make the scrolls down the side. I tied it all with a bow and added a tag with the cup image on it. The cups and the scrolls I went over with a glitter pen, not sure if you can see it in the picture. I used Romans 12:13 verse on the card and a button tied with twine on the bow. I ran the card base through the Cuttlebug using the SU Final Press embossing folder, I luv this texture, it is gorgeous! I also picked up these chocolate envies at Michael's, had to have them. I ran a strip of embossed card stock down the front of it and added a few Kaiser Craft pearls. I sure hope that my project has been an inspiration to you and I hope that you can play along in our Project Parade. Just make a project or card that fits with our Happiness for Hostesses theme. Verve stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em, we love to see 'em. Then just add a link to your creation to the Mr. Linky form in DAY ONE's POST before 8PM Mountain September 12. Two lucky participants will win a stamp set of their choice from the Verve Store. We've also hidden another $25 gift certificate somewhere along the parade for a random commenter. So if you like what you see, be sure and give a little shout out in the comments of each post! Have fun and good luck!

August Project Parade - Day 13

Happy Thursday, everyone! It's Mercy! I have been blown away by the gorgeous and creative projects the Divas have been cranking out these last few days...talk about some wonderful Hostess Happiness! For my project I wanted to focus on one of my true loves...writing. Each month I get together with a few of my "wanna be writer" friends to share poetry and/or short stories that we have written the month before. Here is the Writer's Hostess Gift Ensemble for next month's hostess:
I altered an old writer's journal, and covered it with cardstock. I added a lock for privacy, and decorated the cover using one of my favorite sets Enjoy for the focal image. The sentiment in the lower right corner of the journal is from Express Yourself.
My friend has never been to our county library, so I purchased a library card for the next year just for her. I wanted to put it in something cutesy, so I decided to make a gift card holder. I used the polka dots and sentiment from Bountiful Backgrounds, the flowers from Budding Blossoms, and the butterfly from Enjoy to create this trifold library card holder.
What girl doesn't love a little something sweet while she is in deep concentration?!? LOL! I created an acetate box filled with Werther's Original candies using the sentiment from Delightful & Delicious, and the same butterfly used in the other projects.
The hostess also gets to invite three of her personal friends to the next month's meeting, so I created some 3X3 invitations in the same color scheme using the sentiment from A Cup of Life. I added the same butterfly used in the other projects to the outside of the envelopes.
That's it for me today! I had such an amazing time creating my first official Project Parade projects and post! It still seems like a dream...I can't believe that I am a Diva! LOL! Julee...thanks for such an awesome opportunity!
Do you have a fabulous hostess gift idea? We would love to see it! To play along, just make a project or card that shows us your take on the Happiness for Hostesses theme. Verve Stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em we love to see 'em! Just add a link to your creation to the Mr. Linky form in DAY ONE's POST before 8PM Mountain September 12th. Two lucky participants will win a stamp set of their choice from the Verve Store. We've also hidden another $25 gift certificate somewhere along the parade for a random commenter. So if you like what you see, be sure and give a little shout out in the comments of each post!

A Tea Tray Gift set

Good Morning Everyone!!! Happy 9-9-09!

Today I am so excited to be part of the Verve Project Parade where the theme is Hostess Gifts! A HUGE thank you to Shannan Tuebner for all her help this morning with getting pictures up (you are a life saver and you totally ROCK chica!) For my project today, I decided to use one of my fave sets - I love the Cup of Life Verve stamp set and so created a little Tea Tray full little Tea Goodies. This tray has Tea Leaves in a little tin can ( I love tin cans!), tea cup with strainer for drinking tea at home, a travel mug French press for drinking tea on the go and a set of notecards (I was going to include some cookies - but I ate all of those! lol!) . Here is a picture of the Tea Tray Gift Set:

Photobucket

Here is a picture of the notecard set - it comes with 5 cards that say "Just for You" with a matching envelopes. I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch #103 for the card:

I also used a tag punch to create little tags for the French Press, cup and tea tin: It was so fun and easy and most of all made something very simple feel yummy :) Here are some pictures of the tags that I created:

