 Favorite Things - December Diva Dare

This month we are daring you to share your favorite Verve creations for this year OR create a new one with one of your FAVORITE Verve products!

My favorite stamp set of the year is Happy Place and a couple of my favorite cards have come from using this stamp set!

Here's one I created for the release, I love the bright colors and fun artsy look I got from my Dylusions inks!

The sentiment is from 2 Corinthians 12:9 PJ!

Here's another fun one with a clear card base and Happy Place! I also used another favorite, from the same release, Peaceful Medallions!

This one uses Happy Place and Moments Remembered...

And this one I made just for today! 

I watercolored the background with my Peerless Watercolors and then just stamped the images and sentiments from Happy Place! Such a simple, fun card!

November Diva Dare - Day 5

Vellum Visions - November Diva Dare

Welcome to November's Diva Dare!  It's Amber bringing you Day 5!  This month's dare is entitled Vellum Visions.  Soft and classy, vellum always makes a big impression.  So, this month, we are daring you to add some vellum to your card or project. 

There is nothing like vellum for adding a soft touch to your card! I just love white embossing on vellum, such a gorgeous look, so I decided to stamp these beautiful poinsettia's from Joyous Noel and emboss them in white on vellum. I cut them out by hand, and then stamped the single layer and embossed it, cut it out, and layered it on top of the poinsettias. The beautiful snowflakes are from Unto Us, and of course I had to use the amazing Shine Bright sequins!

September 2014 Diva Dare ~ Day 12

Hello there! Hope your weekend is amazing so far, I know mine is! It's been about 70 degrees and sunny, so amazing! I'm here today with Day 12 of this month's Diva Dare.  This month is all about threes!  Back to school time usually means life is a 3 ring circus, so this month we're daring you to add 3 of something to your card or project. 

I pulled out the Small Packages stamp set for my card and made 3 big ole beautiful cupcakes! First, I pulled out my Tombow markers and swiped some green, pink, and blue ink on watercolor paper. Then I blended the colors out with a wet paintbrush. I heat embossed the three large cupcakes in black on watercolor paper and then colored them with the watercolor markers. The sentiment is from Moments Remembered.

August 2014 Diva Dare - Day 10

Hello, Friends! Amber here! Long time no blog:) Just getting settled in to my new home here in Washington and have had a little trouble tracking down my mojo. Have you seen it? It's still missing so if you see it, please send it back home, ha!

So this month, our Diva Dare is to Celebrate Good Times! 

Verve is turning 7 this month and we’d love to see your celebration cards.  Think wedding, birthday, anniversary… anything that brings the confetti out!

For my card, I pulled out my Peaceful Medallions and Poppy Birthday sets. I got some new Impress Fresh Inks this week in coral and mint, so I knew that's what color combo I wanted to go with. I stamped the largest medallion in coral ink and then a smaller medallion in mint. The three gold medallions are gold embossed, and then the smallest medallions are again stamped in coral Fresh Ink. I scattered some sequins randomly. The orange sequins are from a multi pack I got at Michaels, and the gorgeous shiny sequins are from the Shine Bright collection from Verve. The scalloped frame is the Rounded Scallop Frame. 

My card is loosely based on this week's new Viva la Verve sketch! Pop on over to the VLV Sketch Blog to play along with the sketch.

The sentiment is from Poppy Birthday. Well that's all I have to share today, hope you can get inky today and play along!

July 2014 Diva Dare ~ Day 8

Hello there, lovelies! Amber here with Day 8 of the Diva Dare challenge...hope your week is going well so far, half way to the weekend, WOOP WOOP!

Inside Out - July Diva Dare

This month we're daring you to create a stamped card and continue the design on the inside for a special surprise for the recipient.  

**Simply carry over some portion of the card front design on to the inside of your card. **

I wanted to do something a little different with my card, and let you SEE the inside FROM the outside! 

I got a piece of clear cardstock and created the card base, and then found the patterned paper that I wanted to put on the inside. The papers are from BG's Grand Bazaar (I love this paper!). Next, I cut the turquouise frame and glued it on to the card front, and sewed the corner. I pulled out my beloved Peaceful Medallions stamp set. I cut several of a few different sized circles and then stamped some fun medallions. The big one in the back is embossed in gold, super shiny IRL! The flower is from Happy Place and cut out with one of the dies from Happy Doodles. The sentiment is from Happy Place, and was stamped on a banner cut out with the Scroll die. I used the coordinating scroll stamp from Die Sidekicks for that banner. Here are a couple detail shots...

June 2014 Diva Dare - Day 9

Hi there! Amber here to welcome you to Day 9 of our June Diva Dare! This month, we're all about the boys!

 This month we're daring you to create a stamped card or project with a masculine theme. 

Instead of going for a straight up "man" card, I decided to make a birthday card for a LITTLE man!

I obviously had way too much fun with the spray mist on this card, haha! First step was to emboss the gears from Geared Up in white embossing powder on a piece of Tim Holtz's amazing watercolor paper. After that, I started dripping and splashing some Dylusions inks in blue, turquoise, and a deep blue. To achieve the layers, I dripped ink, then blotted, dripped more ink, then blotted, dripped some water on to pick up colors in some areas, and then dripped some more and hit it with a heat gun to  keep some intense colors as well as the washed out colors. 

The cute little robot is also from Geared Up. The balloons and sentiment are from Chevron Love, and the banner is from Wonderful Marvelous. I embossed the robot and the banner in white embossing powder on vellum paper so I didn't cover up too much of that fun background. For the sentiment, I did some out of the box trimming so my balloons are still attached to the sentiment panel. For one last detail, I added some Metal Mix sequins.

May 2014 Diva Dare ~ Day 4

Hello there! Amber here to welcome you to Day 4 of this month's Diva Dare. Have you been inspired to create with butterflies and flowers yet? I'm sure you have;)

The May Diva Dare is "Petals and Wings"

What we're daring you to do this month is create a card with both a flower anda butterfly on it. 

I have a picture heavy post for you today as I decided last minute (this morning) to include a quick little tutorial! First up, here is my card using the newly released Die Sidekicks and Petals and Wings

I created the background with Gelatos and a baby wipe (scroll down for tutorial!). After I made the background, I stamped some flowers from Petals and Wings in Versamark and then embossed them with clear embossing powder. I cut the butterflies out with the All Aflutter dies out of another piece of watercolor paper I colored with some orange and pink Gelatos. I then stamped the coordinating butterflies from Die Sidekicks in black ink and popped them up on dimensionals. I added some of the newly released Shine Bright sequin mix and a trail of glitter behind the butterflies and added the sentiment from Petals and Wings on the bottom.

Okay, this may not be a new technique to you, but I've just recently found it and thought I'd share for those of you who never knew! I just bet you have the supplies to do this, too;)

Step one, gather your supplies. You'll need watercolor paper (it may work on regular cardstock, haven't tried it though?), Gelatos, and some baby wipes.

Step Two, scribble the Gelatos on your cardstock in whatever pattern or random sequence you choose! It won't look pretty, and may look like your 1st grader colored it, but don't worry...we'll fix that;)

Step Three, get out a clean baby wipe and start gently rubbing and blending the colors. My tip, start at the lightest color and work your way down so you don't blend the dark color all over your light color. In fact, you may want a new baby wipe for each color...

Wasn't that easy? And so pretty! Tons of different things you could do with this technique. How about emboss resist? Sure!
