Retro Hex Glitter Baubles

Happy Festive Friday

Today I have a fun retro Christmas card to share with you. I had this idea last weekend at the Crafterama show in Lincoln. More so when I got my hands on these fabulous and super sparkly Funky Fossil Stellar Pastes.

I knew that I wanted to turn the Ink & Flip Geometric Hexagon Layering Stencil focal point into a bauble. Originally I wanted to create a fully pasted bauble, but due to the depth of the paste, on the flip pasting the line definition inside the design was lost.

So I went with the second option of glittering just one side of each bauble. The colours of pastes I chose are Party Dress and Icicle Dreams, which I thought would pair lovely with Honeysuckle and Oceanside.

Once the baubles were inked, pasted and dried I fussy cut them out. I decided upon the bow from Mid Century Modern Wreath Builder, along with one of the sentiments from the stamp set. I drew the bauble strings with a dark grey fine liner.

It's not often I go for a DL site card, but I thought the size of the baubles worked better on this. What do you think?

That's all I have for today, but I will be sharing more over the weekend.

Brand Ambassador Inspiration - Snowflake Serenade

Good morning

It's Anita here and today I'm sharing some cards using a great Christmas set, Snowflake Serenade Clear Stamp Set.  The main image has so much movement and you also get some extra snowflakes and some fab mixed-font sentiments.

Ok, here's my first card, and my favourite of three I'm sharing today...

I started with a piece of green cardstock, very unusual for me not to reach for white!  I then stamped and embossed the main large image in gold, before then filling in some gaps to create a full background.  I then ink blended in from the edges of the green panel and faded it out toward the centre.  I then grabbed a green marker and coloured in all the holly images, just to add some tone on tone detail.  I then finished with a gold embossed sentiment from the Rustic Christmas Clear Stamp set, on a black die cut.

My second card...

Directly on the card base I stamped the main focal image in blue dye ink.  I then ink blended in from the edges using a few shades of Distress Oxide ink.  Next I 'painted' the holly leaves with water and blotted with a paper towel to remove some colour, this works well with blended Distress and Distress Oxide inks as they react with water.  I also used a wet paint brush to add the 'snow' dots which were also blotted away.  The sentiment, also from the set, was stamped in black ink and I finished with some smooth gems in the centres of the snowflakes.

And my final make...

I kept this one fairly simple, just ink and glitter.  I used an angled panel die cut with a stitched border and stamped the main image in black ink.  I adhered this to my card base and then used a glue pen to add glue, first to the holly leaves, which I sprinkled with super fine green glitter, and then added some touches to the snowflakes and sprinkled with pale blue glitter.  I then finished the card by stamping the sentiment, from the Background Builders: Winter Wonderland set, along the edge of the panel.

So there you have it, three very different cards using the same focal image.  I'm still way behind with my Christmas cards this year so I hope this has provided you with some inspiration if you are too!

Thanks for taking a look, I hope you have a wonderful week!

DT Inspiration ....... Quick and Easy Christmas cards using Uniko Stencils

Happy Thursday ........

I hope you're having a great week.
It's Linda here, with a little festive inspiration for you this morning.

I can't believe we're nearly at the end of September ..... the festive season is going to be here before we know it (and I still haven't been on holiday yet!)

Have you made all your Christmas cards?  Or are you like me, still thinking about ideas?
Need something quick and easy but still want fabulous results?
Well, how about using your Uniko stencils.   Team them up with some texture/stencil paste, and a few different finishes, for some fun, all over, festive designs

I started with some coloured cardstock cut slightly bigger than the Uniko stencils.  I then used white texture/stencil paste through each one of the designs and added a different finish.

In the Forest, on the green card, I sprinkled over the top of the paste, whilst it was still wet, with some Platinum Embossing Powder and set this to one side to dry.

Once it was dry, I used a heat tool in the usual way to melt the embossing powder.  I love the texture that came through.

I cut off the edges around the stenciled design, and inked around the piece using Forest Moss Distress Ink to add a little shading.
I then cut the panel into two pieces so that I could stretch the design to fit on the front of my 7x5 inch cardblank

I added my sentiment into the gap I'd created, and added a few dots of glitter glue here and there.

Let it Snow on the blue card, was the paste sprinkled with Crystal Glitter this time, again whilst the paste was wet, and then left to dry.
Depending on your texture paste, and the temperature of your room, drying time will vary.

Once everything was dry, I brushed off any excess glitter and then cut the panel as before in, only this time I cut on a sort of diagonal ......

I added a sentiment and a few sparkly sequins ......

The Scandinavian Christmas on the red card I did leave overnight to dry.  The reason for this was I wanted to hot foil it.

Now I'm not sure if this will work with all brands of texture/stencil paste ...... I do know it works beautifully with the Sweet Poppy one though.

So, once it was dry I covered the stenciled design with some pretty gold foil, then with it in between pieces of copier paper I ran it through my laminator on a hot setting.

The results are gorgeous!

I cut the panel down as before, inked around the edge (Aged Mahogany Distress Ink) and then cut it into two sections giving me space to add my sentiment.

Three designs, all done in the same way, but each one with a different finish .... which one is your favourite?

Thanks for popping by ..... enjoy the rest of your day.

Cheerio until next time ......

Featured in Cards & Crafts for Christmas

Hey!

Happy Weekend & HAPPY long Bank Holiday weekend to all in the UK, you've got to love an extra day to the weekend!