The same tag goes for the cup. And lastly - one of my fave things to do is to take some unfinished wood and paint and stamp on it. After finishing - you just add a clear lacquer (I chose a gloss finish) and it protects the wood. Here is a picture of the tea tray - I painted it goosefeather, burnt umber and azul blue and then used the Bountiful backgounds polkadots, the sentiment from Delightful and Delicious and the teacups from a Cup of Life to create this little tray:

Project Details:
Ink: Adirondack Expresso, Versa Mark, Clear EP, Memento brilliance copper ink
Paper: Prisma cardstock, brown paper from stash
Stamps: Bountiful backgounds polkadots, the sentiment from Delightful and Delicious and the teacups from a Cup of Life
Accessories: unfinished wood tray and clear gloss lacquer, spellbinders, corner rounder, ribbon (offray), button from stash, Kaiser Blue rhinestones, EK success punch, tag punch from CM liquid pearls

A huge thank you to Julee for this amazing honor to be part of Verve! I am still pinching myself!!! I hope you have been enjoying all the lovely projects!!! And not to worry, there are more projects coming in the next days and we would love to see what amazing projects you are creating! To play along just make a project or card that shows us your take on the Happiness for Hostesses theme. Verve stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em, we would love to see 'em!! Just add a link to your creation to the Mr. Linky in Day One's POST before 9PM Mountain September 12th. Two lucky participants will win a stamp set of their choice from the Verve Store. We've also hidden another $25 gift certificate somewhere along the parade for a random commenter - so if you like what you see, be sure to give a little shout out in the comments of each post!!!

Have a wonderful, delightful and delicious day!

Big hugs!
Sankari :)

August Project Parade ~ Day 9

Hi everyone! It's Jackie here! Don't you love all of the projects the Diva's have showcased so far? I am amazed every month at the creativity!! Well, I decided to do a little something for my Mom's Group. This is my second time focusing on these very important women because they appreciate everything I make them! LOL! We meet twice a month for coffee and while we usually meet at Starbuck's, we have decided to meet at one house so we can be loud and crazy without anyone staring at us!

I thought bringing each of them a darling little bag like this would be perfect. They all love my Butterscotch Chip Cookies and packaging them in batches of two means no one eats too many! (My real motive is to keep as many as I can at home! LOL!)

I used the new Verve set, Delightful and Delicious. What a perfect set for coffee and cookies.....I stacked the three cups from the set in Dark Chocolate Ink from Papertrey and colored them in with Copic Markers. The image was cut out with Oval Nestabilities.

The sentiment is also from Delightful and Delicious. It was stamped in Pure Poppy ink (PTI) and cut out with the Ribbon Tag Trio by Spellbinders. I tied a small red bow with embroidery floss. The bag itself is a My Timeless Template from Papertrey, specifically the Pretty Petal Pocket. I added the cookies to a medium cello bag and tied it with Pure Poppy Twill Ribbon (PTI).

We would love for you to join us this month! To play along, just make a project or card that shows us your take on the Happiness for Hostesses theme. Verve Stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em we love to see 'em!

August Project Parade - Day 5

Happy Friday!! It's Tosh here, and I'm excited to share with you the idea I had for this month's project parade. Since the theme is Happiness for Hostesses, we were to come up with a gift idea for a hostess. Well, I have a dear friend who I'm visiting next week, and she's a coffeeaholic!!! Seriously. I won't say a name, but she lives in Montana and is quite the Verve Diva!! *grin*...guess she's seeing some of her gift early.
Anyway, I bought these fabulous Tin Buckets
quite awhile ago from a company called Wild Wings. They had little panels in the front already designed on them, so they were taylor-made for someone who likes to alter things!! Woot!! I used the Verve sets Delightful & Delicious, and Bountiful Backgrounds. I just stamped the images directly onto Happy Holidays dp (FancyPants) with Walnut Stain (Ranger Distress Ink). For the panels on the cans, I gave a bit more "texture" to the bg by stamping off the dots from the Bountiful Backgrounds set. Each panel is ink distressed with the Walnut Stain too.

For the card, I used Viva la Verve's Week 2 Sketch with the twist requiring us to use border punches. I used a EK Success scalloped border punch for the strip next to my cup, and added the "Fabulous" sentiment from the Bountiful Backgrounds set. I added some Candy Dots and ribbon for the final touch.

