Spring...

Isn't quite in the air today here in the North East of England.

However, it's the theme of this months Uniko VIP Facebook Group challenge, so that's what I am sharing here too.

I still have lots of fussy cut flowers using the Ink & Flip Layering Retro Flowers Stencil and I am still having fun thinking of ways to use them.

Today I decided to pair them with the stem & leaves from Flower Power 1. And as it is Mother's Day here in the UK at the weekend, I decided to add this sentiment, which is a mix from Everyday Love Sentiments and Everyday Spring Sentiments.

As you can see I stamped the leaves in Parsley ink onto my card base and then adhered the flowers using foam tape. And of course a few enamel dots to the flower centres.

That's all I have for today.

Mothering Sunday

Hello & Happy Sunday.

Today in the UK is Mothering Sunday. One of the most bittersweet days of the year for me. Where I am blessed beyond measure to be a mum to two amazing boys. I am so proud of them and they bring me joy and love every day.

But then another year adds to the 15 already passed that I don't get to spend it with my mum, loved and missed so much. Sad that she never got to see me get married, have The Beans or get to dote on them like my parents in law do.

Still, I got to make a card for my mother in law who over the years has been a blessing and taken me under her wing like a daughter of her own.

Of course it had to be flowers and I fancied inking up the Stencil - Layering Picked Posies as I thought she would appreciate this one.

I kept it simple and added a sentiment from Everyday Love Sentiments and Everyday Spring Sentiments, along with a few enamel dots.

It's been a nice family day, although a little tiring as the clocks sprung forward this morning and I woke early, baked and cooked a Sunday roast.

Time to chill before a fun filled week prepping for Crafterama Gateshead tomorrow.

DT Inspiration - Stencils, Kraft Papers and watercolour pencils

Hello, Wiebke here with a new DT-Inspiration Post.
Like always, I used a stencil to create both of my cards.

The setting is similar:
  • the same Stencil - Doodle Flower
  • the same sentiment - "Happy Mother'S Day" from the Spring Botanicals - Daffodil Stamp-Set
it's heat embossed in white and cut and fold  as a simple banner.
  • the same colours - watercolour pencils and an aqua brush

For the first one I just used the red watercolour pencil, traced the petals of my stencil, removed it and then added water to solve the pigments and colour the full petal-areas.
When the watercolour-part was dry, I re-added the stencil and put red stickles into the heart-openings. After removing the stencil I just added the white Novo Drops for some more interest.

For the second card I went more colourful and used a rainbow for every flower. I used the same order of colours every time.
First I colours all petals in all six colours then went over it with my aqua brush in colour-order.
after the first step was dry, I added a second layer of pencil-colour, but didn't solve the colours again. I like this kind of kids-crafting-look on this mother's day card.
I finished the card with some clear enamel hearts.

The sentiment banners were adhered on both cards with dimensional foam pads.

Hope my cards gave you some inspiration for using your stencils in a bit different way.
Wish you all a nice weekend! Wiebke

Happy Mother's Day!

Hey!

Today is Mother's Day here in the UK and I have enjoyed some lovely quality time with hubby and the beans :) To top it off the weather has been glorious this weekend and we have managed to spend time outside enjoying it.

I've been longing to spend some time in the garden, the previous owners had let it get very overgrown and seemed to like a lot of greenery and not a lot of flowers! So, I spent some time clearing one of the borders to create a blank canvas to plan my plants/shrubs for all year round colour.

Anyway, we did pop round to see my Mother In Law this morning and this is the card I made...

I couldn't resist inking up Originally Organic Additions again! This time I went for some fussy cutting. I started by stamping the heart wreath and a trio of flowers. I then cut the flowers out and adhered them into place on the wreath, I then stamped some smaller buds to the wreath before cutting it all out. This added a little more interest and depth to the design.

The sentiment is from Simply Said and I added a few tiny rhinestones and some clear Wink Of Stella for a little subtle sparkle. Inside the card I combined a sentiment from Most Wonderful and Celebrate with Cake, stamping another of the stems and flowers from Originally Organic Additions.

Before I go today, I also have the WINNER to announce for the Uniko March 2017 Design Team Blog Hop & Giveaway....

This is such a sweet card, and I love that stampset!

Congratulations Mirella! Please send an email along with your postal address to bev@uniko.co.uk by Sunday 9th April 2017 to claim your prize.

Thanks for stopping by today and enjoy the rest of your day and weekend!

Happy Mother's Day!

Hey!

Today is Mother's Day here in the UK. A day to celebrate & show your Mother how much you love and appreciate all that they do and have done for you.

Sadly my Mum is no longer with me & even though it's been 5 years since she passed away this day like many occasions is hard for me. I miss spoiling my Mum on this occasion, but I am lucky enough to get on well with my Mother In Law to be and so today we are treating her to lunch at our house. Sunday's are family days for us and we usually spend the afternoon at his Mam & Dad's having dinner & watching a movie. This week though it's our turn to host and for me to cook the dinner!

Anyway, enough chit chat from me, how about a card...

This is the card I made for Karl to give to his Mam from us both. I stuck to my usual bright go to colour combo & used the Gerbera flower from Pure Florals: Gerbera which is perfect in these bright colours! This card is quite simple with just a bit of fussy cutting & masking to create the layered flowers.

Ok, I'd best be off to go start preparing the vegetables for dinner and put the chicken in to cook! I hope you all have a lovely day whether you are celebrating Mother's Day or it's just a normal Sunday.

Be sure to stop on by the blog tomorrow for a Uniko Studio DT Blog Hop! We've a stamp set revisited hop planned for your enjoyment & there's a set up for grabs too!! Thanks for stopping by today :)
