CAS Colours & Sketches #267 - Sketch

Hey!

A new month means a new hostess and Karen is our hostess for April. Last week Karen started things off with a fun colour combo and this week HERE, this wonderful sketch...

With a busy few weeks ahead of me I 'made' time to create a few cards for various responsibilities! One being my cards for the CC&S DT. Here's what I came up with using this weeks sketch...

Having a bit more time to create & think about my project, I was inspired to use some other Uniko February Release products! I had so many ideas and choices of stamp set for this sketch, but I decided to use Background Blocks Equaliser to create this masculine card.

I used my MISTI tool to position and stamp the equaliser block in VersaFine Onyx Black ink and then coloured it in from bottom to top in a ombre selection of Cool Grey Prismacolor Pencils. This took some time to colour, but I think the results are worth it :)

I then added a sentiment strip, which is adhered to the card using 1mm thick foam adhesive. The sentiment is from Simply Said Blocks and is stamped in Altenew Aqualicious ink.

That's all from me today, I hope thatI have inspired you to join in on the challenge?! If you need a little more inspiration, pop on over HERE to see what the CC&S Design Team have created.

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS Colours & Sketches #263 - Sketch

Hey!

This month our hostess is Fiona and she started things off with a fun colour combo last week and HERE this week has this super sketch to inspire your CAS card making...

So many wonderful ideas sprung to mind when I sat down to create my card, this sketch has so many options. However, this is how I decided to use it...

I decided to make a one layer card and I also wanted to join in on the current challenge over at AAA Cards HERE, who's current challenge is ombré.

Life is a Song is one of the February 2018 Release clear stamp sets that I didn't give much inky love to, so I thought I would use it. I used my MISTI to stamp the ombré diagonal lines in opposing corners and also to stamp the ombré music sentiment.

Super simple from me today, but I hope I have inspired you to join in on the challenge?! If you need a little more inspiration, pop on over HERE to see what the CC&S Design Team have created.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hello Friend

Hey!

Today was a much needed bean free day! I took some time to myself this morning to catch up on a little sleep and a couple of my favourite TV shows. The beans are finally getting their last 4 back teeth and as much as they have not suffered with pain, it seems the norm for Josh to wake at least once during the night. Only mummy can sit with him until he falls back to sleep and then we get the 6 am wake up call! Overall they are really good, but boy I needed a rest this morning.

Anyway, this afternoon I have been catching up on work and designing and I decided I needed a little break and set to making this card...

I had been perusing Pinterest this week and was inspired by THIS card by Yana Smakula, I loved the ombre stripes and the bold black sentiment. So had ago using my Altenew inks, Mama Elephant die  and paired them with Beautiful Blooms III and a sentiment from Simply Said.

It's also been an age since I joined in with a card challenge, so decided on a 'Hello Friend' card so that I can join in over at AAA Cards HERE. Their current 'Hello' challenge ends on Saturday.

That's all from me tonight, I had better finish up a couple of things before bed. The design team and I will be back in the morning to inspire you with the first Uniko Challenge of 2017 - yay!

Ok, until then, thank you for stopping by :)

Make a Wish...

Hey & Happy Sunday!

I do hope you are all having a lovely weekend and have found some time to craft. I had a little bit of unexpected 'bean free' time yesterday afternoon, so I took advantage and after a little power nap (it has to be done) I set to making a card just for fun.

I came across THIS card on Pinterest by Maile Belles. I love the layout of the card, the stamped roses from behind the angled panel. It reminded me of the rose image from Flower Power #6

I saw the new challenge over at "Less is More" HERE too, which this week is a colour week and they have chosen ombre. I was looking through my supplies and decided I would give my Copic markers a dust off to create my ombre background.

I chose a trio of pinks, RV10, RV13 and RV14. I used the chisel edge of the pen and worked from light to dark and then back to the lightest. It was a reasonably quick process. The roses are stamped in VersaMark ink and heat embossed with detail white EP. The mini rose and leaves are from Background Builders: Vines and the sentiment from Pure Florals: Cosmos. The complete supplies can be found at the end of the post.

Did you see the return of a past feature HERE on the blog yesterday? Design Team Inspiration is back and Rahmat started things off again for us. Other members of the Design Team will be popping in through the month with various projects to inspire you too. I hope you are pleased to see the return of this feature! I have plans to reintroduce others from way back yonder too ;)

Ok, that is all from me today. I hope to find some crafty time tonight to unwind as I am on my own with the beans today as daddy is doing some extra work to pay for Christmas! Lol!

Thanks for stopping by.

Colour Makes Me Happy!

Hey!

Happy Monday to you all, I do hope your week has got off to a good start?

My Monday has been the usual, playgroups and fun with the beans. Though they are currently playing up in their cots instead of going to sleep and they know mummy isn't happy and so are doing it all the more. Always happens when daddy out too, to watch the football, England are playing tonight and as it stands are currently loosing!

Anyway, you don't come by for the waffle, it certainly helps me to get things off my chest so thank you for putting up with it! How about a little colour creation...

Colour sure makes me happy and making this card tonight helped me keep calm (a little). I recently splurged on some new Clarity Stencils Brushes as I have heard and read so many great reviews and things about them. They are quite pricey at £20 for 4 brushes, but so far I am impressed with their ease of use and ink application.