Now of course, the gift isn't just the cans. I had to fill them. Since Laurie (oops...did I say a name?) and I live 1000 miles apart, we can't get together for coffee as often as we'd like, so we're looking forward to just sitting in the kitchen with a good cup of java. The kitchen is the most used room in my house, so I thought some coffee themed kitchen hand towels, would fit fabulously rolled up in the larger can. For the smaller can, I added some YUMMY New Cappuccino Flavored Lindt Truffles. Not only are they delicious, but their packaging is so stylish.

The flowers on top were made with the Blossom Nestabilities die, buttons and Lace Ribbon.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing this project. We can't wait to see what you come up with! To play along, just make a project or card that shows us your take on the Happiness for Hostesses theme. Verve Stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em we love to see 'em!

August Project Parade - Day 4

Hi! It's Charmaine and it's my turn to show you what I came up with for the Happiness For Hostesses Project Parade!

I know so many people who would LOVE coffee as a gift. What a simple and relatively inexpensive way to say thank you! By relatively inexpensive I mean that it would depend on your coffee taste, I guess. LOL I've heard of some VERY expensive coffees! I used some Morning Brew made by the Pittsburgh Coffee Company. I'm not a die hard coffee drinker, but my husband is and this coffee makes us both happy! All I did for my gift was get a coffee mug that fit the bag of coffee and I made a set of cards to go into the package. I wrapped the whole thing up with cellophane and added a tag! Simple and sweet!

I used the Delightful and Delicious set from Verve along with my new Labels Seven Nestabilities. I also used the Just My Type Cuttlebug folder for the embossed squiggly line across the top of the card. The whole package didn't take much time to create at all. I think any hostess would love this simple gift!

We can't wait to see what you come up with for this month's Project Parade! To play along, just make a project or card that shows us your take on the Happiness for Hostesses theme. Verve Stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em we love to see 'em! Then just add a link to your creation to the Mr. Linky form on THIS POST before 8PM Mountain September 12. Two lucky participants will win a stamp set of their choice from the Verve Store. We've also hidden another $25 gift certificate somewhere along the parade for a random commenter. So if you like what you see, be sure and give a little shout out in the comments of each post! Have fun and good luck!

August Project Parade: Day TWO!

Hi, Verve Fans, it's Shannan here! I'm so excited to bring you my project for August's Project Parade. As Jen announced yesterday, this month's theme is HAPPINESS FOR HOSTESSES. I hate showing up anywhere with empty hands, so project ideas like this that are easy and simple is something I'm always after.

Today I decided to show you a little project for a chocolate lover. Now, I know you guys are wayyyy too health-conscious to eat chocolate *wink* but you never know when it might come in handy. I just emptied a jar of Cheese Whiz (ignore previous health reference) this week in a casserole, so I decided it would be perfect for a candy jar. The lid was red, and there's no changing that, so I added it to black, white, and kraft...one of my favorite combos.

I simply filled the jar with Hershey's Kisses, stamped a little tag using stamps from A Cup of Life for the top, and punched out a few circle shapes with my Marvy punches to decorate the lid. Black ribbon fit around the edge of the lid perfectly (to hide the array of foods Cheese Whiz should be used on). This gingham fabric was in my stash, so I tied it in a knot around the jar and added some twine just for fun.

The card measures 4 1/4" square, and I stamped the bottom half with the lined image from Bountiful Backgrounds in white pigment ink. I used tape to mask the word "coffee" from the sentiment from Delightful & Delicious, then stamped the rest of the sentiment in Real Red on white cardstock. Then I wrote the word "chocolate" with a black marker, cut it out, and adhered it to the circle to finish the sentiment. More gingham fabric is wrapped around the card base, then the scalloped circle & sentiment were mounted on top with dimensionals. The little flower was a last minute addition, but it just looked like it belonged there.

This was a really quick and easy project...one that will come in handy next time I go to a friend's house to stamp (or thank a girlfriend for watching my kiddos)! I think some more Cheese Whiz may be in order...*grin*

So....have you decided what fabulous hostess gift you'd like to create? We can't wait to see it! To play along, just make a project or card that shows us your take on the Happiness for Hostesses theme. Verve Stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em we love to see 'em! Then just add a link to your creation to the Mr.

