Saturday Spotlight - Background Builders Round In Circles

Hello & Happy Saturday Spotlight.

The other day on social media, I asked what crafters would like to see in the spotlight today. One suggestion was Background Builders. So I got to thinking how I could give a Background Builder stamp set the festive treatment and I thought of a card I made many years ago using Background Builders: Round In Circles.

So I decided to do something similar, but up level it with some different techniques, colours and a couple of different sentiment and accent pairings. This is how it turned out...

I started out by die cutting a few circle masks from printer paper. I then adhered them temporarily onto a white card stock base (10 x 14cm) before ink blending with Aqua Sky, Oceanside, Harbour and Blueberry.

Before moving the masks I splattered some Gansi Tambi Starry Watercolours, I'm on a splattering kick at the moment for some added sparkle!

I then stamped the circles with the various individual circle stamps in black ink. I added fine liner drawn strings and bows from Mid Century Modern Baubles that were adhered using foam tape. My sentiment choice is from Most Wonderful and a few silver enamel dots finished the card.

The result a fun, festive card that can be done in so many different colour combinations. I know I am biased, but Background Builders: Round in Circles is such a versatile clear stamp set. For more ideas on how to use it, check out the Uniko Pinterest page HERE.

Before I go, I thought I would share a few things from the Uniko newsletter incase you haven't subscribed.  First I have a few Black Friday Bargains HERE on the website.

There are also a few clear stamps available on backorder that are due in the studio on Wednesday 27th November. These include... The two sellouts from the Uniko November Release, Christmas Pop and Framed Fairy Lights. Anniversarie Arts Decoratifs, Background Blocks Pinstripe, Christmas Sentiments, Christmas Wishes and Simply Said Blocks Christmas

A couple of stencil restocks arrived yesterday, these include Ink & Flip Layering Geometric Christmas Tree and Mid Century Modern

Any orders containing a backorder clear stamp set will be posted on 28th November 2024. That's all from me today.

Friday Focus - Wonderful Day

Happy Friday!

I have survived the school holidays - haha! It's actually been alright and we have had some fun. The weather could have been a little sunnier, but we can't have everything.

Today I have a trio of cards using Wonderful Day

This clear stamp set recently came back in stock and I was immediately inspired to create a card using it with the recently released Background Blocks Rays. I've also used a sentiment focal point from Sentiments Outlined.

I started by stamping the 'Have a Wonderful Birthday' sentiment central on my card base. I then positioned the Background Block Rays in my stamping tool so that I could stamp it in opposing corners on my card base in a soft yellow ink.

I then stamped the flowers and leaves from Wonderful Day in black ink. I used a little bit of simple masking to have the leaves pop out from behind the flowers. I finished off with some glittery enamel dots from my stash.

My second card uses just Wonderful Day.

I stamped and fussy cut two flowers and a selection of leaves from the set, which I have arranged around one of the sentiments stamped in black on a white mat layer.

I've then used the larger of the outline circles, intended for flower centres and stamped it around the edge of my base card in black ink. I then adhered my mat layer to the base using double sided tape and added some Nuvo Drop accents.

The use of the circle stamp on my second card inspired my third! I love it when creativity flows like this.

Here I started by stamping my sentiment. I then selected 5 colours to stamp both the large and small solid dots. I also added in some black ones to tie in the outline circles, which I stamped overlapping each other and some of the coloured dots. The smaller trio of dots is from Floral Vines to fill in a few of the gaps.

Wonderful Day is such a fun set to let your creativity flow and it pairs wonderfully with the Background Blocks. I've also shown, that even though it is a floral set, you can achieve masculine one layer makes too.

That's all from me today.

Brand Ambassador Post : Background Blocks - Pinstripe II

 Hi there!

Hannelie here today with a set of cards so quick and so clean and so simple . I just realised again that cardmaking doesn't have to be complicated to be fun !

I started off with the intention to make five cards (the first five photos) and then the idea came to (sort of) combine a couple of them on one card...

All you need is a background stamp, a sentiment stamp & some colored card stock . A couple of geometric dies or punches would make it even easier 😊

Inspiration for the designs come from some mid century posters like THIS pin combining bold color blocks with stripes. The color block provides a great spot to place the sentiment!

