Welcome to November's Diva Dare!  Christyne here, bringing you some more inspiration for this month's Diva Dare: Vellum Visions!  Soft and classy...vellum always makes a big impression!  So, this month we are daring you to add some vellum to your card or project.

My card for you today, answering this awesome challenge, uses a soft palette with vellum mats.  I like using vellum mats when I want a more subtle contrast or border than traditional paper mats would provide.  I paired this dare with today's fresh VLV inspiration and sketch challenges.  These challenges inspired me to use the Tall Oaks stamp set to create a soft fall-themed card to pair with my vellum.  I also used the Autumn Elements ribbon collection and the Shine Bright sequin mix to embellish my card.

October 2014 Diva Dare - Day 9

  Pink Power- October Diva Dare

Welcome to October's Diva Dare!  Jen here with my take on this month's Diva Dare, entitled Pink Power, in honor of October being breast cancer awareness month. 

For my card I started with a dark gray cardbase and layered it with pink polka dot paper from Doodlebugs Kraft In Color paper pad. Over that I layered a bit of dark gray houndstooth paper from the same paper pad. I then stamped the sentiment on a banner cut using the Banner Bundle Die Set and matted it with a larger die from the same set. Behind that I cut two small flags and put one on either side using the Flag It Die Set. I used the Pink Power stamp set to stamp the sentiment and the butterfly. To finish everything off I added a few rhinestones to the butterfly and a bit of stitching over the gray patterned paper.

Celebrate Good Times - August Diva Dare

Welcome to August's Diva Dare! Jen here with my take on this month's dare entitled Celebrate Good Times.     

Verve is turning 7 this month and we’d love to see your celebration cards.  Think wedding, birthday, anniversary… anything that brings the confetti out!

Today I'm sharing a clean and simple birthday card I made for a friend of my daughter. She LOVES bright fun colors so I went with white, lime green and bright pink. I started with a white A2 card base and then layered it with another white piece of card stock embossed with dots. I used a scalloped border punch to create the three little scallops and added three sequins to the top. I stamped Birthday To You Plain Jane on top in bright pink and die cut it with a large die from the Banner Bundle Die Set.

July 2014 Diva Dare - Day 9

Inside Out - July Diva Dare

Welcome to July's Diva Dare!  It's Andrea with you today on this 9th day of fabulous inspiration from the Divas! This month's dare is entitled Inside Out.    

This month we're daring you to create a stamped card and continue the design on the inside for a special surprise for the recipient.  Simply carry over some portion of the card front design on to the inside of your card.   I'm ashamed to say that I very rarely decorate the inside of my card (though I do stamp the envelope!) so this challenge was a good excuse for me to practice! Here's my attempt at coordinating the inside (P.S. Don't close the card until your liquid pearls are dry...don't ask me how I know :)

I'm loving these new Verve floral stamps, designed by Julee. I stamped the flowers from Verve's Happy Place set onto a piece of Natural White cardstock and cut out the shape with the coordinating Happy Doodles die set. I colored in the image using Copics. I added some Raspberry Liquid Pearls to the tops of the flowers and also to the butterfly stamped on the inside of the card. I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch for my design. All edges are distressed and I added a variety of lace, Organdy and daisy chain ribbon as well as twine to the top. The banners are cut out with Verve's Banner Bundle set.

June 2014 Diva Dare - Day 10

Howdy! Jen here with day 9 of this month's Diva Dare! This month it's all about the men!

 This month we're daring you to create a stamped card or project with a masculine theme. 

When it comes to masculine I always find that clean and simple seem to work well for me (and I know it's the kind of card my husband likes so it's win-win)! I started with choosing a color scheme. To do that I just started grabbing cardstock and laying them out on my desk until I found a palette of colors that I liked. Next I went about embossing different pieces and getting a layout sorted out. I wanted to go with the Wonderful Marvelous stamp set because I just LOVE how whimsical it is.  To finish off I dug through my supply of epoxy dots and mixed and matched until I found matching colors to my color scheme. This really went together very fast and I love how it came out!

May 2014 Diva Dare ~ Day 10

Hi friends, Laurie here sharing my take on this month's Diva Dare!  In honor of the newest release, this month's Dare is entitled "Petals and Wings".    

What we're daring you to do this month is create a card with both a flower and a butterfly on it.

Here's how I answered the dare...

I started by cutting some banners (using the Banner Bundle Die Set) out of patterned paper.  I chose my patterned paper to be the petals part of the challenge.  For the wings part, I embossed and die cut the butterfly form the Die Sidekicks set (using the previously released All Aflutter Die Set).  The sentiment is from the Petals & Wings set.  For embellishment, I added some super sparkly sequins from the Shine Bright Sequin Mix.

"Little Things" - April Diva Dare

Morning Verve friends...it's Andrea here with you today and I want to welcome you to April's Diva Dare!  In honor of Spring's arrival this month's Dare is entitled "Little Things".  

What we're daring you to do this month is to create a baby or kids themed card. I decided that this cute little monkey from the 'To the Moon' set would pair up perfectly with some 'Wander' paper to make a darling little baby boy card:

I stamped the sweet little monkey and colored him in with Prismacolor pencils. The sentiment is stamped on a Mini Bookplate die and matted on it's coordinating shape. The banners are made with A Cut Above dies Banner Bundles die set.  I added the Pennant Trim die down the vertical edge of the striped paper panel. I accented with lots of Liquid Pearls, a button, twine and a metal edge tag. And I added a little hand stitching, as well.

To answer this month's Diva Dare, I just had to pull out my favorite Emery stamp!  I just love him done up in all pastels, so I went super sweetly-themed for my card.  I combined many of my favorite Verve elements with the To the Moon stamp set, including the Banner Bundle die set, the Scalloped Trim Trio die, and the Pastel Sequins mix.  These elements were just perfect with this week's Mojo Monday sketch (#341) so I couldn't resist pairing the two.

"Little Things" - April Diva Dare

Welcome to April's Diva Dare!  In honor of Spring's arrival (in some parts of North America anyway!), this month's Dare is entitled "Little Things".    The challenge is to create a baby or kid themed card, how fun!

I wanted to make a super girly card so I pulled out pinks, aquas, greens, and yellows and went to town on this card! I pulled out my old trusty favorite, Bloom and Grow and stamped the different flowers and leaf images on the cream card base.

Next, I stamped the sentiments from Practically Perfect on a circle die cut. The layout is loosely based on this week's Viva la Verve sketch, just on a smaller scale:)

The scallops on the right side is one of the borders from Scalloped Trim Trio, and the banners were all cut out with the Banner Bundle die collection

March 2014 Diva Dare - Day 8

"Do The Polka", March Diva Dare

Hello Verve Fans!! Christyne here bringing you some inspiration for Day 8 of the March challenge, "Do The Polka".  

 
What we're daring you to do this month is to use polka dots somewhere on your card. Whether you choose to strut your polka dot stamps, paper, ribbon or all of the above, we want to see you do the polka! 

 To answer this month's dare, I went a little polka-wild.  I found a bunch of polka dot papers and paired them with Verve's new Better Together stamp sent since it has that awesome dot background stamp and chevron accents.  I combined all of my dots with this week's Mojo Monday sketch (#337), using the Banner Bundle die set to cut out the main panel.  I accented this panel with some DP stars cut with the Starry Die.  Because all of these polka dots just weren't enough for this card, I added a big pop of ribbon from the Red, White, and Beautiful Ribbon Collection.  There you have it...polka-crazy!!
