June 2015 New Release Blog Hop Day 2

For my card today, I paired one of the border stamps from Deco Borders with the previous released Strong Anchor set to make a beachcomber style Father's Day card.  I stamped the border twice in night of navy, then twice in pacific point and finally twice in marina mist and then sponged over them with the coordinating color of Stampin' Pastels.  I used a little glue and a heat gun to splatter some shabby white embossing enamel at the bottom of the panel to look like a big splash of sand and surf.

I braided a length of rope trim to adhere under the sentiment, then stamped the rope circle from Strong Anchor in cherry cobbler and the father's day wishes from the same set in Pacific Point.  This is cut out with spellbinders and matted with white.  Then I distressed the edges and was finished!

Today's spotlight is shining on the Deco Borders set illustrated by Chaitali Narla. She had another BIG release last week with the birth of a new baby girl, so was unable to hop along with us today.  It's been great fun working with her (she's the NICEST person on the planet!)  and having her illustrate for Verve this past year.  But sadly this is her last release with Verve.  We wish her much success in motherhood and in all of her future creative endeavors! Thanks so much Chaitali!

I am so happy Julee gave me the opportunity to join Verve as an illustrator this year. I've loved the chance to make my designs into stamps and even more, I loved all the wonderful creations everyone shared with the stamps!

So for my episode of this month's Diva Dare I decided to showcase some cards that were created with my sets because they really are my favorite Verve creations! None of these are made by me but I found them when lurking on the Verve Pinterest boards and I was so impressed by them! Also honored that they used my sets!!

Lets start the mini-parade, shall we? :)

Card 1 is Laurie Schmidlin's card using the Cupcakes set. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to copy her effortless layered style in secret! This one is a stunner!

Card 2 is Stacey Schafer's card using the Moments Remembered set. Love how she uses ribbons so beautifully on her cards. And the peacock feathers are so beautifully fussy cut!

Card 3 is Julee Tilman's card using the Pink Power set. Julee has a beautiful style that I liked to think of as layered CAS. Love this card that shows strength and softness so well!

November Diva Dare - Day 9

Hey everyone!

Welcome to Day 9 of the November Diva Dare! Chaitali here today for the Diva Dare.

This month's dare is entitled Vellum Visions.  Soft and classy, vellum always makes a big impression.  So, this month, we are daring you to add some vellum to your card or project. 

Here is my card with a vellum panel and an embossed gold sentiment!

I still had all the sets from the recent release on my craft table and ofcourse I'm on a Christmas cardmaking spree. So I used a stamp from each of the 3 new November sets. The sentiment is from Weary World, the poinsettia from Pinecone Christmas and the candles image from Light My World. I colored the poinsettia and candles with Copics then fussy cut them out. Fussy cutting is so relaxing! I missed it for the longest time! So glad I got to try it out on this card :) The sequins are from the recently released holiday sequin mix.

Oh and if you are curious about the photo, you should drop by my blog tomorrow! I will be showing off my new photography setup then!

October 2014 Diva Dare - Day 6

Hey everyone!

Chaitali here for today's Diva Dare post! This month's dare is entitled Pink Power in honor of October being breast cancer awareness month.

This is a cause very dear to me ofcourse since my mom was diagnosed with it earlier this year. (I hope you checked out the stamp set I illustrated for her!)

However, today I wanted to celebrate the power of pink in another way. My mom recently had her surgery and is recovering well from it! So I have a Congrats card for her!! Here is my card...

This is based on the recent VLV sketch and inspiration pic. I used Peaceful Medallions and Die Sidekicks sets on this one. The enamel dots are home-made (learn more about that here!) :)

Hey folks! Chaitali here with Day 3 of the September Diva Dare! ITs Terrific Trios this time so we have to use 3 of something on our card.

Here is my card...

I used the Verve Teachers Count stamp set for the card and paired it up with some pretty patterned paper. Colored the apple with some copics and finished with a great sentiment from the set.