Today I am back to share a little more about the Uniko feature in Cards & Crafts for Christmas, which I shared on social media on Friday.

I am always truly honoured to be approached by editors to design digital stamps and have my cards featured. I also love sharing things for free, which brings me on to the feature in Cards & Crafts for Christmas....

I also LOVE snowflakes, glitter and sparkle, so when I received the brief my heart skipped a beat and these are the snowflake digital stamps I came up with and a snippet of the feature from the magazine...

The digital stamps can be downloaded from www.simplycardsmag.com and the digital stamps in the magazine can be found HERE, you will need to register to be able to download them.

I'd LOVE to see if you use these freebies or any of the free digital stamps I have designed in the past. I have links to some of them HERE

So if you have made something and blogged about it, email me a link to bev@uniko.co.uk OR if you have posted it on social media, such as Instagram or Facebook, be sure to tag @unikoltd or  use the #unikoltd or #unikostamps and I will be able to find them.

That's all from me today, but I will be back again soon with more to share! Until then, thanks for stopping by and enjoy the freebies ;)

Uniko Sponsors TIME OUT Challenges

Hey!

I'm super happy you have stopped by today, I'm a little later than I had planned to be today, but I am here to let you know that Uniko is kicking off 2017's Sponsorships by sponsoring the new challenge over at TIME OUT Challenges HERE.

This fortnight over at TIME OUT the challenge is a theme...

Winter

and the optional twist is:

White on White
(you can use black and other neutrals for the sentiment)

Now, if you twist with the challenge you will be in the chance of winning a £15 eGift Certificate to spend in the Uniko website store.

I thought I would make a card to inspire you to join in...

As you can see I opted not to 'twist' this time, I was inspired to use the Winter Foliage clear stamp set (back in stock this month) and I combined a sentiment from Stunning Snowflakes.

Hopefully you can see that I tried to create a frosted snow effect to the foliage, by added some glitter to selected parts.

Be sure to pop on over to the TIME OUT Challenge blog HERE for some amazing inspiration from the TO Design Team and you will find the challenge rules and linky there too.

I hope to see you in the gallery ;)
Hugs

CAS Colours & Sketches #191

Hey!

This month over at CAS Colours & Sketches our hostess is Karen. Karen has come up with some fabulous challenges for us, including this weeks lovely colour combo HERE and seen below for you to try...

What a lovely colour combo, don't you think? It had me stumped for a while, but then an idea struck and I went with it. With a restock of lots of clear stamp sets today HERE in the Uniko store, including Peace On Earth that I have used on my card. I decided to make a Christmas card...

I thought the Delightful Dijon resembles a lovely old gold colour and one which I have the SU! card stock for, so decided to use that as my base. I then die cut a white panel stamped the sentiment and olive branch from the set in a close of a match green as I have to Cucumber Crush. Wrapped some Bermuda Bay bakers twine round the panel before adhering to the card base using foam adhesive.

The dove is stamped in Bermuda Bay, fussy cut out and embellished with glitter for a little Christmas sparkle!

Ok, that's all from me for now, I hope I have inspired you to give these colours a go and join in on the challenge this week. Be sure to stop on over HERE and check out what the rest of the CAS Colours & Sketches DT have done using the colours and I hope to see you in the gallery.

Thanks for stopping by today.

CAS Colours & Sketches #187

Hey!

It's a new month over at CAS Colours & Sketches with LOTS of fun challenges in store. As it is the summer months we are taking it in turns to be a hostess for the week. This week our hostess is the lovely Louise.

Louise has come up with this lovely colour combo HERE and seen below for you to try...

This one had me stumped for a little while, I don't know if it was my creativity or the colours. Anyway, I decided to break out some Christmas themed stamps to try and get me in the mood for the upcoming season. Quite hard after a trip to the seaside and full on sunshine this week ;)

This is what I came up with...

I only have the new SU! In Colours in card stock, so I needed a way to incorporate at least one of the colours that way! I matched Flirty Flamingo as closely as possible to Regal Rose ink to stamp the snowflakes from Stunning Snowflakes.

The layout of my card is from the new Freshly Made Sketches challenge seen HERE and below...

Here is a little close up of the sparkle of the die cut snowflake...

Neutrals, Flowers & Subtle Glitter!

Hey!

Sunday evening here already & I'm sad that it's back to normal routine tomorrow. I'm going to miss having my hubby home 24/7, it makes a difference having two pairs of hands when it comes to playing and looking after my two crazy beans!

Anyway, I've enjoyed some more creative time tonight and made another card using the current "Less is More" challenge HERE which is to use Neutral colours. Again I reached for the warmer colours of creams & light soft browns.

Another birthday card, this time I decided to use Beautiful Blooms II (back in stock this month) and I paired it with a Mama Elephant die that I have not used yet. Again the sentiment is from Simply Said Birthdays.

The new challenge over at AAA Cards HERE and seen below is to use glitter. I love glitter and I surprised myself that I have used so little on this card! I have added it to the section below the stitching on the die cut border and only the flower centres.

Ok, that's all from me today, time to do a little 'work' before an episode or two and bed! I've a few Happy Mail parcels to pack :) I'll be back tomorrow with more to share, but until then, thank you for stopping by today.

Supplies:
Card: SU! Whisper White, Very Vanilla & Crumb Cake. Polka Dot from off cut pile! (Bazzill Possibly)

Accessories: SU! Glitter. Mama Elephant Landscape Trio Dies. Glue Pen. Linen Thread & DST.
