"Perk Up", February Diva Dare

Howdy everyone! It's Jen here with day 10 of the February Diva Dare. This month's challenge is entitled "Perk Up".     

What we're daring you to do this month is make a card or project to perk someone up, whether it’s with a warm beverage or just a heartfelt sentiment to brighten someone’s day.  No shortage of options as Verve has some wonderful coffee and tea sets as well as a multitude of uplifting/heartfelt sentiments. 

I started out with a very different card and then scrapped it for something much brighter and cheerier. I have been making a big effort to send out or deliver the cards that I make and I wanted to make this card for a colleague of mine who has recently made all the difference in how much I look forward to going to work. It's so nice to have a colleague that is not only inspiring to work with but genuinely a wonderful person that you want to be friends with so I made this card for her. :)

My card uses Brighter Days - such a gorgeous stamp set for this kind of card, I think. I pulled out an older paper pad from Pebbles that I just adore but I believe its now out of print. I also went back to my traditional inclusion of kraft and twine. :) The ribbon I used is from the Truly Madly Deeply Ribbon Collection and gives just the right pop of red to the card. :)

February 2014 Diva Dare - Day 6

"Perk Up" - February Diva Dare

Welcome to Day 6 of February's Diva Dare!  This month's Dare is entitled "Perk Up."    

What we're daring you to do this month is make a card or project to perk someone up, whether it’s with a warm beverage or just a heartfelt sentiment to brighten someone’s day.  No shortage of options as Verve has some wonderful coffee and tea sets as well as a plethora of uplifting/heartfelt sentiments.

For my card, I well all-out with the sunshine and blossoms!  Verve's Brighter Days set is so full of "Perk Up" sentiments that I had some trouble choosing one.  Once I settled on my sentiment, I used the beautiful blossoms from the set with their coordinating Scalloped Flowers dies and some Prismacolor Pencils in order to bring them to life.  The Dreamy Leaves, Arrow, Banner Bundle, and Scalloped Trim Trio dies were also put to use for this project, adding layers, life and embellishment.  Once all the layers were in place, I sprinkled the card with a few Pastel Sequins and, as usual, I just couldn't resist a giant seam binding bow using the Truly Madly Deeply Ribbon Collection.

August Diva Dare - Day 6

Pile On the Sweetness, August Diva Dare

Hello there! Jen here bringing you day four of this month's Diva Dare! I am so excited about this month's challenge! It's super fun and I had a TON of fun creating my card. :)

This month's dare pays tribute to Diva Andrea (Ewen Style), and Diva Christyne (Stampin' with Sugar).  Both Divas are known for the wonderful way they can add layer upon layer on a card.  So what we're daring you to create this month is a card using lots of layers.   

If you want to kick this month's dare up a notch, you can add a flower cluster as per Diva Andrea, or go with a "sweet" theme as per Diva Christyne's blog name "Stamping with Sugar".  These are not required elements, but fun options should you wish to use them.  Just remember to use at least one Verve product on your creation! 

Here's my card:

 

It didn't take me long to figure out where this card was going to go. Andrea has such a wonderful talent for shabby detailed cards and Christyne's wonderful layers and bright colors brought me to this merging of the two styles. I mixed up Andrea's more muted color palette with a few brighter colors, both ladies have a knack for distressed edges and that's right up my alley so I added that in there. The kraft cardstock and the twine - well that's just me, lol. I hope I did them both justice!! 

Now for the Verve goodies that I used. The stamps set is Brighter Days. I accented it with a flower made from the smallest flower in the Goodness Flowers Die Set which is layered on a bit of twine thread, Signature Ribbon Collection grey seambinding and two flags from the Flag It Die Set.

I used the Mojo Monday #306 sketch for my card.