Sneak Peek Preview - Day 4: Delightful and Delicious and A Cup of Life

Hi everyone, it's Michelle bringing you Day 4 of the Sneak Peeks and RELEASE DAY! Please join us at the Verve Release Party tonight 8pm Eastern time. Today Tosh, Amy, Sankari and I are sharing projects using Delightful and Delicious and A Cup of Life!

First up the lovely Diva Tosh:

I can't tell you how excited I am for this months Verve releases. They are all fabulous as you've seen already with the previous sneak peeks. Well, I have one more to show you and it's my favorite!! I love coffee and tea, and I love shabby and elegant. So when I saw these two sets, I was in love. Coffee and tea!! Woo-Hoo!!

I chose to make a 3 x 3 Notecard set of 4 with a matching box. The box template was designed by Andrea Walford. You can find the template HERE. I framed the images with a Rectangle Nestabilities die, and used a very favorite paper of mine; Periphery (Basicgrey), matted with Birchtone Light and Dark (Prismatics). I also added some Spring Rain Twill (PTI), SU! Buttons, and stitching. All the edges were ink distressed with Frayed Burlap (Ranger Distress) and my trusty fingernail. *grin*

From the fabulous Diva Amy:

I've been secretly hoping for Verve-style coffee and tea sets, so I'm thrilled to see both A Cup of Life and Delightful & Delicious as part of this month's release. The images in these sets are such a delightful blend (no pun intended) of whimsy and elegance. I love my new photopolymer coffee and tea almost as much as my real-life drinkable versions, and that's saying something!

For my peek project, I've used A Cup of Life to make a gift set that includes a tea box and matching card. I used a box I had on hand as a template, which ended up being more or less a modified 2-5-7-10 box. For the matching card, I created a large tea cup using Spellbinders dies (a large circle cut in half for the cup, the very tip of a Labels 4 for the pedestal, and a flourish die for the handle). The tea bag tag and the steam are done with images from A Cup of Life. Hope you're enjoying our week of Anni-VERVE-sary fun and the peeks at all these wonderful new sets. Hope to see you at the release party tonight!

From the amazing Guest Diva Sankari:

Hi Everyone!! I am so excited to be part of this fantabulous release!!! I literally jumped up and down and clapped my hands in delight when Julee asked me to if I wanted to be a guest designer for this month's release!!! And as soon as I saw all of these stamps - one word: THUD!!! WOWie!!! They are each gorgeous! I have to say that my heart did a little pitter patter as soon as I saw the A Cup of Life/Delightful & Delicious sets - my head was just swimming in possibilities!

I wanted to make something fun and happy so I created a little scallop border with the different color teacups and a "bright copper kettle" :) on the side. The tea pot is stamped on a sheet of copper with some Stazon black and then popped up on dimensionals. It was so much fun to create this little card and I can't wait to create more with these delicious sets - there are so many possiblites for every occaision! I am so glad that Julee has created this set because it is simply the cutest teapot/cup stamps with the most delicious sayings and sentiments that can be so easily interchanged with each other. I love how Julee creates stamp sets that all work together and separately.

Its been an absolute joy to be a part of this wonderful release!! A huge heartfelt thank you to Julee and the Diva-licious Verve DT for this lovely chance to be with such lovely artistes!!!

And from me, Diva Michelle:

It's no secret that I love coffee and coffee sets! I about fell out of my chair when I saw the amazing coffee and tea sets Julee designed! Seriously, they have a bit of everything -great sentiments, cups, teapots and various steam/swirl images. Sheer perfection I tell ya.

I used the Delightful and Delicious set for this card. I kept this one pretty simple and allowed the sentiment, gorgeous cups and ribbon do all the work! The steam is stamped in VersaMark for a subtle effect. The dreamy green striped May Arts ribbon with a large purple button really help show off the stripes in the cups.

Don't forget about all the Diva Giveaways going on in the Verve Forums on SCS there's lots of chances to win Verve prizes! There is STILL time!!

AND, one lucky commenter today will be put in a drawing to win more Verve Goodies! So be sure to tell us what you like about today's sets before 6pm Eastern to qualify! All the winners will be announced during our release party tonight! Thanks for stopping by and we'll see you there!