Here's the card with the combination of elements :

... and the complete set !

Thank you so much for popping in today!

I hope you feel inspired ♥

CAS Colours & Sketches #282 - Sketch

Hey!

I'm back & I think I have finally found my card making creative mojo again! I think I hit a bit of a burnout with doing 2 shows & a release on the bounce and then not quite 2 weeks ago I had to say a very hard goodbye to Mr Cat. He had been my fur baby for 15 years and it has been very strange and lonely (when the Beans are at nursery) without him.

I haven't been totally uncreative in my time away from blogging, I have been working on some magazine commissions due out around September and I have designed a NEW clear stamp release for August!

Anyway, I am finally back in Design Team mode and catching up on my CAS Colour & Sketches responsibilities with this weeks sketch seen HERE and below by the lovely Jeanne, our hostess for July.

This sketch is so appealing to me, I love angles on cards and when I saw the current challenge over at AAA Cards HERE and seen below, I couldn't resist combining the 2 with my love of geometrics too...

As you can see I was inspired to dust off Background Builders: Round In Circles. I also gave my Catherine Pooler inks a good whirl to create the beautiful rainbow colours - LOVE!!

The sentiment is from Pure Florals: Cosmos, which is now back in stock, along with a few others - YAY! I am super pleased as to how this card turned out ;)

Anyway, the CC&S Design Team have created more awesome inspiration to share with you, so hop on over HERE to see and also find all the challenge details & link up!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Let's combine Washi Tape and Uniko!

Hello there it's Sarah P here and I've a DT inspired post for you this morning which I've combined with my Less is More Challenge post HERE

Our challenge for the week is to use Washi Tape on your Clean and Simple card so I decided to create my own tape using some Uniko stamps, having been inspired a few weeks ago when I spotted THIS card by Elaine. I googled 'how to make washi tape' and couldn't believe it could be so easy!

The possibilities, colours and designs are now endless!

Here's my card and the 'recipe' and details, if you want to give this a go, are below

One of my favourite geometric-style sets from Uniko is Background Builders circles. It's a great one to have for many different occasions and designs, especially for those guys!

Recipe for washi tape: Tissue Paper, Sheet of double sided tape eg. stick-it, stamps, inks

  • Step 1. Adhere the tissue paper to the double sided adhesive (peel and stick tape would work too)
  • Step 2. Stamp away, any type of ink, any colour, any stamps (I used Altenew inks then added some white heat embossed areas)
  • Step 3. Cut into strips of required width
  • Step 4. Peel off the backing paper .... away you go

The sentiment I've used is from Simply Said Birthday and it's popped up on 3d foam on a pinked-edge circle die from Paper Smooches.

If you'd like to have a go with washi tape and play along at the Less is More challenge this week then you have until 10pm GMT on Friday, 24th March 2017 and the link you need is HERE

Thanks for calling by the blog today and I hope you feel inspired.

One I Forgot to Share!

Hey!

It's not very often that I make a card and forget to share it! Anyway, I did come across todays card on my camera, which I made back in November last year for CAS Colours & Sketches birthday challenge.

Here it is...

I didn't share it on that post or as a reminder for the challenge, because I felt it wasn't CAS enough. The challenge was a colour challenge and shades of blue, which I thought appropriate for a masculine card and one using geometrics - a good 'go to' choice for those pesky men ;)

I started by stamping the sentiment, which is a mix of All Occasion Sentiments #2 and Simply Said Birthday (partial stamped from On Your Birthday stamp). The large circles are from Background Builders: Round In Circles (back in stock in the next week or so). The smaller circles are from the recently retired Essentially Christmas clear stamp set. I finished the card off with a trio of enamel dots, which matched the colours perfectly.

That's all I have to share today, but I will be back tomorrow with my regular CAS Colours & Sketches card. Until then, thank you for stopping by today :)

Happy Birthday CAS Colours & Sketches!

Hey & YAY!