I have 2 Terrific Trios on my card today - the 3 little hearts below the sentiment and 3 loops in my bow.

Celebrate Good Times - August Diva Dare

Welcome to August's Diva Dare! Chaitali here with my take on this month's dare entitled Celebrate Good Times.     

Verve is turning 7 this month and we’d love to see your celebration cards.  Think wedding, birthday, anniversary… anything that brings the confetti out!

This is the first of many days (yup there is more coming this month!) of celebrating Anni-Verve-sary for me! I felt it was appropriate that I use a bunch of stamps to create a collage of happy sentiments. Each of the sentiments here comes from a different Verve set. Lets start counting shall we?

"Have a happy day" from Be Blessed; "Celebrate" from Moments Remembered; "Love" from Text Objects; "Enjoy" from Learning to Sail; "Smile" from Happy Place and "Celebrate Today" from one mystery unreleased set ;)

I kept the background simple with some patterned paper from my stash and let the sentiments collage be the focal point of the card. I couldn't resist adding some white embossed flowers colored in distress inks. I followed Jennifer McGuire's tutorial to color the flowers quickly and fussy cut them to get a crisp white outline. The flower stamps are from Be Blessed and Happy Place sets.

Hey everyone! Chaitali here with Day 3 of the July Diva Dare!

Inside Out - July Diva Dare

This month we're daring you to create a stamped card and continue the design on the inside for a special surprise for the recipient.  Simply carry over some portion of the card front design on to the inside of your card. 

Here is my card! First the outside...

I kept this very clean, simple and elegant using the newly released Moments Remembered set. The background is an embossing folder that I inked with distress inks before running through my Cuttlebug.

This set has some beautiful sentiments perfect for the inside of a card. I carried over the color scheme on the inside with other stamps from this set and distress inks and also added a sentiment from the set. Here is the inside of the card...

If you are wondering what occasion the card is for, its for a friend's engagement! :) And the ear-rings and bracelet are a gift!! I can't wait to package all this up for a beautiful gift to her!

June 2014 Diva Dare - Day 11

Hey everyone! Chaitali here with day 11 of this month's Diva Dare! This month it's all about the men!

 This month we're daring you to create a stamped card or project with a masculine theme. 

Here is my card!

The men in my life (my husband, my dad) appreciate bright and cheery cards so even with masculine cards, I try and keep the overall look of the card light and bright.

For this one I found this excellent pin on Pinterest and CASEd the layout but added my own touch. For the 4 small panels on the card front I use Jennifer McGuire's emboss-and-ink technique.

The sentiment is from Verve Wonderful Marvelous set but I constructed it by selectively inking parts of 2 different stamps in the set. On my blog today, I have a tutorial for 2 different techniques to selectively ink a stamp.

May 2014 Diva Dare - Day 12

Hi everyone! It's Chaitali here with my very first Diva Dare ever!  In honor of the newest release, this month's Dare is entitled "Petals and Wings".    

What we're daring you to do this month is create a card with both a flower and a butterfly on it.

Now I had a situation here. I don't have a single Verve butterfly stamp! Not one! How did that happen?! Don't ask me! But I assure you the situation is under control and some butterfly stamps have been ordered!

For this card I pulled out On Occasion (can you tell its my favorite?!) and had to improvise a bit for the butterfly! Here is my card...

I started with white cardstock and sprayed it with water generously then went over it with a brush to be sure it was evenly wet. Then I smooshed down my distress inkpads on it, Frayed Burlap on the left and Stormy Sky on the right. Since the paper was very wet, it spread nicely. I blended in the middle with a brush. Dried it all off with a heat gun because I'm too impatient :)

The frame, sentiment and flower are all from the On Occasion set. The flower is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics then cut out. Covered it with some diamond stickles in the middle.

The butterfly I cut on my Silhouette Cameo on white cardstock. Then colored it with copics and outlined it with a black sharpie. The swirly pattern is from On Occasion. Some diamond stickles to add glitter and you have a butterfly ready!
