Mixed Media Monday - Guest Brand Ambassador Sally Holmes

Happy Monday & Shiny New Week!

Today I am back with another Mixed Media Monday and I am delighted to have our guest Sally Holmes joining us again. If you missed Sally's first projects, be sure to hop on over HERE.

Sally

Hello Everyone, today I have a couple of mixed media projects to share with you using Uniko's Background Builders: Seeing Stars and Reach For the Stars clear stamp sets and Stencil Wonky Stripes.

Journal page

For the background I used distress oxide sprays in Wild Honey, Peacock Feathers and Wilted Violet. I used the same colours in oxide inks for stencilling down each edge of the page. I used the same inks and some Versafine Clair Twilight ink to stamp the stars and borders. I stamped the words and three more stars onto snippets of black card and embossed with fine detail white embossing powder and gold embossing powder. I stuck these on with matte medium. Finally, I splattered a small amount of water and a little of each spray across the whole page.

Card

For the background I sprayed a piece of mixed media paper (180gsm) with Distress oxide sprays in Peacock Feathers and Brushed corduroy. When this was dry, I stamped the star strings in Versafine Clair Acorn.

I mixed about a teaspoonful of Pretty Gets Gritty Clear Get Crackled gel with a few shakes of Mars Pretty Gets Gritty explosion powder. I applied it with a palette knife through the stencil and left it to dry.

I stamped and embossed the sentiment into the space and the star onto a scrap of card sprayed with the oxide sprays. I used Versamark ink and copper embossing powder. Finally, I added a few extra stars in the Acorn ink and cut out and stuck on the star with some 3d glue.

I hope you have enjoyed my projects today? I look forward to sharing more with you later this month.

Sally

Star Struck!

I am so inspired to have a go at a journal page, it is something I've never done myself. Such beautiful colours and placements of images & stencils. So many new ways to use Uniko products.

I hope you have enjoyed todays feature and a big THANK YOU to Sally for inspiring us all.

Brand Ambassador Inspiration - Background Builders: Seeing Stars

 Hi everyone,

Steph here with another Uniko Brand Ambassador Inspiration post and today I am using the Background Builders: Seeing Stars stamp set.

It’s been a while since I inked this lovely set up and today I’ve made three completely different cards to show just how versatile these Background Builders sets are.

My first card is one for the children and a pocket shaker card. I’ve used a combination of large and small stars to create a background which I have given a watercolour wash and coloured with alcohol markers. I secured the acetate on three sides at the back of the stamped panel before adding the sequins and beads. I then closed off the fourth side and attached to the card blank using foam tape. All sentiments used on these cards are from the Uniko Anniversaire Arts Decoratifs stamp set.

With my next card I have tried to create the look of a parcel by using the long star stamps in a crisscross and adding the large stamped stars to mimic a bow or topper. Finally I have added a tag with the sentiment.

For my last card I kept the design simple but added Wow! Fab Foil for a touch of luxury. I think the teal looks great against the dark grey card.

Hopefully I’ve given you some ideas to go off and ink up a Background Builders stamp of your own. There are a number of shapes available now the range so the possibilities are endless.

Much love
Steph x

Celebrate In Style!

 Hey & Happy Tuesday!

I shared a peek of this card over on the unikoltd Instagram yesterday and I have finally found a little bit of time to share it here with you all :)

As usual it is a clean and simple card and I was inspired by all the recent orders of Background Builders: Seeing Stars and Sentiments Outlined to combine them and make this masculine card.

It's hard to see in the photo, but when I stamped the sentiment I made a little blip. The awesome thing about this style of font I've used for the sentiment, is that I could colour inside the lines to cover up the blip and avoid wasting it!

I used The Stamp Market inks for this card in Cobalt, Peony, Melon & Citrine.

Fingers crossed I can squeeze in some inky crafty time this evening, I'm itching to use some florals that haven't seen ink for a while!

Until next time, stay safe & well.

Brand ambassador inspiration : Seeing stars - Background Builders

Hi there!

Hannelie here today sharing three cards I made using the Background-builders : Seeing Stars set!

It works for so many occasions, depending on the sentiment you decide to add and of course the colours you use !

Today I decided to go for a more masculine look :

Card #1

For this card I combined the set with a two layer die cut sentiment from Designer-dies : Big and Bold collection. The "birthday" sentiment is from Simply-said-blocks stamp set.

The background was randomly stamped with one of the stars in distress oxide inks as shown in the photo above. I popped up the sentiment with foam dots and finally added the small sentiment strip.

Card #2

For this card I used the smaller stars to stamp the background on the card base. I added a second popped up panel, stamped with three of the larger stars from the set and once again a sentiment from Simply-said-blocks stamp set.