CAS Colours & Sketches are celebrating their Birthday today with their 200th Challenge too! This month Patricia is our hostess and has been inspired by the CC&S Blog Header for this weeks colour challenge HERE.

This is how I've used the colours this week...

I originally made a Christmas card using the colours, which I will share later in the week, but as it is CC&S Birthday I decided I should make a birthday card instead. The first birthday card I made, which I will also share later in the week, I thought wasn't quite CAS enough so I went on to make the one above! Third time lucky and all that ;)

I've gone more down the masculine route too, with all the blues and I've kept to using a grungy geometric style stamp and simple bold sentiments.

I used Stampin' Up! Inks on my card, a couple have retired (sorry) but as blue is one of my favourite colours I kept them. I used Night of Navy, Ballet Blue and Bashful Blue. The sentiment is a mix of Uniko All Occasion Sentiments #2, Simply Said Birthday (partial stamped sentiment) and the circles are from Background Builders: Round In Circles. The enamel dots are My Minds Eye On Trend collection and coordinate lovely with Night Of Navy!

It wouldn't be much of a birthday celebration without some presents, right?  This time, the gifts are for our challenge participants!  Three lucky winners will be chosen at random from our participants in this week's challenge, and each of them will receive one of the following prizes:

An in-stock stamp set of the winner's choice from Uniko

A $15 USD gift certificate from STAMPlorations

A gift certificate from Lawn Fawn

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States, we'll be announcing our Weekly Winners for this challenge as usual on Monday, November 28, and we'll announce the Birthday Celebration prizes on Wednesday, November 30.

Ok, that's all from me for now, I hope I have inspired you to give these colours a go and join in on the challenge this week. Be sure to stop on over HERE and check out what the rest of the CAS Colours & Sketches DT have done using the colours and I hope to see you in the gallery.

Thanks for stopping by today.

CAS Colours & Sketches #173

Hey!

It's time for another challenge over at CAS Colours & Sketches and this week our host Caro has a sketch for you to spark your creativity HERE and seen below. This is another fun sketch with SO many possibilities...

Don't you think...?

This is how I used the sketch this week...

I decided to ink up the recently restocked Background Builders: Round in Circles clear stamp set and I needed a little more help to spark my creativity and so I combined the sketch with this weeks ColourQ challenge colours seen HERE and below.

The colours are all faves of mine, but ones I wouldn't thought of putting together! I started by stamping the circle strip in black ink, I used black to define them and also so the colours stood out a little more than if I had used kraft.

I used my SU! markers to colour, blend and stamp the happy birthday sentiment from Simply Said Birthday and then mounted the panel onto a kraft CS base using foam adhesive.

Ok, that's all from me just now. I have a few bean free hours this afternoon and I hope to spend some time creating :) it's been too long!

Be sure to check out the rest of the CC&S design team inspiration HERE and I hope to see you in the gallery too.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Still Time to Join in at TIME OUT Challenges!

Hey!

Ahh, all good things come to an end at some point, but I am still sad to leave TIME OUT Challenges.  I'm sure you will see me from TIME to TIME over there either as a sponsor or playing along!

Anyway, I am here with my last reminder card as part of the DT for the current challenge, which is inspired by this FABulous photo...

For my last card HERE, I went with the nautical theme, this time I was inspired by the circles and stripes.

This is the result...

I'm LOVING the sketch over at 'Less is More' HERE and seen bike, so I couldn't resist playing along again, so I used it for my layout.

I started by stamping the striped circles from Background Builders: Round In Circles on my white base layer in Ocean Depth ink. I then die cut a panel of white CS using my Mama Elephant hello & edge dies. After adhering the die cut layer to my base card using DST I die cut the 'hello' again in red CS and inlayed it into the pre die cut 'hello' on the panel.

That's all from me, but we have a lovely Guest Designer joining us this fortnight, Anni, be sure to stop by Anni's blog HERE to see how she was inspired by the photo and of course the FABulous TIME OUT Challenges Design Team.

For all the info and to link up your challenge be sure to stop by the TIME OUT Challenges blog. I look forward to seeing your creations :) I'll be back again later in the week with more to share & until then, thank you for stopping by today.
