I was browsing the web looking for material useful in the fine art of blogging..Looking for Comics , Posters , Art and general whatnot. Then I spotted this totally MEAN looking CONAN custom action figure over at http://www.joecustoms.com/. People buy other action figures and sculpting clay/putty and paint and rip them apart and Frankenstein job them into NEW action figures. One of a kind and unique action heroes to wile away your day and have a little adventure of your own.

Custom Conan Heroclix: Temple of the Serpent Edition!
I was going through my Conan folder (oh, like you don't have one) and I came across these shots of this badass little custom Conan Heroclix game figure that I spotted on eBay ages ago. I love how this is the war-painted Conan from the first movie's Temple of the Serpent scene.

Been a While, eh? How About This Kick Ass Conan Custom Action Figure to Make it Up to Ya? ;)
So, yeah, I haven't posted in a long time, but that's how it goes for me in the world of Conan fandom. But I'm coming back and have some cool stuff to post and I thought I'd dip my toe back in by posting some pics of this killer Conan custom action figure that I stumbled upon on eBay.
I didn't bid on it (it was a little too rich for my blood), but the next best thing to owning it, is to swipe the pics and post them on my blog!
Enjoy... (click the pics for full size)
This badass custom comes with some sweet barbaric gear! And I especially love that shield. Basically, this all adds up to the heartwarming fact that Conan fans are still going strong out there, making killer Conan stuff and keeping the torch alive. I imagine that this will only increase as we get closer to the release of the movie.
More Conan stuff to follow!

Conan Custom Minimates!
For you toy collectors out there, you should be no stranger to those little blocky figures known as Minimates. They're sort of a hybrid between LEGO minifigs and Playmobil figures, and they come in the form of all sorts of famous comic book characters such as Spider-man, Batman, etc.
Well, I came across this Minimate somewhere (cannot remember where, for the life of me... sorry!) and I got seven kinds of excited thinking it was a Conan Minimate! But it's not. I think it's supposed to be Turok, or Tarzan or some such barbaric Conan wannabe. Oh well. Pretty close...

Anyway, it got me thinking and off I went, searching the interwebs for any sign of custom Conan Minimates, and lo and behold, I found myself perusing a web forum called Minimate Multiverse which led me to this interesting digital template for a Conan Minimate figure...

As many of you may already know, I occasionally go through the custom action figure archives of Figure Realm and get all geeky over the custom Conan action figures. then I cherry pick a few and show them off here. Well, it's that time again! Check out these one-of-a-kind sons of Cimmeria!

Custom Red Sonja Mego Figure!
My fellow blogger homie, Calvin, from Calvin's Canadian Cave of Coolness posted a slew of custom Mego action figures and the one that totally caught my eye was this brilliant (and quite busty) Red Sonja figure, clearly designed after the classic Marvel Comics representation of the character.
Hmmm... this is starting to turn into Red Sonja week here on the blog! I'm sure you readers don't mind. ;)

If you're unfamiliar with Mego action figures, here's a shot of my very own original Conan Mego that was a birthday gift from my good homie and CROM! commenter, Acorndog!
*UPDATE*
CROM! reader, Kal, was cool enough to send me a link to more pics of this awesome Red Sonja custom by Jason Roberts! Thanks Kal, and mad props to Jason!

Custom Action Figure: What if Conan was a Member of JLU?
Here's a sweet JLU-inspired custom figure of Conan from a customizer that goes by "Shazam". I love this figure! I'm seriously tempted to plunk down the $20 for it. Awesome!
I would seriously love to see a new Conan animated series done in this style. As long as it was hardcore, maybe shown on Adult Swim or something? Well, I can dream...

Custom Conan Heroclix Figure!
I've never played Heroclix, but I gather that it's very similar to other miniature battle games like Heroscape and whatnot, but I've known quite a few people that were crazy into it (I had one friend years ago that used to go around the country winning tournaments) and so it doesn't surprise me to see people out there are starting to make their own custom Heroclix figures. This figure that I found on eBay (which has since sold) could very well answer the eternal question "If Conan fought [insert superhero's name here], who would win?"
I'm betting on the barbarian. ;)

My New Custom Conan Action Figure is Here!
Know, O Prince, that between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, and the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an age undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars-Nemedia, Ophir, Brythunia, Hyperborea, Zamora with its dark-haired women and towers of spider-haunted mystery, Zingara with itl chivalry, Koth that borderd the pastoral lands of Shem, Styfia with its shadow-guarded tombs, Hykania whos riders wore steel and silk and gold. But the proudest kingdom in the world was Aquilonia, reigning supreme in the dreaming west. Hither came Conan the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a theif, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandaled feet.

- The Nemedian Chronicles
Well, my much talked about (by me, anyway) custom Conan action figure is finally in my possession and I am simply shocked at it's sheer awesomeness! Now, you've all heard me talk up my friend Todd's incredible customizing skills, but I just have to reiterate the surprising amount of detail and cleverness that was put into this figure. I don't understand why some toy company doesn't hire him to sculpt and paint prototype figures or something! With his talent, he should be raking in the moola.
So, Saturday night, I braved the howling snowstorm that has gripped Seattle for the past five days and swung by his place for a couple of drinks and some brutal rounds on Soul Calibur IV. But first we had the unveiling and after seeing it I was simply speechless! I mean, we all saw the sneak peeks, but they didn't show all the final touches that he put into the figure.
You know what, I need to shut up for a second and just let you all take a look...

Look at that crazy Cimmerian badass! He's clearly just spent a lovely afternoon of force-feeding his enemies and endless supply sharpened steel! I just love all the blood and grime of the battlefield that contrast so sharply with his ice-blue Cimmerian eyes. Let's look at some closer details...

Just look at the little details like the wristband above. Todd has such a detailed imagination that this figure is brimming with little touches like that!

I sthat human brain on his boots?

And how can you be a barbarian if you're not bristling with weapons! This figure came with two swords, a hand-axe and a dagger. The main sword is actually made of stainless steel, found at a local knife-and-sword shop. But that wasn't good enough for Todd, he even had to customize that by adding these beautiful gemstones to the pommel...

So I guess you all can tell that I'm pee-my-pants thrilled with my one-of-a-kind Conan figure. I have it up on a shelf were his total 13 inches towers over my other action figure!

So, seriously, huge thank you's and mad friggin props go to my homeboy Todd for putting so much time, effort, money and care into this very special piece of art that will forever be prized by me. To know that I now own something this cool and original, no one else in the entire world will have something like this, really means the world to me.
Thanks, Todd! You muthafuggin ROCK!