Card #3

Last but not least... a clean and simple birthday card. Larger stars cut out and popped up over a background strip. Another sentiment from Simply-said-blocks stamp set. Finished off with some of the smaller solid and outline stars.

I hope you found some inspiration today!

DT Inspiration - Playing with Background Builders Stars & Triangles

Hello there, it's Sarah P here and massive apologies as I seem to have been AWOL for the whole of summer BUT at last I'm here with another DT Inspiration post.

Whenever I've not been crafting in a while I struggle to focus; not knowing where to start ... do you have that issue?

My preferred option for getting back into it is to pick up a couple of stamp sets and ink colours that I love and jump right in. That's what I've done with these!!!

I hope you like them!

My GO TO stamp sets were the Background Builders Triangulate, Background Builders Seeing Stars, the latest Sentiments Outlined set, released in July plus another of my favourite sentiment sets; Birthday Wishes.

Up first with my stars trio, just basic stamping with a masked area, on these first 2 to insert the sentiment, and to finish a couple of enamel dots ...

Then having created the stars one in the colour combo above, using promarkers I decided I'd carry the colour scheme through with my triangles!

I do hope you like my cards and I'd love to know how you get back into a creative frame of mind following a break.

Thanks for calling by and catch you again soon.

DT-Inspiration with selfmade colourful Embossing Pasts

Hello, Wiebke here with a new DT-Inspiration Post.
Like always, I used stencils to create my cards.

Sometimes you wanna use colourful pasts? Great to stretch your supplies.
But it'll be expensive to buy all the digfferent colours you like. And to be honest: do you use Embossing Pastes as often as you would need to, to get all of the colours empty one day (befor they dry!)?

If NO - Make your own colourful pastes!
In exact the colours you want and the amount you need!

Here I used Gelatos from Faber Castell to put some rainbows on my papers.

The setting is similar:
  • two Stencils: Seeing Stars & Mehndi Mandala
  • Dreamwaver Embossing Pastes in white and translucent
additional Colours: Faber Castell Gelatos in Rainbow colours (you need just a bit of them, they are intense!)
  • different sentiments from Uniko

Mehndi Mandala
For these cards I coloured my Embossing Pastes with some small pieces of Gelatos. Mixed them well and added it on my papers.
  • Mix enough colour in every shade to work on two different stencils so you have to clean up only once for each colour.
  • Don't mix several colours in one  time to avoid drying of the pasts.

You'll recieve different intense of coloures with the different pasts - white and translucent.
I took the combined photos for both Stencil Designs to show the difference!

Seeing Stars

Hope my cards gave you some inspiration for using your stencils in a bit different ways.
Have FUN crafting, trying and expering!

Hugs Wiebke

CAS Colours & Sketches #300 - Sketch & Happy Birthday CC&S!

Hey!

Happy 6th Birthday CAS Colours & Sketches!

This month at CAS Colours & Sketches our hostess is Patricia, the challenge owner.  This week Patricia has created a sketch for the Birthday week seen HERE and below...

And here is how I used the sketch...

I thought most people would go with the obvious of balloons for a birthday card, so I thought I'd be a little different and opted for celebratory stars. I used Background Builders: Seeing Stars clear stamp set paired with a *new* sentiment from one of the upcoming December Release clear stamp sets!

The solid stars on my white layer are stamped in Altenew inks, Coral Berry, Warm Sunshine & Aqualicious. I then stamped the star with the linear detail in VersaFine Onyx Black ink and coloured some of the sections using Stampin' Up! Stampin' Blends and added glitter to the non coloured section. These are then fussy cut and adhered to the card using 1mm thick foam adhesive.

It wouldn't be a birthday celebration without a gift!

Uniko is super proud to be the sponsor of this CAS Colours & Sketches Birthday Sketch Challenge!

As long as you meet the requirements of the challenge (see the challenge rules HERE). One lucky winner will receive an in stock stamp set (any value) of their choosing from the Uniko website HERE.

That's all from me today, I hope that I have inspired you to join in on the challenge?! If you need a little more inspiration, pop on over HERE to see what the CC&S Design Team have created.

As usual I am running late, it seems to be the story of my life at the moment! I made my card using the CAS(E) this Sketch! sketch seen HERE and below, as I was inspired by all the stars on the sketch!

It seemed the perfect match of sketch, colours and stamps, as the card came together surprisingly quick! I used Background Builders: Seeing Stars and a sentiment from Simply Said Blocks II.

That's all from me today, I hope thatI have inspired you to join in on the challenge?! If you need a little more inspiration, pop on over HERE to see what the CC&S Design Team have created.