I used a trio of Mini Distress Inks (listed below in supplies used) to create a ink blended panel, on which I then stamped and heat embossed the butterfly from English Country Garden - Butterflies. The background circle of distress polka dots was created using a die cut circle mask, Hero Arts ombre ink and a SU! stamp.

The layout of my card was based on THIS challenge sketch by Freshly Made Sketches, which I am too late to link up to this week.

As I have used a rainbow of colours I am linking my card up to Virgina's View Challenge HERE and inspiration seen below. I think this is my first time entering a challenge here even though I have wanted to in which seems like forever!

That's all from me tonight, I have a few jobs in the studio to catch up on! I will be back again tomorrow (fingers crossed) and with this weeks Stamp Of The Week over HERE on the website blog. Until then, thank you so much for coming by today.

Still TIME to join in @ TIME OUT!

Hey!

Sorry I have been MIA for so long, I've been struck down with an awful bug for the past 3 weeks and the little beans got it too :( We are just about on the road to recovery and I found a smidgen of energy yesterday to create this reminder card for the current challenge over at TIME OUT Challenges.

This fortnights challenge is a theme with a twist and the theme is...

Grunge with an OPTIONAL Twist of Embossing

What does 'Grunge' mean for us papercrafters??

Grunge is characterized by distressed, worn-out elements and the use of subtle
or earthy colours. Think torn edges, textured backgrounds, 'dirty' appearance, splatters, stains, even hand-drawn lines. That said, grunge doesn't always mean
"dirty" or subdued colours. A card can have subtle grunge elements in light or soft ink
and yet still look clean and simple. Just think of grunge as the
opposite of "polished".

We are very excited that our sponsors this week are STAMPlorations-owned by DT member Shery

We have 2 ways that you could win a $10 gift voucher to spend in the amazing STAMPlorations store:

-the DT will choose a winner and that winner will get a $10 gift voucher
-we will do a random draw from all those who twist with us by adding embossing to their project. This twister will also get a $10 gift voucher.

Now when I see the word grunge I freak out! LOL! It's not something I do well and this is my interpretation. Apologies in advance for my terrible photos :(

I have one 'grunge' style stamp and that is the Grid from Stamping' Up! I've used it a handful of times and thought it was perfect for this challenge. The challenge for me then was to decide what to pair it with! So I glanced through my Uniko stamps and decided upon Explosion! mainly because I've not inked it up for some time.

I also gave my new Hero Arts ombre ink pads a whirl for this card :) I think the pink ombre effect showed up best on the cut out and raised explosion.

Anyway, if 'grunge' isn't your thing like me, just give it a go, stepping outside your comfort zone is good for the soul. Plus there is an awesome prize up for grabs!

Be sure to stop by the TIME OUT Challenges blog for more inspiration HERE and HERE. I will be back on the blog tomorrow to announce the winner of the May Release Blog Hop, so be sure to stop by then.

Until then, thank you for stopping by today :)

Still TIME to play @ TIME OUT Challenges - CASE with your own twist

Hey!

I'm back today with a reminder card for the 12th TIME OUT Challenge and this time it's a CASE challenge. The aim of this challenge is to use the designer inspiration card & CASE it adding your own twist.

This month we have a super duper talented paper crafting expert for you to CASE... Anita from My Papercraft World and this is the inspiration card...

And this is my take on the inspiration...

I went down the geometric and ombre look for my take on the CASE card and dusted off Background Builders: Squared. I picked aqua hues from the inspiration card and heat embossed the squares. I love the new Mama Elephant 'hello' die and really like the layered look that Anita has done on her card, so had to replicate that.

I was also inspired by the current challenge over at Addicted to CAS HERE which is geometric and below is a close up of the detail...

For all the info and to link up your challenge be sure to stop by the TIME OUT Challenges blog. I look forward to seeing your creations :) I'll be back tomorrow with more to share, until then, thank you for stopping by today.

Ombre Lattice

Hey!

WOW! What a fabulous Design Team blog hop yesterday, so many FABulous projects using the Background Builders: Lattice stamp, I really enjoyed it! Did you? If you missed the fun yesterday there is still time to join in on the fun HERE and win yourself the prize.

So for the month of March leading up to the next release here at Uniko Studio I gave the DT the task of revisiting the Background Builders: Lattice stamp so you'll be seeing this set popping up on projects throughout the month.

Today's card is one of those projects I've used it on...

Still keeping those green ink pads well & truly dusted off I decided to have a go at the Ombre trend that is still going strong. I started out by stamping the darkest green at the bottom of my card & working my way up to the lightest.

I even tried to achieve the ombre effect on the label...

I did this by inking the label stamp first with the lightest ink then the middle green moving the ink pad lower down the stamp and then with the darkest green just touching the lower edge of the stamp. I'm pleased how it turned out.

The perfect ombre green birthday card for a St Patricks Day baby! Moxie FAB World have an Ombre challenge HERE on their blog and The Pink Elephant HERE have a 'Green' challenge, so my card fits perfectly into both of those challenges!

Two challenges defo worth having a go at! Don't forget to join in on the Uniko Studio March DT Blog Hop HERE & be in the chance of winning the set, all you have to do is comment along the way!

That's all from me today, thanks for stopping by!
